Notes from Bishop John's talk. 1opposition to our public witness 2 persistent prayer of community 3 God's intervention 1 An attempt to stop public witness There are powers working against us Violence, if not physical emotional and mental What do we do when opposition to our ministry? In India, at lunch time, share faith. 1 in 100 chrisitians. Could be persecution, imprisonment, Death How do we react? Western... faith as a private act. No!!!! Impart faith to your children We are still called to proclaim the gospel of Christ 2 What they do when one of them is in prison. The commuity gather together to pray. Prayer. An act of faith. An act of defiance. Prayer is a way we hold to the values of God, not to the values of the world. An act of unity United in God's mission So easy to give up in prayer. A basket where God always pours out blessing? No. Sometimes not answer in way want, but keep praying. 3 May not always be what we expect it to be, but God does always work. Witness through suffering or through freedom God intervenes in deliverance .God brings light V7 a light shone in the cells Physically Mental Emotionally Bringing light to darkness. .God wakes the person up. Angel taps Peter and Peter woke up. A new hope. .Asked Peter to cloth himself. Put on your cloak. Restoring dignity. Get up. Clothe yourself. Follow me out of the prison. God intervenes in many ways. God brings light when we are in darkness God wakes us up God restores our dignity. ........ Help us carry on with our public witness. Bringing light. Waking you up. Dignity. Walk out of the prison.
Amen mom Wendy God bless you thank you for the message ❤

Turn on the light you are the Life giver. Thank you for a good new year direction
Awesome, I consider that I am blessed with many ‘gifts’. I started my professional life as a Design Technology teacher, but I mainly taught woodwork as I was a gifted craftsman. Later I became a headteacher and for the past eight years I have cared for my mum. Very sadly my mum passed away in May this year and just after she had died I walked from Scarisbrick to Southport to meet some friends for a meal. On the way to meet my friends I had a sudden realisation that my mum had given me the greatest gift of all and that is the gift of love. It was an awesome inspirational realisation and can’t really explain the deep impact it has had on me, but it has been extremely comforting in my time of grief. Since my mum has passed away I have attended both St Marks Church in Scarisbrick and St John’s in Burscough, and have felt the Holy Spirit enter my heart giving me a warm energising and comforting feeling. At St John’s whilst singing some of the modern hymns tears, not of sadness or grief but of joy and wonder, begin to roll down my face. I think that this is a gift of tears.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It’s touching to hear how, even after the sad loss of you Mum, God’s love and comfort have been a source of strength yo you.
