And so.. why do you need that socket.. ? It seems redundant to me ...
wait wait wait.. You tellin' me I was supposed to clamp it first and THEN righten it? After all these years?!?! My dad always taught me you tighten / loosen it first and then clamp it and if it doesn't fit, you loosen or tighten it some more!
@Sidicas If you want it super tight then yep, that's how you do it.
I ugga dugga everything with a half inch. Including head studs and rod caps. I know they're never coming back out again because most of the time they break off.

No, what you do is tighten it finger tight, then open the jaws, give it another turn and then close it.
@wirebrushproductions1001 Yea that works to
It's not the same. You can get it way tighter using the hex.
@dogbot55 Yea that's what I was trying to demonstrate in the video I'm glad someone got it 👍 😅
Mine doesn’t have that
@@lieutenanteclipse9975 you can remove the back tightener and replace it with a bolt.

Ok. Ok. And I have just replaced my brakes, all paid for. And I did not know this! What is the price difference. If it's comparable. I shall now kick myself. The questions you didn't know were there to ask, until after you needed to know.. by like 2 days!
@1stRiggerChick If it's just a daily I wouldn't worry about it just use any Pads and she'll be right mate
Thank you for this excellent tutorial. What is the spray you are using?
It is brake cleaner.
Well, once the electric thing is there , this is next aye, get you wallets out peeps, cleaner is better and that is all.
While exhaust only accounts for a small amount of fine particulate pollution it accounts for considerably more gas/smog pollution. carbon monoxide and other harmful chemicals that are the result of incomplete combustion come from the exhaust
@serbianspaceforce6873 yea its crazy how the overall vehicle can produce so much waste in its life time.
@@SouthSideMobileBrakeService. people don't realize that all those hundreds of gallons of gas you burn has to go somewhere. it doesn't just cease existing when it goes through the engine
I did not know that holy shit dude
@brucebruce3964 Yea dude crazy.
Could electromagnets be used as brakes?
Ceramic brake pads chew up rotors. But they stop good
@brianmorgan4627 Yes, that's correct. They mate a massive lip on the Rotors as they are a very aggressive Pad.
Only when they get to temperature. Carbon ceramic brakes are worse than standard metallic brake pads at low temperatures
@cameron1999cam Yes, built for different usage, I suppose.
Now this information is needed . I knew you could be a big asset
@@Dnbme2d 😊
Well then it's good that EV barely uses the brakes :D
evs generally have waaay too much torque, they chew through tires and brake pads like nothing.
@@Martin.Brennwald That's right, I have looked at Tesla's that have over 150 THOUSAND Kilometres on the vehicle with the original pads!
@adventa2358 I find the Pads last so much longer in my experience.

Didn’t open the bleeder to retract caliper piston.
@stephenharriau1406 No Need, if the brakes are flushed correctly it makes no difference
Got a bit of a squeaking getting brakes done soon car wont be going for another year but i still would like to stop before hitting a roo
As someone who works with melting metal and has never went to a mechanic shop to fix his car. Those rotor are fine, level the face out and send it. I’m sick of seeing such a waste in good parts. They’re not bad you’re just a shitty mechanic and machinist Or you’re really hard on cars and that says alot given the thrashing I put my shit through and shit just don’t break. From flipping cars for fun to drifting. If your rotors break even with half the thickness there than you’re probably doing something you’re not supposed to. Calipers only have a limit function and warping a rotor to the point of catastrophic failure requires high speeds and high weight, at that point breaks won’t even matter let alone betting that caliper would hold up longer than the rotor. It’s not gonna happen. Before any signes of rotor failure that caliper would have been failed. Resurface and reuse that damn thing and stop acting stupid behind the wheel
First off, it’s not his car so he kinda needs to go over the top because he can get into a lot of trouble if something does go wrong with them. And second, you shouldn’t trust the disk once it comes into contact with the metal on the brake pad
I make a shape pattern on box. Use the side with no print

@steveninnes310 Thanks Steve!
Noooope! never machine rotors and re use them creates micro cracks, the new pads will not bed in properly and you will be doing it all again within 6 months or so, depending on braking habbits. Should use caliper tool to measure them if they appear to be in good shape, there is a wear limit on ALL rotors. If the numbers aren't within spec the rotor is no good George.
@brandonstennes4931 yes I agree, I don't really Machine rotors and only supply new ones
@@SouthSideMobileBrakeService. New is the proper and correct way, saves your behind in case the customer pulls the " well ever since you worked on my vehicle last" card.
There is a minimum serviceable thickness for rotors and those rotors look too far gone to machine. Machining is fine if there is enough metal left but having said that depending on the brand sometimes new rotors is a good option.
@@brandonstennes4931 💯
@@robertvanruyssevelt7159 Rotors are designed for one time use only these day's, very rarely does a brake job come in where the minimum serviceable thickness is within what the numbers call for. Even then machining them will cause micro cracks and the new set of pads will not bed properly. I Watched an old boss I once had machine a few sets of rotors perfectly, we both took a side & put them back on the vehicle(s) with a new set of pads, everything that needed to be serviced, serviced and the customer was back in about 6 months to do them again 🤷🏼 lol. The ole machine & pad slap is a no no, guranteed to cause problems and an angry customer.
Not sure why but I have never once had one of those wear indicators actually work
@starlitstreet Really? I have seen people bend them when installing them, so they never touch 🤔
