Upgrading to Dual Channel RAM - The Effect of System Memory on Performance
Tech enthusiasts frequently highlight the importance of dual channel memory for boosting system performance, especially for those relying on integrated graphics (iGPUs). But how significant is this boost, really? Can you game on a Ryzen APU using single channel memory with just 4GB of RAM? After some testing, lets find out...

    sorry, but you're comparing two systems where one has 8GB of RAM and the other only 4GB - that's not a fair game. Dual channel won't save a system with mere 4GB of RAM, that's just starving the system of memory.

    • @novatechYT
      @novatechYT 26 днів тому

      Hello, that's a valid criticism and something that I acknowledged in the video as well, since 4GB is pretty much at the limit of "usable" RAM for a modern machine. I do think that the video's premise is still valid though, as there aren't really 4GB laptops with dual channel RAM and an upgrade to capacity goes hand in hand with the upgrade in memory bandwidth.

    • @novatechYT
      @novatechYT 3 місяці тому

      Good question! I'm actually unsure about pairing this with a 16GB stick, but given what I know about asynchronous dual channel, it *should* work even if it kinda pushes the limits of memory compatibility. The ideal configuration would still be a matching 8GB 3200Mhz stick for 16GB running full dual channel but 24GB is also nice for total capacity even if its asynchronous.

    • @novatechYT

      Thanks! I think this will do well overall for a school laptop given its fast productivity performance, large screen, and great inputs, and its light gaming performance should be pretty good as well, if my initial esports tests were anything to go by (around 60fps at native resolution with low settings). I will eventually try to get actual benchmark numbers for Valorant though. Hope that helps!

      Yep I think so. Currently in the process of benchmarking the laptop for a future review and esports games work fine at native 1200p resolution using low settings (around 45-60fps). Lowering the resolution increases the fps by about 20% so its definitely playable,.

    i understand basics on how page filing works however not on android what id like to know if you can help is i have managed by the power of ebay to come across a 4000 pounds 3d scanner based on nvidia shield tablet k1 a primesense carmine 108 structured light sensor and some propriety software that does the magic that came with the package when sold and which is only obtainable from the company dot product the model i have is a dpi8 what the software does is create a dense pointcloud live using this sensor the limit being the physical ram on how many points you can capture the company sell a newer model the dpi10 but the newer dot3d software is 995 annual subscription where as the dpi8 works natively on the machine making it the more desirable one for xr hobbyist developers and reality capture's would rooting the nvidia shield tablet k1 and setting up virtual memory allow me to scan for significantly longer say an increase of 25% potentially would be worth it hell 5% would be worth it but hey would virtual memory help the reason im asking is the software only officially supports certain devices the k1 the samsung s2 (which ive bought to see if i can upgrade to myself but usually they factory upgrade so not sure if it will work with my license but if it does ill have 3gb ram hardware instead of 2gb which just about scans a room 4X4m would virtual ram be of any use to increasing scan time granted i understand that it may degrade the quality and accuracy or the scan but im using it for xr development hobbying not construction or police forensics so accuracy is not as much of an issue nor is speed of data captured will it dump the live scan when scanning in the app or will it just move system tasks as no other apps running while in the 3d scanner it would be nice if i could increase my scan time either or if this self upgrade with ripped apk does or doesnt work it would be nice to know if rooting and setting up paging would help increase scan time only thing that matters is data integrity

    • @novatechYT
      @novatechYT Рік тому

      Hi, good question! Since Intel XTU applies after boot in Windows, I believe it resets when the OS is shut down so unfortunately, the settings don't carry over to other operating systems. There are probably tools in linux that achieve similar levels of control(maybe even one from Intel themselves) if you're interested in applying them though, and of course there's the bios adjustment methods if you're feeling adventurous. Hope that helps!
