Terrible terrible terrible instruction video. Why is it without any dialogue or actual instruction? It's just tacky music and pointing. I'm trying to install them right now and there's a lot of little things that you only notice when you screw it up and have to try to fix it. If they had actually done decent instructional videos (or decent written instructions) I wouldn't have to be trying to figure it out on my own.
that is sooooo smart!! i was just about to install a standard cat door in my parents bedroom door so they can sleep with a closed door (one of our cars is my dads favourite and insists of sleeping in his bed but also loves running around the house at night) *this is perfect, and it looks so much better than a normal cat door ❤

The Flap is intended to be ether open or closed, not act as a moving flap
The Kitty Korner door might serve a purpose to let cats in, but keep dogs out, which will work only if cats are smaller than dogs. If the Kitty Korner thing was working for cats at a day and age when cats were larger than or equal in size to dogs, the dogs could go through, too. Cats will use their litter box under only one condition: they need to feel safe in their litter box, which might not always happen when there are gross dogs, trying to get in to eat the cat feces. Ew!

Why is a hinge 38 bucks, couldnt I just a normal hinge with a magnet catch?
The Kitty Korner is a purpose designed, patented one of a kind hinge made to work for this very purpose. If you tried to use a standard piano hinge you would find that the "Flap" you created when cutting the door will not swing open as it will strike the floor. This is why the patented Kitty Korner, SlideLock hinge slides up and out of the way before swinging to open or close.

They are! Man, I guess the DIY spirit is out the door on this one! I was thinking some old hinges laying around + a few magnets to keep it open/closed in position.
I was going to do this with a cheap hinge and then realized there is no elegant way to keep the cutout locked open or closed. Yes you can use velcro or magnets but this is much more elegant and secure.

We just installed one and now have happy kitties and happy people. Door can remain shut for noise and distraction. Person does not have to get up and let them in and out

What do I do if I have a much larger cat. Can this hinge accommodate cutting higher in the door?
The Kitty Korner dimensions are 10" X 14" X 10" a few people have cut an equivalent hole in a cardboard box to test whether their cat can fit. Up to this point we have not had anyone who has a standard domestic cat have a problem. There are a few exotics and cross breeds who are quite large that would have an issue. Kitty Korner does NOT recommend making the cut longer as most US residential doors are hollow core and the extended cut will create an issue mounting the Kitty Korner as designed.
