Do I need an FAA Certificate to work in Aviation MX
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 роки тому
This weejks video was about a question I had from a viewer. I was writing to find out some more on the FAA AET certification. Am I correct in the fact it is entry level and no prior aviation experience is required? I know a little about basic electricity as I've worked in building maintenance and currently work for a supply house, but I'd like to switch careers back to something more hands-on. ...

How to Troubleshoot a Magneto Part One
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
In this video, I have an opportunity to take a real-world problem I got called out on. A pilot reported a magneto problem on his aircraft, and I went through the first process of troubleshooting the problem. Part one will take us to the ordering of the parts we need. Then, we will repair the magneto in part two and reinstall it onto the aircraft. I am also promoting the live stream on September...

Hey.. thank you...Great Video.. I have a question: Do I need to be a citizen to get a 145 repair station?
I’m currently in the Air Force and been in avionics for about 13 years straight. I am excited about getting my A and P license and interested to see what insights you have to provide. Thank you for doing this live stream!
Thanks for your service. I was an avionics tech in the Air Force and had to get my A&P experience doing extra work when I worked at America West Airlines. Even though I was hired as an avionics technician at the airline, they were very accommodating while I was working towards my A&P
When I worked as an Avionics Tech for Continental Express Airlines in Denver in the 1990's, there was no Avionics license. They required the GROL.
Hi I want to ask you how can I open my own avionic repair station? I'm working under EASA rules, but the investment is expensive I think, but how can I gain avionic components? Which are in general the steps to start own business in this field? I'm waiting for an answer thank you very much
Absolutely I can help. But the first thing I do is set up a consultation and talk about what you want to do. Email me at Bessetteaz1@gmail.com
Thank you very much for sharing.
Can use my home as a FBO for my IA application since the regulations doesn’t state specifics such an airport hangar? I am applying for an ia endorsement to take the writing exam.
This could be a decent channel if you can fix the dialog and technical issues. Unwatchable currently as it's just 2 guys repeating each other over and over after messing with audio.
I couldn’t agree with you more. this was a first time ever live broadcast and Jose and I are classroom instructors. I decided to leave the video up for now than just remove it. I have had seven different jobs in four states in the last four years. So I haven’t had a computer set up for a long time. I just found my last position as a Chief Inspector for a new FAR 145 in Alabama. As soon as I find a new place to live I will setup my studio again to make videos again. be patient with me and I will begin doing videos again.
1st time viewer. New subscriber. Thank you.
My CFI and were going over this! It may be asked on my checkride!
Great Video 👍
Retired from the Air Force in aircraft maintenance and am now turning wrenches again in the civilian world. This is a great refresher and I actually learned new information. Thank you!
thanks. I am trying to write a whole book on avionics installation. hope to be done early next year
thnx
Let us know when the channel gets the audio setups correct
❤❤❤❤
Good video thanks for making
You helped me visual my GA textbook WOW!
Thank you sir.... I appreciate the efforts you put in to make such an informative video....
I’m wondering if there is anyone on the planet that has a clue about troubleshooting a Century 4000 auto pilot system. My plane has the Century 4000 coupled to the Century HSI and GNS 430W. Although I’ve been flying for years I’ve never had the opportunity to use an autopilot so I do not know if the problem I’m having is me or the equipment. It will not hold an altitude reliably: constant trimming up, trimming down and not by little bits. We’re talking several hundred feet of this up and down crap. Until I can find someone to check it out it is disabled. I’m hoping it is just my lack of knowledge although I have studied the manual and it passes all the pre-flight tests. Totally sucks if I have to scrap a perfectly good HSI and autopilot system just because Century is oiut of business and no one knows how to inspect it to ensure it is working properly. I think there is a good possibility the problem is either me or a simple fix. It would be nice to know one way or another.
Without looing at the manual or the aircraft I will give my suggestion to look at. You are discribing the alitude or VNAV function of the system. I would look at where the system recieves it altitude information. If it happing enroute and not on approach then there could be a separate altitude module in the aircraft. (look for a static system connections) or altitude information is from an air data computer. I do not have a Century 4000 manual so I cannot be of more help. Good luck.
@@AvionicsEducation No worries as I do appreciate a a reply. I suppose my post was a combination venting about the current state of declining general aviation and the hope that perhaps a reader who also has a Century autopilot (or other) and perhaps identify with my issue. I got my private cert back in 1971 and it is disconcerting to see the decline in general aviation over the years. Experience SMEs retire and there seems to be a gap in the supply chain of experienced technicians taking their place. Again, thanks for the reply & I’ll check out your suggestions.
