"It doesn't matter" i gotta try this mentality
I really like your style of pottery and throwing. I love wood fired pottery and just learning how far you can take the clay.
What is the small thin sponge youuse to check the thickness of the pull?
Scotchbrite sponge cloth 17cm x 19cm 2 sheets per package. I cut each sheet into 6 sponges. They are usually in the housecleaning section of the grocery store. New subscriber - love your vibe and your work!
Welcome. Thank you!
This is such a BEAUTIFUL PIECE!!!❤
I really like that you showed us your technique! Beautiful
Beautiful. I just pulled my first handle this morning ironically on a pitcher. Now that I’ve watched this I want to do another with a dart ❤
Boy, I love watching and listening to you work with clay. You're like the Bob Ross of clay.
I love the verb “juzsh”!
Lovely! Thank you Sarah
What is the sponge you are throwing with?
Very elegant looking! Can’t wait to try this!
Loved it! Will give it a try!
you are an amazing teacher!
Beautiful! Thank you
Very cool, Sarah! Thanks for sharing your technique!
Awesome.
I really punctuate exactly this with my students 👍🏽💯💪🏽
sehr sehr schön ❤ so etwas außergewöhnlich schönes habe ich noch nicht gesehen 😍
Such an elegant form and flowing alterations🤩
This is amazing. Love how you explain and we can clearly see what your doing. I was going to ask about the clay you are using also. What I use would never withstand that altering. Which one are you using ?
Thank you! I use Laguna Clay. This is Miller 850 Cone 10. Any cone stoneware should work for you.
@ what could I use for cone 6? I use a community kiln and can’t fire over 6.
@@CynthiaEmbry A cone 6 clay body will be just fine. Just start with a stoneware because those clays tend to be more forgiving. Have fun!
Beautiful demo!! What a form!! 🎉❤🎉
Sarah, I love your teaching narrative! You are so cute and informative at the same time! I will keep watching for more content from you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You are a marvelous teacher. I hope you and your loved ones have recovered from the hurricane. I look forward to eventually visiting!
First please subscribe to my UA-cam channel and then click "follow" on my Facebook business page. facebook.com/SarahWellsRollandCeramicArt I will be live streaming on this Wed morning. Coffee and Clay. I usually announce the time the day before or earlier that day. Thanks for watching!
do you add anything to your slip?
Not really. Sometimes I deflocculate it to make it thinner so it's easier to screen but then I flocculate it back to the thickness I want. I don't thin with water as that increases the shrinkage rate of the slip. This can really be an issue when applying thick slip.
how do I find out about Wednesday's education?

I fire to cone 6 and have been messing around with different clay bodies, Little loafers. dessert buff , moon white , ( exactly what you suggested NOT to do ) and now that High water will not be available as my supplier , I am wondering if you have a recommendation for a good cone 6 clay that is soft to throw and alter ?
Hi Joanna, We are a laguna clay supplier. Here are some clays for you to consider. Little loafers-Bmix5 Desert Buff-Miller 55 Moonwhite-Miller 65
You are brilliantly wonderful ❤ ty !!!
Woah, I had no idea. It seems so simple now!
Thank youi so much for sharing this!
I Love your process and narration. Glad to see you finding a way to continue your work after the floods.
Thanks for your kind words and support!
I love what you class!
I love everything about this video. The form, the throwing, the narration, the artist’s philosophy and approach to her art and medium. The only thing I don’t like is that it ended before the end, and I don’t know where the artist works (I’m in Minnesota).
And, I just figured it all out. Pouring forms are so gestural, and really fantastic. Subscribed, and thinking about buying an online course.
Wonderful! Thank you.
Amazing to watch the metamorphosis of clay to a gorgeous pitcher…looks like a giant bulb (garlic clove, shallot, onion) about to burst into bloom. Just inspiring and lovely. I enjoyed your teaching style also. You are so encouraging and positive. Hope I can do a version of this🫰🏻.
It's fun to see what emerges from the clay. Thank you!
Excellent tuition video, thanks very much.
Glad it was helpful!
i found an interesting method of making a lid fit better. You make the outside part of the lid a little too small and thick and then trim it down to fit after it is leather hard.
You are an excellent teacher. Thank you. I’m so pleased to see a proportionate handle on your mug. So tired of seeing ridiculously oversized handles. Robin Hopper used to compare handles that were too big to a long strap on a heavy suitcase to explain how ergonomically absurd that is. Not to mention aesthetically unappealing. Congrats on getting your studio back. I imagine that was a Herculean job. 😅
Very nice. Hey, you should probably get one of those cheap lapel microphones. Your voice is coming in a little low
Thanks for your sharing
So critical to have this Birds Eye view.
Beautiful as always! You are the Mr (Mrs) Rogers of pottery!! 🤩👍🏽🥳🙋🏻♀️💪🏽💯💗🙏🏽
Thank you! That's such a wonderful compliment!
@ you are a treasure!
Great explaining and demonstrating! thank you
