There are people who are faking disorders on tiktok, mostly tourettes, but I think everyone would be less confused if we went back to making autism and Aspergers SEPARATE WORDS. Because this is a case where quantity/intensity has definitely got a quality of its own.

Medical gender transition of autistic children and vulnerable adults is the worst. Affirming them with no gatekeeping is a crime against humanity.

tHE "TROLLS" still do that to Switch games all the time. Games go from 'hard to run' 'looks too good to be on Switch' to 'not 60fps' 'ugly on Switch' when they are shown to be running on the hardware.

New Super Mario Bros. was the biggest selling point for me to get a DS. I was very happy with my GBA at that point and I didn't even get a DS until the Lite came out. I was also a huge fan of the PSP. I didn't get to enjoy Download Play much at all, because none of my friends had a DS (they didn't really handheld game at all), but one of my favourite experiences with it was in the launch line for the Wii. There were 49 of us that stayed at a local Wal-mart overnight and pretty well everyone had their DS with them. I played Mario Kart DS - a game I did not own - for hours against someone in the line via Download Play, whom I never even met! Incredible feature. I loved Trauma Center: Under the Knife! I was so hooked on it. It was an amazing use of the touchscreen. As you said, it was such a huge get to have FFIII on the DS. At that time, there wasn't a way to play it. It also lead into getting 4 Heroes of Light, which was bigger than FFIII in every way, but I think I preferred FFIII in the end. I could make comments about so many of the games you featured, but I'll stop myself! I loved this walkthrough of the history of the DS.

Hey H, it's Sylverstone! I've been watching this piecemeal over the last few days, and I gotta say that it's so great to hear an oral history of the DS like this! It's really reinvigorated my drive to get THIRD PILLAR off the ground by any means, and honestly, there may be some things here that you mention that I would love to use for future videos if that would be okay. Definitely a video that people should take a look at, or listen to in the background a bit. 😅

I've never played the Dragon Quest games. I was going to buy the Super Famicom remakes of 1&2, but now that they're getting the HD-2D treatment, I'm going to play all three on Switch. They look amazing. I thought the same thing about Echoes of Wisdom - it's the same "game breaking" idea of Ultrahand in TotK. I think it looks brilliant. I can't wait to play. I really enjoyed the reaction vid! I used to love your videos when you went to Nintendo World and used to cover all the E3 presentations. Lots of fun! By the way, I don't get to watch livestreams these days. I just don't have the free time. If I did, I'd watch this stream. I love the historical context. I like to think if I had the time to stream that I'd have a similar show.

Great video. I appreciate such a thorough, unbiased, clear and fair coverage of this. Im glad someone who can is being a voice of reason. Im sure this took a lot of work, so thats not a small thing. As a very small aside, this Buck Angel fella(who I have nothing against personally) has a bit of a cult following, and they say and encourage alot of unhealthy and harmful things in regards to autism, lgbt stuff, and just in general. Im glad someone is pointing out that they(even if secondarily, as they arent the direct focus of your coverage) arent being reasonable, and that some of the stuff they say and support is both just factually wrong, and harmful(again, having nothing specifically against them or anyone/body myself... just against inaccurate and harmful things/ideas, etc)

Some parents have several autistic kids. She might, you said she has 2 other kids, but if her other kids aren't at Noah's care need level, i guess she'd reject any diagnosis for them, because they're not bad enough to be autistic. My son has Asperbergers. My daughter is dyslexic, but neurotypical. I'm not "mad" at the DSM for anything. However i think Amber needs therapy. (She might get her own diagnosis?) She's using her special needs kid for cred. What is her healthcare job, anyway? Is she a nurse? Because I feel like she'd just say that. What are her professional credentials? *She never says she's an AUTISM advocate; she's her son's advocate, full stop. Maybe she should get off tiktok. How does she have time for that? Tiktok is a time suck and far from a necessity in life. Those kids can't make you cry if you put the phone down. Imo. * Would she prefer going back to the old terms, like idiot savant? Dustin Hoffman in "Rain Man" portrayed an autistic man, a savant. No diapers, but he couldn't take care of himself living alone. Would she disagree with that as autistic? My cousin was diagnosed, as an adult, with Asperbergers. He was in his 30s, a married father, with a professional career. He was having issues in his marriage, he'd always had certain social issues, and went to therapy, where he was diagnosed. Over TWENTY YEARS AGO. His wife said, I said, well that explains a lot! How old were you 25 years ago Amber? Lol. AND I'm old enough to remember when autism was discussed as still being the MOTHER'S fault, for providing too much love or attention or some weird thing. That was over *40* yrs ago. Doctors said yep, we're clueless, blame the mom.

Man this brings back memories. I don’t think I started reading Nintendo Power until 1996 or so but that era was great. They put a lot of thought into the art work and the magazine is a joy to come back to read. Great work!
