It seems that you need to cap the fps to 90 or something similar. Try that out. If you need help just let me know.

Possibly on lower image quality patches. I have a 2060 and I had to install a downscale mod to even play on 1080p. A lot of people will have to wait until the emulator + BB get optimized better in a few months

The 4gb may be the most limiting factor

The physics work well, but I used a mod that improves the performance and stutters a lot, with the downside of messing up the physics.

With the rate it’s working I’m sure by summer of 2025 it’ll be really playable once they figure out a lot of stuff for the emulator.

@@OYME13 You can download an optional version of the mod with most cloth physics still enabled for your player and It was enough i didn't notice anything too egregious yet

There is a mod to fix intel cpus give that a try.

@@thefutureisbread it's because the game runs on ps5 at 30 fps anyway xD it runs better on pc most of the time. But what I wanted to compare in this video was mostly the visuals. That's why I didn't use any patches that modified the visuals on PC. Trying out a 1:1 comparison.

@ProteinGaming-97 60fps Even if I cap it to 30 the problem continues, Ive tried changing language, using the region patch, not using any FPS patches, using 30fps patch and nothing helps.

I even checked the changelogs of the diegolix build and there wasn’t anything relevant. But give it a try on your end and maybe it’s indeed running better

Your cpu is too weak to run an emulator, try locking the fps to 30 and using lossless scaling. i5 13600k+3060ti runs quite smoothly at 60fps most of the time.

@@shiroiidakku I strongly recommend using the version I suggest in the description, it fixes a lot of missing effects and sounds. Your cpu and gpu are better than mine so it should perform even better.

RAM usage rn is currently a problem and is highly demanding of that. Install mods to solve most of it but with the lack of ram it won’t do much

It's ironic how Bloodborne was ever the only PS exclusive I had interest in. Never bought a PS4, cuz fuck that, not for one freaking game. Soyny has ported pretty much every exclusive they have to PC now, except for BB. They must really hate my money.

@@KwabenaOfori13 for this comparison I used 1080p which averages to like 45fps. But when not recording I use even lower resolutions like 568p and the frame rates are usually at 60 or above, except some parts where there are a lot of effects and enemies

What's your RAM and VRAM? The game still has a memory leak problem, even if the biggest spikes have been fixed. I've got RTX 3060, 16gigs RAM and 6gigs VRAM. The game runs at stable 720p 30fps, 1080p 30fps with more frequent crashes. 60fps is just janky.

@@MrBig-jt5th should be enough. If the game starts lagging just quit out of the game, close shad ps4 and open it again. Don’t close the emulator without quitting out first otherwise you may corrupt your save

@@MrBig-jt5th You might experience the occasional crash, but you can definitely run the game.

@@Macho_Man_Randy_Savage that’s the main difference I noticed. You have a good eye as well. It seems to be broken at least on my pc. For cutscenes is worse but for gameplay I prefer the clearer image

Crashing upon hit is a common problem if you try and run it above 1080p, what resolution are you using?

Step 1, disable controller Vibration (or any Force Feedback settings) Step 2, try playing at lower resolution first like 720p, and then slowly go up to 768p, 900p, 1080p (try to completely kill the boss as you try each Resolution even if it's the same Boss)

@@morchewa1865 make sure you are using the latest 0.5.0 version or diegolix 0.5.1 version that you can find in the description. Also avoid to use any resolution patches for resolutions above 1080p. And disable any patches and put vblank to 1 if nothing else works

There's a fork that fixes all that crash.

@solid_snek yeah that’s true. However if you don’t use the 60fps mod and the frame rate goes lower than 30 the game will start playing in slow motion. That’s why I decided to use the 60fps patch

@@ProteinGaming-97 Hmm strange, I use the 30fps patch and the game runs indeed at a very stable 30fps, practically indistinguishable from running the game on PS5, aside the odd crash every 2 to 5 hours. Are we using the same build? I'm using the Diegolix FullBB branch build. At any rate, I very much prefer stable 30 to janky 60fps. No doubt the game is going to get further optimization still though. Cheers for being able to play BB on PC in the first place!

60fps makes a world of difference. after playing it at inconsistent 30 on PS5

Not sure if this is obvious but RX 590 similar to Xbox One X's GPU. ~3X more performant than base PS4.

​​​@@WaffleCake yeah but the 60 fps patch Is very heavy, i have an rtx 3070 + i5 10400f and it's not enough to have locked 60 fps, in truth, i see ~45 fps most of the time. (The emulator Is still in development and can't truly use GPU architectures well, as even though it's constantly at ~98% in game, only 100 watts are used instead of the TDP of 220W). And It stutter a lot of times. On amd gpus it's probably even worse.

