Dale Roberts makes a living in Liverpool talking about The Beatles and the city.
The Cavern Club Liverpool - Is This The Place Where It All Began? Liverpool Stories Episode #002
Episode 002 is a walk down Mathew Street and into The Cavern Club in a unique way - through the original entrance location. The Cavern Club has got a long turbulent history, confusing to those who live here, confusing to those who have visited and even those who know and love it well.
In 2019 Dale started doing scheduled daily tours of The Cavern Club for Cavern City Tours. This would become the first time scheduled tours have ever ran of The Cavern, making Dale the only person in The Caverns history to deliver tours of the venue to guests. Studying the history more than most, this brief video shines some light onto the changes over the years and also the importance of the venue in the history of The Beatles, The Merseybeat, The British Invasion and world.
Dale Roberts has recently become a part owner of George Harrisons Childhood home of 25 Upton Green in Speke.

This is the first episode of the Liverpool Stories Podcast, brought to you by @DaleLiverpool. The podcast will be bringing you stories from the city, from people who live, love and are connected to the city and it's ongoing incredible story. The podcast will be filmed in one of the holy grails of modern music - one of the early Beatle rehearsal houses. In terms of Beatle childhood homes, it is ...
This is a great way to help us get more independent knowledge and visual insight into stories about Liverpool, the Beatles, the way of life back then. Thank you for having the vision and to be not only a leader in such presentations, but also to humbly accept support and guidance from others. I look forward to learning from many more of these podcasts.
Absolutely fascinating, interesting, truthful. Thanks Dale for revitalising my old brain cells. You know I am a regular visitor to the Cavern. I love it atmosphere. I love its history. Your stories remind me of its detailed past, its ups and downs, how it gave people, like myself, the most vibrant live music. You and I first met when I went on your Cavern club tour a few years ago and I was mesmerised by your enthusiasm, factual tales, fantastic scouse accent! Keep on educating us because it is so important to get rid of the lies and myths about the Cavern and Mathew Street and The Beatles. The truth is the way forward.
Another great video, looking forward to the next one already. I,ve had many a happy night ( and day !!! ) in the cavern. I enjoyed the cavern club tour a couple of years ago, thanks Dale. So this video brought back happy memories. Well done, and thanks again.
Can’t wait to see more! Absolutely love learning all the history! I couldn’t imagine life without “that bloody rock ‘n’ roll”
Wonderful again. Thank you.
What is that place
I love the content, keep it up
Great video! I've been on the magical mystery tour twice with you being the tour guide both times, and it truly is one of the worlds greatest attractions! Learning about the history of the beatles and the history/legacy of Liverpool was very interesting, I came to Liverpool for The Beatles but I loved the trip for Liverpool itself, the history/legacy both musically and otherwise was very interesting and of course the people of Liverpool were consistently friendly, funny people. I loved learning about Skiffle and pirate radio in Liverpool, the story about the false titanic room is just a brilliant thing that just feels uniquely Liverpool.
You were the one who took us on the special mmt to celebrate paul's 80th Birthday in 2022, which was great! As it was still covid time, and the cavern was shut, the people on the tour got to go into the cavern & you told some wonderful stories & facts about it ( i won't mention what you let us do in there 😉 thats the tours lil secret lol) However you still need to let me know what date Jimi Hendrix played the cavern & was he with a band or just himself, think you said it was in the record books that are kept. Great video, look forward to the next one, keep up the good work, credit to your profession😊
@@pennylane6311 hahaha you make what I let you guys do down there sound so bad! I'm now intrigued 😂 As for Jimi, he's listed on the Wall Of Fame and that's why I reference him... But I've never been able to find that date. Full disclosure - I'm going simply off The Cavern listing him in the wall of fame. Jimi isn't my own research, me mentioning him is just a listing of wall of fame honourees.
@daleliverpool haha nothing bad, you let us sign our names on the wall in the cavern 😆🤫 I guess it will remain a mystery then, thanks
@@daleliverpool There's no mystery about Jimi, the brick shouldn't be there at all, he never came near the place. When I worked at the Cav, I researched every brick on that wall and Jimi is there purely on the rumour that he visited the club, not even played there. I spoke to a band member who did appear at the Cav on the night Jimi was at the Empire, as support to The Walker Brothers! (9/4/67) and the whole of his band were annoyed they couldn't see him as they were huge fans. Just to rub it in, this band's regular fanbase did go to the Empire leaving the Cav half empty, though they did re-appear straight after Jimi had played. They would have known if Jimi was anywhere near the place. Btw, Cavern management know these facts, but leaving that brick there looks good I suppose.
Another brilliant episode. Love all the little bits of info that you tell that people might otherwise find out. How on earth you remember all these facts and stories is beyond me.
Thanks! Believe it or not, I missed a lot out because I wanted to keep the episode under 30 minutes... Got to give people a reason to come on a tour! 😂😂
The bit about the upright of the banister Is not nerdy at all. It's the kind of thing that really interests me. Think of all that musical history that has touched it .
Wow, the Cavern Club has a very complex history. Thank you for this interesting tour!
Another great episode 🙌🏼
Absolutely brilliant work! Looking forward to next episodes!

Got yourself another subscriber 😊 Haven't yet done a Beatles tour & it's something I feel I should do! Visited Liverpool many times. My gt grandad was born there & I've been a lifelong Beatles fan thanks to my dad Expanded my own knowledge through many books & videos due to me working with a John Lennon Tribute back in 2019 and now working with Love The Beatles Tribute Band as social media manager Love your story and journey to how you got to do what you do now