Sorry about not being on as much. I am starting my 6th job in aviation in the last three years. I just moved, and now I am getting my computer set back up.
Miss the videos where'd you go
I have had 6 jobs in aviation in four different states in the last three years. I just relocated hopelully for at least a couple of years. The problem is I have been just renting rooms in other peoples houses so I no longer have a place to record videos. I hope this industry improves and I can settle into a single job. I wuold love to teach full time online, but there is no way I can make a living teaching today. Hopefully in the Fall I can find a house to rent so set up my studio again.
When are you going to make more wiring troubleshooting videos
I have been working on courses for my online website. I only create courses when there is demand. I am not monitized on UA-cam so its not worth making any more videos.
Hi teacher, Appreciating your time, is wonderful
Thanks informative information regarding the process to take the exam with the FAA.
Hey, I need to get this book
Hi, I'm an aircraft maintenance engineer, I'm proud for this video; it may be a ressource of continuing to reinforce my knowlogy
Is there a “rule” for how far off it can be when setting one. Like does it have to be within 10 degrees of let’s say north.
Thank you for making this. Coming from a different low voltage field and considering moving to avionics, this was informative. With regard to the first mil-spec alphabetical contact identification, I understand that the uppercase I (India), O (Oscar), and Q(Quebec) are omitted, but is it true that the exact same are omitted in lowercase? Intuitively, I was assuming that in the case of lowercase, l (lima) would be omitted as opposed to i (india), with the others making sense...
Thank you for providing this small community very helpful info.
Super helpful, got an AMT interview for Boeing tomorrow 🙏praying that it goes well. Thank you!
Thank you. Good luck on your interveiw.
If we weren’t required to have a magnetic compass then that would mess up A TOMATO FLAMES and that would be a disaster!
Hello my name is Ruben I am going to take the test on Friday any recommendations on what I will experience thanks
Unwatchable. The guys is fumbling around and jumping back and forth for the first 30 minutes with his zoom. Somebody needs to tell him his multitasking abilities are not there and maybe jist focus on the task at hand. He might have a lot of knowledge but just not built to be an instructor.
Your right. We are instuctors for real. But learing how to do the UA-cam thing has to be done the hard way.
I have a j3 Cub with a c85. I check the mags before the flight and get a 125rpm on L & R. I also have moved the mag switch to OFF and the engine shuts down. However AFTER my flight when I move the mag switch to OFF the engine will not shut down. I have taken the switch apart, cleaned it, ohm checked it and it tests good. What do you think is the problem?
You might have an intermitten ground wire from the switch to where ever its grounded. I might even be grounded through the switch mount and it could be riding on paint or corrosion.
High profile GA accident last few days. Timely
Great video, thanks for sharing.
It's not impossible, but you have to convince the FAA inspector that you are actively engaged in aviation maintenance, exercising the A&P certificate.
Thanks for the reply. It helps to have as much information as I can.
So if I'm working as a pilot, but hold an A and P, it would be next to impossible to ever get I A?
The issue for you is convinicing an FAA ASI that you have a need to have one. You must show you have been activalty enguaged in aviation maintenance for the prevous two years.
This explanation makes it incredibly clear for a student pilot to formulate a world class answer during a check ride. Thanks!
I am so glad to help. i am so glad to see pilots benifieting from this information
Sir You are providing a great service to our aircraft maintenance industry, many of us can definitely benefit from the avionics training you are sharing Great info Thank you much
Thank you so much for your interest. Right now I am in the process of rewriting all of my textbooks into a comprehensive Avionics Training Cirriculum. I am hoping that it will be the definiatvie Avionics Training reference moving forward.
Great lesson. I’m waiting for more wire and avionics system troubleshooting courses. Best regards!

Can I sign an 8130 without having a 145?
Great question. I am going to create a youtube video to reply.
The short answer is typically no.
😊
Hello sir Thanks for your video clips, are you still doing your online zoom coursing? If yes how can I get into your online courses? Kind regards
Yes, absolutely: I have been doing a Zoom session every Sunday night to a single student. I really would love to have a running class every sunday night. I just need some help from you, the potiential students. I had 650 hours created for my avionics program and we could pick and choose classes that you want. Let me know and help spread the word.
Thanks for your wonderful clip 🙏
Excellent explanation of the NCATT AET to a newcomer - thanks for putting this out!
Glad it was helpful!
Your website says all online course are cancelled (in big red letters). Will you be bringing this back anytime soon?
Thanks for letting me know. Yes I will be reactivating all of the courses again.