@@WaffleCake well it's an emulator so CPU Is probably more important for fps, but from my experience i would wait some months for shad to be perfected, as nobody wants to play at 30 fps while stuttering.

Probably the RAM spike issue There are some walk arounds: 1/ install the RAM spike fix mod (the link is also in the description of this vid). But you still need to exit the game every 45mins-1h to avoid the RAM spike since the mods only helps to an extent, not fully fix the issue. 2/ go to settings, set "vblank divider" back to 1, then right click on Bloodborne icon, open Cheat/Patches, uncheck the 60fps patch and choose the 30fps patch. This way, you can play the game smoothly at 30fps for hours without crashing.

Vram leak issues, get a better GPU

ISLC also a good solution. Basically you must play in Windowed mode instead of Fullscreen. And then, whenever you're loading new map/new area, you manually click "Flush Memory". And by "New Map" or New Area I mean a completely different section of the game map. Not because you already completed that area before.

@@muhammadrafyabdulgaffur7489 unfortunately it’s not perfect. But if you are looking for the best performance do check the mods I put in the description for the physics. There’s also a fps boost mod you can download which will give you a big performance boost but you will lose detail in a lot of distance objects. Which can turn off some people

There's still a memory leak. I crash after 1-2 hours. It's inevitable for now. Shadps4 is still a WIP and there's some graphical effects and performance that need to be worked out. Another thing to note is the game will crash on some cutscenes if running at 60fps. For me on Linux, the Amelia cutscene, post rom cutscene, and Ludwig phase transfer will always crash unless I use a mod to fix that. Just give it more time. It's still an early dev emulator :)

Exactly. Nowadays it's sort of cheap and easy to get a pc better than mine. Which will run the game even better than a base PS4 already.

The most stable version should always be the 0.5.0 that you get from the main website. But I've seen the changelogs for the latest diegolix release and it contains some interesting commit messages: github.com/diegolix29/shadPS4/compare/release-shadPS4-2024-12-27-76fca7d...7b1c506. So maybe give that a try. About the sound do you get a message saying not to quit out of the game before you reach the main menu? When that popup appears for me, the audio stops working.

​@@ProteinGaming-97 yeah i get the very first warning pop up and then there is no sound. there some background sounds in game but clearly they are bugged for me.

@@Macho_Man_Randy_Savage Exactly. All you have to do is, go in-game, then go to the main menu and quit out. Shutdown the emulator and then run it again. The sound should be back.

@@ProteinGaming-97 thanks, that does fix it! it's really nice at 60fps. i can even run it at 1440p without too much trouble. i only have sfx restoration and vertex explosion fix for now as i don't wanna disable things and strip the game of its atmosphere. this takes me back to the days of des on rpcs3! another incredible game freed from obscurity...of course everyone knows it now lol

@@niestemp7670 if the the shad build you are using is working fine then don’t worry too much. But if you want, just download the latest 0.5 version and then copy the user folder from your 0.4 build into the 0.5 it should copy the saves as well. The mods will also transfer from one version to the other because you install them on the game itself which doesn’t care about which shadps4 it is being ran on.

@@GoYiTsU the goal is not to improve these games specifically but the whole emulator. Which affects all games. Think about it, you know that there is already a pc version for this game but maybe the console version has better stuff that the pc version doesn’t. For example dmc devil may cry has a definitive edition that only released on consoles, the pc version is inferior to that one. Allowing pc users to access that version would be a plus. The goal is game preservation.

@ I mean. The only reason Bloodborne runs so well it’s because the devs really focused on that game for example. That’s the game with the biggest improvements so far. What other games would you focus on?

For me it never crashed doing that. Strange. If you have all the mods I suggest installed and are also using the version 0.5.0. Then maybe try to avoid using them

You shouldn't need to yes. Just download the latest release of shadps4 and run the game. I do recommend also installing the vertex explosion mod and if you're on AMD the polaris fix.

@@howdy5017 that’s a good system. But 8gb really is small. When I’m playing the game it is usually using 12/13gb of ram

@@howdy5017 I mean if you think about it, it makes sense to use 7gb. It's trying to use whatever your system has. I really advise on increasing the ram at least to 16gb. And even that could still give some troubles. When I put some old ram on my pc to have 24gb instead of 16gb, the stability of the emulator improved. At least ram is cheap nowadays

Well I also get some stuttering with the diegolix build. If you prefer more performance without as much effects on screen, you could try running the main build of shad ps4. You will find it works better. Either that or reduce the internal resolution even more to like 480p for example.
