idk the books but from what i know is that stannis is still alive and doesn't sacrifice his daughter. i think they knew he was not going to win so his arc was so rushed even though he was a fan favorite like bronn. but bron is a sell sword, we dgaf if he got deleted (mofo became master of coin not knowing what is debt lol). it's the biggest character assassination i have seen adapted. they had to do him like that because they knew we were all with him, we respected him, we understood he was THE badass even tywion comparing him to all the other kings combined the siege and the destruction of the fake vikings at their own game speaks for itself, he's like jon but highborn. i think ' that wasn't ned stark's way' is a bit of evidence that HE knew more about ned more than his 'brother' robert. the fact that no one wanted him proves their fear. they knew that they are corrupt to the bone, and stannis would have discovered what ned did, claimed it with POWER, not a paper like ned. he's a commander first hates politics but knows it's power corrupts the best and attracts the worse. we always say stannis 'duty and honor', despite telling jon that his father died because of honor ; meaning he would have been battle ready for the crown. nowadays, for true men, not nerds who watch it for dragons, stannis IS the man, the best honorable one, tywion IS the man, the best at politics. but, honestly they did him dirty they did it to everyone i. know, specially the freaking hero, jon. but imagine stannis is still beloved by fans even with the uuuugly deeds he he did, for ultimate power, if he wasn't legit the next king he wouldn't even budged, he was put in that spot. like my fav character of all time ragnar lothbrock they both say : i didn't want to be king, but we all must do our duty, stannis would have aided westeros and the peasants because he understands them, a man who lives in a siege, wife on the line, he took a portion, no bigger, no smaller. he says the world as a machine, stannis would have been a great guard if he was born into this class. like ragnar, he became earl to spare lagertha from single combat when she killed the viking who was going to grape a saxon, ragnar was put in a situation where he is obligated to fight the earl, he became earl, after all his voyages and wealth he shared everything, every earl that challenged him failed because people believed in him, he was THE MAN, so he was obligated to destroy the Scandinavians that were all waging war on each other. they wanted him to be a king, they followed him, a natural leader. the scene when he says i did not become earl for glory or whatever, i did not ask to be king but whispers into lagertha's ear i did not become king by ambition, but once again, i was obligated. I RULE. NOT YOU, NOT YOU, NOT YOU, and NOT YOU (except bjorn). these are some men you would follow blindly. his speech about the gods is so real, the option that he came to be deleted, just to galvanize the lazy warriors in his name. and he knew what he is facing by ruling : Power is dangerous, it attracts the worse and corrupts the good ones. and when asked are you corrupt by ecbert and like a badass saying of course. he understood the bigger picture, he even never forgot about the treason of ecbert when jarl borg attacked and he had to leave, obviously ragnar would have kept some fighters for security and basically every viking knows how to fight. but even after 2 decades, Ecbert was still his n1 target like he told ivar. he knew aelle is a scared pussy that can be taken down easily. ecbert(and athelstan), but ecbert is the one who was playing chess with them even in the cage when the sons were discussing what to do with him.

One thing many missed that Stannis always leads from the front in every war. Even Tyrion admits Stannis is a serious man. Ned Stark said “Stannis is a commander he leads men into war twice”. When confronted by his commander who said hundreds will die he said thousand and leads the army from front. He was the only one doing so not Jamie, Robb or even Tywin who are the most powerful men of Westoros.

Stannis has fortgotten how did his brother Robert get the throne , he get it because Ned stark and his men (northens) was in his side , that has allowed Robert to beat the Targaryens and their armies in the trident and in many other battles . While Stannis has refused to make alliance with Robb stark , if he did , he would at least get the iron throne from the lannisters . Robb stark was a very strategic and clever soldier and he has proved this by beating the Lannisters in their own home Castely Rock and in other battles without being defeated in all of them .if Stannis avoid his Arrogance aside, he would be better for him to make this alliance and then he could easily get the iron throne , but maybe he was afraid also from Robb because he doubt him that he wanted the iron throne for hisself after all what Robb did achieve , and especially that Robb has strong ally in the north and in the Vale . So that might explain the reason why Stannis preferred to fight using just his own army . Stannis was undoubtedly an amazing soldier and fighter , but to get the throne that will never be enough as Tyrion said . The fact is that the game of throne was bigger than Stannis , and Stannis has proved that he was not in same smartness and cleverness as his big brother Robert .
