Wow man, I'm loving your thinking here, and the conversational style works really well for you. There's one refinement I would like to offer for your point about SSRIs. You admit that serotonin is a crucial hormone for mood regulation, but insist that SSRIs have no effect on depression, based on the overwhelming evidence that depression is not caused by low serotonin. Obviously if the etiology of depression is not low serotonin, SSRIs cannot treat the cause of depression, however, SSRIs CAN treat the SYMPTOMS of depression through serotonin's effect on mood. In some ways this can be more damaging than no treatment at all. While not treating the CAUSE, the drugs very effectively mask the SYMPTOMS. A band aid on a bullet wound if you will. Not only do they create dependency through hormonal down regulation, but provide a false sense of "cure" leading people to believe that the root of the issue has been addressed when, in fact, it has not.
