This is SO USA! Anyone get what I did there? Anyway, this was part of our meeting last week (June 27, 2015). If you were there, you got to see and hear it live; if not, here's a recorded version.

One of many outstanding performances at our get-together last week. Mr. Tolentino was our featured guest performer, and he knew we'd love this Scott Joplin piece.

Quite unique! I like it. So nice meeting you today at the Ragtime Society meeting, Mark.
Her tempo is slow but her feel is right!
Great to hear someone playing this tune ! Thanks for sharing
Beautiful Waltz absolutely - why is the great muscian playing this 'banging' the keya so hard like it's a hovel or bar in 1901? Suggestion here...lifelong musician feedback. Play Joplin's waltz, but.... think Chopin as you play it. Play that piece like you think Frederic wrote it. It would sound infinitely better.
Because it's not a funeral march? you want people to fall to sleep
@@dragorn3212 The room is just very LIVE. All the notes are drowning each other. Beautiful waltz.
Very poor audio!
We readily admit we are amateurs in the audio department. Feel free to find another video of a live performance with better audio, sir. We do our best with what we have.
I did not mean to offend you.
I think it's pretty good
Well then this surely isn't a minor problem to you then I suppose, huh Dr. Camann? Hehehehe :)
I'm looking for the sheet music too.
Superb! probably the best piano version I have heard.
This isn't the complete piece, and it isn't merely because of copyright. He seems to have stopped after just one iteration of the trio. He should have continued with the final strain. Its patterns are rhythmically simpler than those of the trio. I'm wondering if he knows how it goes.
Anyone knows where to get the sheet music of this beautiful piece?
I wasn't feeling well yesterday, so I didn't play as well as I normally do. I'm happy this performance turned out well at least!
Lovely performance, Jack. ***** RagJazzMonkey Tom
The second "Hoosier Rag" was written by S. Jergensen. I can't remember what it sounds like... Perhaps one of my selections for the next meeting!
Thanks for your performances!
Many, MANY thanks for posting this! It was great fun playing this with John.
Nice job, Chris! This is one of my favorites to play, and I agree, this and almost all ragtime "should never be played fast." :-)
Hey, I have plans on moving to san antonio and scott joplin is my favorite. Can I look you scott joplin fans up?
Scott joplin was the first composer I studied. It is said on many of his compositions "do not play this piece fast..." Scott joplin would often play slower but more deliberate and I often take pleasure in the harmonics playing scott joplins way.
Fantastic- That drummer is sick!
Brilliant performance of Frank French's evergreen. Both Mimi and Brian will be at this year's (2013) West Coast Ragtime Festival in November. Maybe if we ask real nice, they'll play this again!
Not the Mark Morton I was looking for but good job to this guy.
I"m so glad someone caught the elderly couple dancing--magical moments for music festivals in public places like this! So glad to see it again here on the internet!
Excellent playing at a perfect pace.
Wow. Interesting. I'm not so sensitive. I didn't notice any major distortion, but I could listen to ragtime almost anywhere. Thanks for commenting, though. When I record, I simply use the camera's microphone. I'll keep that in mind going forward.
The damn acustics made the peice unbearable to listen.
Nice work, sir... did you learn this piece by transcription?
Bravo Bill! Wish I could play piano like that. Graeme, Scotland
Outstanding!!
Very nice and amused version with excelent banjo technique!!!
Brilliant!
Great to see you playing again; I hope you will make Sutter Creek's RagFest.
Wow... I believe you both are getting even better! and it is still such a great song too. Thks for posting! Ed
What a lovely, pensive performance by this young lady. I hope to see more of her in the future!
It appears some people are indifferent to greatness, huh?
For three minutes and 25 seconds the corpulant lady sat there and gabbed on her phone before she was asked to leave!
What a tremendous pair!Perfect balance and harmony producing some of the best JAZZ ever!
Nice job Larisa! Now that I know you preform in San Antonio, I'm gonna have to come see you! Nice job with this Joplin piece; it's one of my favorites. ~Michael~ Also, that piece that opens up the video is her Flying Tomato Rag. Such a wonderful rag!
Keith Emerson plays a version of this so fast he's sweatin!!
Thank you. I'm curious. Was it for that time frame (27-42 seconds) or the whole piece? I'm hoping it is the latter...
27-42seconds great man I really like this piece.
