Baked Jacket Potato Tatties on cheap eBay folding camping stove
i wanted tatties (baked jacket potato). The folding stainless steel camping stoves seemed like a possible option, turns out it is. For single use only this time.
As well the the stove which weighs 1.050 kg or 2 lbs 6oz, I used gloves to touch hot components.
To process the wood for burning i used a Silverline folding saw. A small chopper and a pair of secateurs.
The twigs and wood i used were from a DIY/ building project, a Forsythia bush, a Buddleia bush, a Kerria bush, an old Oak planter and an old garden seat. Also some broken walnut shells.
i lit the stove with matches using newspaper and cardboard as kindling.
To prepare the potato for baking i used 30cm square or 1 ft square of aluminium foil. I washed and dried the potato, i pierced the skin of the potato
i covered the potato in vegetable oil (not tried olive oil or others eg nut oil) and sprinkled table salt over the oiled potato.
I firmly wrapped the potato in the foil.
The potato was in the stove for 90 minutes including when the fire was first lit.
Whilst the stove was burning well i fried some sausages as well.
After 90minutes keeping the stove hot and burning i removed the cooked potato, cooked just how i like them. ?How do you like yours what do you think of the stove.

    I'm not a perfect welder, though I've only done arc welding before which everyone keeps telling me is more difficult then MIG and we have just got this MIG welder to use for thinner metal. Using the arc welder I have made a tractor bucket for my tractor and that's lasted 20 years or more and the weights and forces involved that a tractor bucket goes through. Plus a crane jib attachment for it. Made tow bar brackets for my van and they've all lasted a long time. Totally restored my 6ft tractor topping mower that was rotting away, plus many other things. I would have cut some small pieces of thin metal, say 2mm thick. Bashed them on a vice or similar thing, to the rounded shape of the tube and then welded them over the holes to the surrounding sound metal. That would have also reinforced those areas and made them last a long time before it wears through again. Strangely, I will be doing this same job to my wheelbarrow with the MIG welder. Trying to fill a hole that big with weld is always difficult and messy. You probably got slag buried in the welds, which would make weak welds too. The professional welders call it porosity. But you got it to what you wanted in the end and that's what mattered.

    Bro, I have the same problem with my Yamaha DT125R, I always have to drive it with the hood up and if it goes down, the engine revs up and shuts off, and when driving it just chokes and shuts off. How did you solve the problem? is it just a lever problem or can it be solved by adjusting the carburetor, I cleaned it many times but it was worth nothing.

    • @peterh600
      @peterh600 4 місяці тому

      Very tough problem, basically a very hard to find air leak. Either at top of carburettor where cable is or airbox boot or inlet boot hard to detect can be intermittent with temperature.

    • @DusanGamingSerbian
      @DusanGamingSerbian 4 місяці тому

      @@peterh600 Do you think that the problem is in the intake of fake air into the carburetor, so it can't work without the raised lever? I've driven the motorcycle and it's very sharp and fast, the only thing I'm afraid of is that I might overheat it on the hills.

    I have a dt125 1hr 1987. I have just tested it and have the compression at 90psi on cold kick. Not sure when/if the piston was done. The work shop manual makes no reference for correct compression only says that the cylinder if hard to start should be measured and appropriate piston be installed based on block wear. Even the forums dont mention numbers for compression only that at about 16000 km the piston most likely needs to be reviewd and changed. So not sure if it applicable... maybe standard compression reading is conpromised by ypbs system or engine design. Looking at google , good compression on small 2 strokes is 120 to 180 psi ... hmmm.... my dt stars well, runs ok, idles well but hard to get front wheel up on hard throttle , so not sure if i should have more power or already tuned to the best of its power.
