✅ About Quarterbacky Jones.
I love the game of football. After playing at the university level, it became apparent that I did not have the abilities necessary to play at the professional level. So, like many of you, I became an avid consumer of the NFL. During this journey, I became more aware of the game's nuances and wanted to share my understanding of the game with others.
We won't always agree, and I will always acknowledge my bias, but I try my best to provide proof for my takes and beliefs. Inspired by Jonny Arnett, I post weekly videos on NFL history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios, and current NFL topics. If you enjoy my content, please like, subscribe, and share with others. If you disagree with my take, tell me why in the comment section.
Many will ask, why do I wear a mask? This channel is not about me but the game we love. Too often, people take shots at the messenger without addressing or criticizing the point. This mask allows my ideas to be the center of our discussions.

    Derrick Henry deserves it too. He's been very good and has missed fewer games than CMC. But CMC is on a different level as a receiver, as well as being the best runner in the league last year.

  • @atgdcommish608
    @atgdcommish608 2 місяці тому

    First ballot. If he stays relatively healthy for the next 3 seasons, he will be in easily. CMC is already in the top 70 all time in touchdowns scored. If he scores even 15 TDs a year for the next 3 years he will go from 81 TDs to 126 TDs, which would put him in the top 10 all time. And he's already in the top 5 all time in scrimmage yards per game for his career, just behind Jim Brown and Barry Sanders (maybe you've heard of them), and ahead of a couple guys named Walter Payton and Marshall Faulk.

      Your points against are flawed in my opinion. Browns game. Not a good game, but still drove down and got the team in position for a game winning chip shot that was missed. Got concussed vs Vikings but still had 264 yards passing. Also, keep in mind that the niners o- line is bottom third WITH all world Trent Williams and they didn’t have Trent for the Vikings or bengals. Brock was still affected by the concussion vs bengals. Ravens game was flukey with 2 bad picks. Team still moved the ball well with over 500 yards of offense. Brock got snubbed for all pro and should be 2nd in mvp vs Lamar or win it because he’s got better QB numbers than Lamar even with his bad game vs ravens but I get it, head to head Lamar got the win.

      Thanks for watching first of all and stating your gripe! Well i certainly don't disagree with a lot of what you've said. I'm a fan, I think he's fantastic. But, I think it's important to understand that it wasn't just the Ravens game that made him lose the MVP in my opinion. Every QB had at least 1 bad game. I think voters likely looked back on his other bad games and concluded that his success was too contingent on too many external factors beyond just himself, whether we agree or not. Personally, i think he should have been second because of how efficient his stats were. Again, thanks for watching! @@BK-zp8vl

    Because a handful of other quarterbacks, with better numbers, who happen to be on playoff teams as well, it would be a travesty to give it to Lamar. The MVP is not given to who is the most valuable to his team or even who out performs in a head to head match up, no, the MVP is for the LEAGUE, not your particular team. Despite all of this Lamar is that dude though, having intangibles that a defense cannot fully prepare for; yet, he is still not the MVP.

    What you just said had nothing to with why he shouldn’t win and everything with why he’s a top candidate. He makes everything on that team happen. If you contrast that to Lamar, who is great, he is more of a benefactor I believe of the talent around him and the scheme being built for him. But if take both guys out of the roster and try to replace them, I would say Lamar is far less replaceable than CNC and that makes him the MVP this year.

    One thing should be clear, since it's in the USA: IF jackson hadn't got the MVP, media would have gotne rampant about "RACISM!" In all his career, Lamar wasn't even close to a passing season of Purdy's caliber. He also did everything in basically 15 games, week 18 not dressed at all, and a couple of games (Dallas e.g.) he just played 3 quarters.

    • @Quarterbackyjones

But yeah, Purdy’s numbers were historical. All he had to do was play ok, average even against the Ravens and the MVP would have been his. No one would have cared about the earlier games where he struggled. However, that meltdown was awful to watch for a player as talented as him.

    He lost it be being drafted 262nd. It's just selection bias. He's better than Josh Allen. People constantly rave about Josh Allen. Sure, Allen makes highlight plays, but many those are the opponent's highlights... 14 of 17 games with a pick for 18 picks this year. TEN 4-pick games in 93 starts. A nearly score of 3-pick games.

    • @yesmam7106
      @yesmam7106 8 місяців тому

      @@Quarterbackyjones Injury report said it was a concussion. Playing a week later doesn’t automatically mean a player is healthy of an injury people play injured all the time. Also yes you’re correct he did finish the Vikings game, but as I said there’s a clear difference before and after the play he was concussed on. My intention when pointing out he was doing good before the concussion isn’t to diminish the Vikings defense. It’s more so to do with people using the Vikings games as if it’s a prime example of him “struggling” without his weapons even though statistically he didn’t. It doesn’t help the defense was struggling those games as well. Also yes I watched the game and he passed the eye test for me. In addition it wasn’t deebo being out that was the big blow. I’d argue it’s do to the absence of Trent who is the glue of that o line. Specifically in pass pro the 49ers o line is below average with Trent. So without him it’s definitely even worse. Also another underrated part of this game is the kicker. Jake Moody missed 2 kicks that game which would’ve changed the complexion of that game completely. Aside from my obvious bias bottom line is I just think it’s a weird double standard when people judge Purdy for his losses compared to other quarterbacks when other qbs in the MVP convo have had terrible games and are still in it. Dak for example had objectively three terrible games like Purdy. Lamar has had weak performances as well statistically speaking throughout the season. However, the difference between these three is people never talk about Lamar and Dak having great o line support and a defense or the weapons they have. I’m not arguing for Purdy mvp, but I will always argue that Purdy isn’t just a product of a great system.

