    Your video helped me so much. I was terrified and I had it this past Monday. I put a facecloth over my eyes so I didn't feel trapped, and they let me listen to music in the headphones. It was over so quickly and I actually started to doze off. Don't be scared people, it's fine.

    Instead of interpreting each loud noise as a scary sound, I found myself pitching the notes of each sound that I heard…nerdy 🎵 I know but it helped. Hearing music definitely helped but more importantly, closing your eyes and being reassured throughout so you’re kept informed. Knowing you can be released quickly if you can’t cope, helps too so the pressure is taken away. Excellent description and tips from the guy in this video. 👍

    I recently had a similar scan in France that also involved a radioactive tracer being injected. It was to look for any possible cancer within my bones after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. However, I was allowed out of the hospital after the injection and was free to wander around town and have a coffee at a nearby cafe with my wife for about two hours before returning for the scan. A bit odd, I thought.

  • @----I...have...no...clue....

    I had a Pet Scan in California last month. After being injected with the tracer, I only sat for fifteen minutes before being tested> Something seems odd?

    I was very anxious before the scan due to not liking tight space i cant get away from but the staff at castle hill hull tuck you in you have ear plugs and then noise blocker pads the best part is the cool air thats blowing through the unit keeps you cool and a lot calmer,i use white noise to help me sleep the noise the unit makes is pretty damn good not scary or oppressive after 25 minutes you are nearly asleep i was in for a lumber scan and the angle gave an ache all the way through as on my back thats when it hurts apart from that i would say to anyone that may read this enjoy the time and its over quicker than you think i hope this will help others .

    How do you cope with the loud noise? Even with headphones, the noise from an MRI machine must be deafening. It must takes a lot of self-discipline to keep still with loud noise going on.

    Good news with MRI is with new technology scan times are reducing as time passes. More wide bore scanners are introduced. Hopefully, one day we will also have a sound free scanner, if not already out.

    When I had the appointment for the scan I wasn't scared at all but everything changed when I got inside the machine. I didn't expect it was such a narrow space. I thought it was spacious enough but it's not so I got shocked and my heart beat increased. I felt I could get choked for breath but it wasn't so as the AC was on in the machine.

My heart goes crazy and I’m so out of breath and find it very difficult to breathe. The only thing I wish.... I wish we knew what the scan said before we leave. 🥴

  • @cafe1234arsenal
    @cafe1234arsenal 3 роки тому

    If you can, tilt your head up and look out through the far-end hole of the scanner. It should ease any claustrophobic feelings. Also if you like techno music, you wouldn't mind the electronic sounds that much. Usually, they play music, so, instead, you can focus on it.

    I been a MRI tech for 4 years! If you have high anxiety I have a few tips for you! Bring a friend or family member to come in room with you! Ask if they have music for you to listen while getting scanned, cover your eyes with a wash cloth or ask your doctor for a sedative before you schedule the test. Also ask the tech to give you a count down during the scan. Ask them to talk to you every 3 minutes. This really helps.Remember breathe normal. Pretend you are going to sleep or think about a fun time and just focus on that. Avoid caffeine. The tech will always give you a emergency call button if you have to come out. Ask if you can take a look at the machine before the scan. If this fails , look for a open mri in your area.

    • @BIG_DRU
      @BIG_DRU 3 роки тому

      The 3 minute count downs from the Tech really helped me a lot plus counting the minutes to myself helped me know when the 3 mins was almost up....the Brain scan is the worst with that cage over your face....pumping that cool air through the tube makes a difference too.....best thing is to close your eyes before you go in the tube and keep them closed....

      As one who is severely claustrophobic I've been able to successfully complete two scans but have a third coming up and my mind has wandered to a question I have never seen asked; In the extremely unlikely event that my technician would become incapacitated (for example faint, stroke, die) during my scan and unable move me out of the machine during a panic attack would I be able to extricate myself? In other words, are the constraints such that only a technician and not a patient would be about to unlock them?

    Lovely clear presentation. Omitted a small detail which can be worrying if you haven't been warned - that the rush of warmth might be accompanied by an urgent need to urinate. It's OK, you haven't weed, and you won't. I've had a few CT scans at different hospitals, and perhaps I've been lucky but I've always been told exactly what is happening and will happen.

    I had a third brain scan today. The staff were brilliant. This scan seemed longer than the two before and, I felt, it was noisier. The lady who made me comfortable put a support cushion under my legs and also some pads for my ears as well as ear plugs. She gave me an alarm to squeeze if i needed any help during the scan. It took about 30 minutes. I needed a dye injection halfway through and after that the time passed by quickly. Overall, it is not a pleasant experience because of the noise and physically you feel as if you have been on a long train journey, but it is over quite quickly.
