      The new Trofeo RS is definitely on our "to do" list as we have read only but good things for it! The SC3 we do not have on this side of the pond but we should be having the Trofeo RS soon, which is supposedly the European equivalent of the SC3, if our sources are not wrong! Good vid, I like all of the tire reading and data analysis at the end. But wish you had been able to complete some tracks without traffic. And, for us in the states, a typical track day session lasts 15 - 25 minutes, or roughly 30 miles / 48 km, so a tire that can be consistent for that long would usually suffice.

      Thanks for watching and for the feedback! I would say also here (in Europe) we do the same. I mean thinkin about it logically, you shouldn't really be out there wasting resources when you feel that the tires have started giving up and dropping in performance. The only reason why we set out to do those 10 laps was because we wanted to push both tires a little bit to their limit and see how they perform and how they wear beyond that. Otherwise we also would have stopped around the same mark. No real point going any further except if you are racing.

    Where do the CR-S V2 sit as far as sidewall stiffness to others? A052 is pretty soft (but not as soft as Cup 2), Yoko AD09's are really stiff with a 3rd ply high turn up belt, RE71RS from what I have heard of them, sit somewhere in between the A052's and the Cup 2's. The stiffer the sidewall, the less "springy" a tire is on the vertical axis and the more stable it feels in high speed sweepers and initial turn-in

      Fair guess but not true :) The stickering on the car might indicate such thing and yet these tires were not! Video started good, but turned 180 degrees towards the end. Instead of spending data analysis that much time, why not finding a track/day/trackday and compare the tires back to back with 2 perfect laps? This should take less time than doing this and will be more solid and robust. You may never know how prior corner effects the next one.. BTW CRS and Cup2 are not rivals..

    • @wdp_racing
      @wdp_racing 2 місяці тому

      Thank you for your input! The data part would happen anyway, as we love more objective ways of comparing things. We also do feel that it was long but it was necessary in order to showcase what we wanted. Doing another trackday, on another day means double the costs on everything and again potentially not being able to put in a clean lap. And definitely wouldn't take less time! You are very right on the variability that changing a line prior to another corner brings and that is why we tried to minimise this by taking as many clean passes we could throughout all of our different laps. The ideal would be to have clean laps! We couldn't agree more to this! And thanks for watching!

    Constructive comment: PLEASE give exact numbers. You speak it was 2 bar on the CUP2, went up to 2,5 2,8 so this is not what they recommend. But you never mention in the video what is the recommended by the manufacturer. This was at least 3 times in the video, this and that is recommended by the manufacturer but you don't share the data WHAT was the recommended. Questions remained: What is the operating temperature of the CUP2? What is the operating temperature of the CR-S? (Same like th AR-1? 70-105C ? ) Here at least it was said 2 BAR hot is the target. But wasn't meantioned rear and fron too? identifcal? The tire heat map on the right : green is bellow 70? yellow is bellow 90? and red is over 100? Also you mention you need to change the camber to add more. Hello Albert, thank you for watching and for your comment! We like people who are curious! Recommended tire pressures for the CUP2 on the 911 Porsche is 2.3F/2.5R. Operating temperature for the tires. Tried looking out for you for this information but couldn't find anything solid. That never really was our worry as it is not a deciding factor for purchasing any of these tires. Both of the tires, such as all the trackday tires are expected to be performing in varying countries, temperatures so the window of operation is quite wide in all cases. So much so that searching for something that can perform in lower or higher ranges would be looking for something really specialized. The color coding you are describing is exactly what you are describing in your text. Thsi is the coding our sensors are running. To our fault, the rear sensors were masked with tape over them (which is something we do to protect the lenses when the car is driving on the road) and that is why they are showing green all the time. This is also why we did not dive into temperature readings in this video. Last but not least, the alignment we were running on the car consists of -2.4F/2.0R camber. Hope this gets you covered for now and thanks again for watching the video.

If longevity is more then you will be definitely be getting your extra money back from the less often tire changes and also the extra kilometers you put down before needing to change them. And on top of that you will be having better cornering performance. It is kind of the same with brake pad selection. We always choose and go for endurance compounds which costs more than twice the money of a normal sprint pad, but in the end you get all of the money back by simply doing less work on the car and driving more.

As budget is not unlimited and these tests cost quite a lot to do, i think we will waiting a little bit lto see what kind of request you guys are asking the most and will try to get it done! The GY is definitely one of the contenders!

      Plus 1 for Goodyear R except we already know it will be slower. It does however stay way more consistent and lasts longer than cup2 so it’s overall the best value tire. Hope your test can incorporate those elements. Bridgestone Race is next level amazing but only fits 991 GT3 and a few other cars with smaller wheels.

    Why Nankangs Kosta?

    • @wdp_racing
      @wdp_racing Рік тому

      Alex! Well it all started many years back when I first tried them out. Since then, in terms of absolute grip/laptimes I find them inferior only to the Direzza’s G03 and the newly introduced CUP2Rs which also are on different price range. So the performance is certainly there. I have used them on the GT3 and apart from finding them very grippy i also like the stiffness of the sidewalls as they make the front end more pointy and responsive. Have you tried them on any of your cars yet?

    • @realstradman
      @realstradman Рік тому

      @@wdp_racing well I tried them twice on my Gt3 and had failures both times with sidewalls. As a result that was enough for me and decided I didn't want anymore of these.! Perhaps I was unlucky I don't know but back to back failures was enough for me to make my mind up. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I think at Spa you need to trim off the downforce and aim for max speed on the straights. My stock 991.2 GT3 manual did the same time as this on cup2 n1 and stock alignment & brake pads. Main difference: higher speeds at the end of the straights. There's just not enough high speed corners for the drag from the wings to be worth it.

      Hello there!! Yes we have seen your video online a couple of days prior to ours i think! That lap-time for a 991.2 GT3 is very very impressive and congratulations on that!! It certainly is in our plans for one of our future testings, to experiment with the different aero settings on the car, especially since it is that easy! I am very curious to see what difference that will make and how. Pouhon, Paul Frere, Blanchimont, Eau Rouge, i consider them all fast speed corners which are affected by aero. First, we need to set a nice steady lap - which the lap shown in the video isn't! :) Thanks for your comment :)

      @@wdp_racing Cheers, see you next year on track maybe. BTW which trackdays at Spa do you like? I've only done 2 so far and neither of them I liked very much. The last one was RSR and they just way overbook it... too many cars, too many slow rental drivers (or fast ones in slow cars) just impossible to find space... I spent all day to find 1 free lap

    • @wdp_racing
      @wdp_racing Рік тому

      @@JCviggen1 Well, this is an ever ending discussion really and based on my experience so far there are three things that make or break a trackday. A) It’s the amount of cars registered B) Thé safety briefing in the morning C) Luck The first two can be controlled but the third one is also very important in terms of what kind of drivers/egos are coming to that day and what car they are bringing. Usually towards the end of the day people get tired and the track is less busy. Feel free to send an email to zannos@wdp-racing.com to connect and chat about next years days :)