    • @Quarterbackyjones
      @Quarterbackyjones 8 місяців тому

      @@yesmam7106 you make fair points. I don’t see the issue with being a product of a good system. He didn’t choose to have a competent organization choose him. He’s done his part. Earlier you mentioned just because he played a week later doesn’t mean he wasn’t concussed. I won’t argue with that, but the organization, medical professionals, and he thought he was well enough to play. That means you can’t use the excuse of injury.

Now about Dak, I think the Loss to to the Dolphins wasn't really on him, but that Buffalo loss was not great considering Dak was in the MVP lead at that time. Keep in mind, Dallas' strength of schedule was one of the easiest in the NFL so it doesn't help that in games against elite teams, he was inconsistent. I think in hindsight Dak looks great, but his whole argument is based on stats, but other player have that over him (TUA and Allen). Are you saying the weak strength of schedule and inconsistency against top teams shouldn't matter?

      @@Quarterbackyjones In a logical world, you may have a point. But let's be honest, the MVP voting system is biased. Now, if you want to make the argument about Dak not being ahead of Tua, Purdy and Josh, you need to be more convincing. The week schedule isn't an argument, you just play who is on your schedule. And since when having the Seahawks, Eagles, Bills, Dolphins, Lions back to back is considered an easy schedule ? 🤔 Second point is Dak has way better stats than theses 3, he only had 2 bad games all season, the Cardinals and the 49ers. The bills loss if you want to put context in it had a bad weather, both QB couldn't throw, we don't have a running game and we got cooked by Cook, assuming the huge L smh! Josh had just 94 yds int this game. Other than that, Dak has a better resume that these 3, Purdy and Tua are loss without their key players, And Josh struggled hard at beginning of the season. But like I said, MVP awards are BS, Dak just got snubbed of the All Pro, and Josh is in, the ironie...😮‍💨

    I wish it would go to CMC. But it should go to Dak. I would not give it to someone with less than 30 total tds at qb.

      @@Quarterbackyjones bad showings? When he only has 9 int and the most passing tds? Noone has blown out more teams this year than dak. I would argue Lamar has had more games without a passing TD than dak and had to have a 5td game to just have respectable numbers. Let me get this right Lamar had over 1/6 th of his tds for all 18 games in one game and that is someone who is MVP?

      @@pipz420 at the 14:00 i mention that the TD narrative for Lamar is overblown. Fair points about Dak. Against teams over .500 Lamar is 10-3 and Dak is 4-4. In those Games Lamar has better completion and TD/INT ratio. So yea, I think Lamar MVP stats carry more weight. You'll come around

      @@Quarterbackyjones then I guess it is just about wins then? I cannot take Lamar as a serious MVP candidate and would rather it go to another position. If he wins MVP it is a joke to me. Ravens have a better defense than offense and I would even rank Josh Allen above Lamar this year. Of those 10-3 games you mentioned for Lamar how many of them did he have multiple touchdowns in?

    Your Crazy Bro if it's a QB it's Lamar or Dak. If it's a WR it's Tyreek or CeeDee. If it's a RB it's CMC. That's it. No Allen, Tua, or Purdy. Yes I'm a Cowboys Fan but I can admit Lamar probably deserves it because of the added rushing stats. Dak not even on the list is crazy.

      I dont think there's ever been a QB thats won MVP with stats like Lamar's. He just not good enough this year. His team is, he's not. It should be Dak or Josh. Dak had an amazing season and Josh Allen is truly the Most Valuable Player to their team. Not to mention he has so many more touchdowns than anyone else. If Lamar had even close to his stats from his first MVP year, it would be his no question. I like Lamar a lot, but he's not the MVP. Lamb isnt in the convo and Hill lost it the last few weeks. Tua has no argument. It's Dak or Josh.

      @@billsfan1725 Look at it as a process of elimination. Lamar has been relatively more consistent than every QB in the NFL. He's had the toughest schedule by far, lost numerous starters to injury on offense, but entering week 18 they were league leaders in rushing (he was team leader) and 2nd in scoring. Also, Jackson had the stats. Sure, maybe not the big TD numbers, but in 16 games he was ranked top 5 in all advanced passing metrics and total TDs and yards (cause he is a dual threat QB) he was up there. It was a process of elimination. When every QB had their moment as front runners for the MVP, they choked. When it was finally on Lamar because he wasn't as inconsistent, he shined.
