Really interesting story. I’d love to hear more about what it was like in the minor leagues.
Did you ever make a mlb debut also love the video
He made it to AA for 1 inning. Not a diss, at all. That's still super difficult to get to.
Knuck
this is the plan, folks...those of you who can throw a knuckle-ball at 62-65 mph. you've got to have consistency with it. you need practice: that's a stationary rectangle at distance, preferably with a mound too (but that's optional). throw at least 7/10 pitches in the strike-zone. be able to command the pitch, at the four corners - and in the middle. can you throw 7/10 as strikes, all the time? then, you can be a professional in NPB/Korea/Taiwan. all you need is to demonstrate it: a short video/MP4. contact, and send - if they like you, you're invited. but - you have to live up to your billing. there are no short-cuts towards quality. so maybe you can't throw above 70 mph on the radar gun with your knuckle-ball, then you can't make MLB...that's all...but you get to live out your dream in reality overseas...
I'd totally say if a starter can throw 90~100 knuckleballs at ease, that's the scariest pitcher to ever exist.
Yeah absolutely no question
for whatever reason (macho-madness), the knuckle-ball doesn't get the credit it deserves. it seems all pitchers nowadays see the pitch as a last-ditch means to get into the MLB...it shouldn't be like that at all. it's a pitch unto-itself. RA Dickey won the Cy Young with the pitch(!)...2012...for him, it (the knuckleball) was a last-ditch effort to join the MLB. that alone should tell others, your riches await you, if you'd ditch the old, macho-mentality...for greatness. i've been watching the actual use of the knuckle-ball since 1992-ish. yeah. Tom Candiotti, Toronto Blue Jays, from the LA Dodgers. and, i saw how he rated in the top-5 ERA in the American League. and still, people treat the pitch like it's a fluke - because 'they don't know'...it's the passing air, as it hits the non-rotating seams, that causes turbulence in the baseball's movement. the next thing, is belief and practice. it really helps too, if you can throw a baseball in the 90+ mph range too. that's literally all there is, to being the #1 pitcher in MLB as a knuckleballer. if i had the physical ability, obviously i'd be that guy...but, how many people have the physical and mental traits necessary?
You totally get it, this is the best comment I've had since I have started doing social media. I'm doing everything I can to bring the knuckleball back. It will come back and save the game from everyone blowing out their arm. Keep it up man and letting people know. We are saving the game, but more importantly saving young arms from blowing out.
That is actually a spiked curve. The actual knuckle is not in contact worh the ball
Knuck
That's called "the hill billy farm fresh fade ball"

Hanger
Sad people in here hating on this KID. He is still learning, yall acting like he is a pro throwing this. Be constructive, not condescending. Kid, not bad. Getting to the outside of the ball instead of the top will be harder on your elbow and produce more lateral movement like a slider. Throw this like you swing a hammer...fingers on top, throw it hard like a fastball, and let your fingers pull down across the front of the ball. The way my son learned it, grab the bottom of a gatorade bottle, when you throw it, the bottle should rotate vertically end over end. Think fastball, pull through it DO NOT snap your elbow to create spin. Let the grip do the work instead of slinging it. Remember, this isnt your strikeout pitch, it is the "throw their timing off pitch or give up a popout or soft grounder. Stick with it and do well kid!
this mentality applies for everything
Man I don’t even play this sport but all strength to you and really good content hope commenting boost ur channels and mainly gets to the people that actually need this and that would be helpful to have some advice
