Stumbled Upon Paradise: My 'Oops, I Got Lost' Adventure
I expect that the paved track was a pack horse route, from the days of hand loom weavers, when horses and mules would be used to carry the heavy cloth pieces from the farms and cottages to - probably - the Piece Hall in Halifax, where they'd be sold.
I never thought of that but it makes sense
@@idiotanddog Well, a farmer might have wool from his sheep, but before it could be woven into cloth it would have to be washed & spun into yarn, so it would be taken away by someone with a train of pack horses and delivered to a small mill that specialised in doing those things, then returned to him, and the finished cloth taken away to be sold. Think of the pack horse drivers as the parcel delivery drivers of today, picking things up & dropping them off all over the area.
Keep up the good work love the new additions to your video edits getting better pal
Thought it'd set the tone for the kind of content I'm making, a bit daft. Not too serious
Spot on your a pro in the making looking forward to the future of the channel and give doctor a pat on the head from me coz he's really the brains of the show lol
@sonofmanson4876 he very is. Says thanks for pat
Ow do lad. You went up onto Erringdon Moor through Broadhead Clough Nature Reserve. "Some place called Bell House" ... was the home of 'King' David Hartley. No mention of the Cragg Vale Coiners? And you walked past his house!
I did mate, me and the dog even walked in front of it looking for a route home. I'll know for next time and I'll be sure to mention it.
ua-cam.com/video/tLyqq2GXIcI/v-deo.html
@idiotanddog ahh OK mate. Il keep watching future videos now
@chrisuttley5716 thank you
Nice video! God's country, best place in UK. Where I was born and raised. You were nowhere near stoodley pike though 😂.
Glad you enjoyed it. Nope I was not, but closer than I've been yet. Watch this space and we might make it yet
@idiotanddog why don't you park near hinchcliffe arms pub, walk up to dog bridge and secret steps(it has history ) then straight up other side to stoodley pike that way, honestly a lovely walk , you won't be disappointed.
@chrisuttley5716 I don't drive but I do know the way to The Hinchcliffe. I pinned my first Cragg Vale vid at the top. Like I said I would at the beginning of this vid. If you get the time to watch it please let me know the route, if it's clear
Great video man keep it up lovely countryside
Thank you. I'll jeep on trekking with the hound

Nice video. Didn't know that place existed ! By the way, 27.6% subscribed is actually a good result for UA-cam. There are plenty of channels with less than 20%.

@@idiotanddog Notification is already on Bro...Oiiii Oiiii....
Was a single line opened in 1878 and closed in 1958 and used a small saddle tank engine because of the size
Thanks for that. It definitely fits in with the width
Great compilation. You can be proud of yourself for that ! 😊
There was once an overflow channel from the canal under the "bridge more like a wall". Notice that the stones of the wall have rounded tops - they are identical to those that are above the overflow channel that's near Whiteley Arches, just west of Hebden Bridge, and there's a stream feeding the canal opposite, and the overflow is there so that during heavy rainfall, excess water from the stream could flow straight across and out again.
Definitely a structure with purpose. Cheers. Now I also have to get out to Whiteley Arches. I'm not familiar with Hebden Bridge but I'm guessing it's a well known spot. I wonder if the overflow channel will ever be unblocked? Surely that'd have potential to prevent flooding
@idiotanddog The overflow I mentioned is about half a mile towards Todmorden from the Stubbing Wharf pub. The wall is identical to the one in your video, except it has a walkway made of thick wooden planks running alongside it, and the water from the canal flows under the wall, which is raised about a foot from the ground on plinths.
Awesome Stuff Brother..Looks so much different at night, Some of it reminds me of Old London town in some areas..Great stuff as Usual General and Doctor..Lovin the content Keep up the good work my Yorkshire Brother..Will have to get a train down sometime and do a meet up, and a Pint...Oiiii Oiiiii.....
Definitely gotta have a meet up soon
And a BIG THANK YOU To you my Brother from The Yorkshire regiment..Your doing great my friend, will try to return a thank you vid if I can...Never thought about taking The Doctor on indoor Explores....Keep doing what your doing General Bez, BIG Respect to ya Soldier get them Subs up your flying Bro....Oiiiiiii Oiiiiiiii......STAY SAFE SOLDIER.....
Looks like foul weather over the next few days, with very strong winds so be careful out there - falling branches or slates coming off rooves are scary ! Good idea to have some fallback footage, especially over winter when getting out might not always be possible.
It's horrible out there at the moment. No filming unfortunately. This sodding winter 😵💫 Gotta keep me and pup safe
@idiotanddog Here's an idea - a compilation video of some of your best summer walks. Might help cheer us up during the cold, dark days ?
@Kevin-mx1vi thank you 😁
@idiotanddog 👍
