Game Changing AI from Stanford - Alpaca
Discover the Stanford Alpaca model, a revolutionary AI that's redefining the world of instruction-following language models. In this video, we discuss what is so game-changing about Alpaca, a fine-tuned version of Meta's LLaMA 7B model, which demonstrates impressive performance while being surprisingly small and cost-effective.
We discuss Stanford trained Alpaca on 52K instruction-following demonstrations and evaluated its capabilities through human evaluation by our student authors. Stanford demonstrates results of head-to-head comparison between Alpaca and OpenAI's text-davinci-003, where both models showcased similar performance across diverse user-oriented instructions like email writing, social media, and productivity tools.
Stanford's blog post announcing the Alpaca LLM:

If the demo doesn't work for you, you can try to install it on your desktop:

If you wish to fine-tune your own Alpaca 7b or 13b, I suggest using my cleaned dataset rather than the original alpaca dataset:

AI Showdown: ChatGPT vs. OPT vs. BLOOM - Which Language Model Reigns Supreme?
Переглядів 19 тис.Рік тому
In this AI battle, we pit GPT, the state-of-the-art language model developed by OpenAI, against two of its top competitors: Meta's Open Pre-Trained Transformer (OPT) and Big Science Group's BLOOM. All these models are sized at around 175 billion parameters. We will put each model to the test on a variety of language tasks, such as text generation, language translation, and question answering, t...

Get Stable Diffusion running on your AMD GPU without needing CUDA. Note: Tested on Radeon RX68XX and 69XX series GPU's with Ubuntu 20.04/22.04 and ArchLinux. User reports indicate this method is working on several other GPU's including Radeon VII, Vega 56/64, 6700(XT), 6600(XT) [with env workaround], and even 5700(XT) series (see below for additional step). Should theoretically work on RX470/48...

Godot vs. Unity Part 2: Pushing each Engine to its Limits!
Переглядів 22 тис.3 роки тому
This video is 2nd episode where we push Godot 3.3.2 to the very limits by removing the overhead of the Nodes and implementing a PhysicsServer. We try various tweaks and code optimizations to push Godot Physics where it's never been before. We also look at Unity DOTS physics and compare its performance to Godot's PhysicsServer equivalent. Which engine will have the better physics performance? Pa...

Can we get another part to this video? Godot 4 now has Rapier and Jolt available for it -- both of these should be significantly better than GodotPhysics and Bullet. Jolt has a fantastic multithreaded islanding system that really shines -- if you spawned cubes in two different places, each pile would run on separate threads (at least, that's my understanding of it). I've seen 4x rigidbodies on Jolt without much issue. Godot starts to die after a set number of nodes no matter what, though, but there's at least one scenetree fix coming soon (pr 94748) that eliminates at least one source of slow down... hopefully we get to see more performant code from the Godot project but they want an easy to develop engine, not the fastest on Earth... and honestly that should be the goal of any engine -- as fast as it can go, no matter the strife to get it there. Thanks for the videos and for making me sad that open source < proprietary almost always :(

Dear Mean Gene,We are writing to you regarding the ultrasonic directional sound speaker design you developed. We are two students studying electrical and electronic engineering in Turkey. We reviewed your design and decided to do this project for our graduation project. We have performed the STM-32 boot process and set up the circuit as shown below. However, we are struggling to understand how to power the TC-4427 integrated circuit and have not been able to obtain any sound output from the circuit. Could you please provide us with detailed information on this matter? Additionally, could you share more information with us about the design of the circuit on the breadboard?

This is why I made my own physics engine, and it beats both of those by a mile (pile of 10K circles on a single thread @ 60 Hz with ~45 FPS), and I am still using a brute-force broadphase, albeit very well optimized. I also partition the world into 256m squares so float precision won’t be a problem at huge distances, which is nice having.

Very cool project, this is _exactly_ what you need if you want to communicate with any stupid modern pirates on the seven seas… Even at a distance of several nautical miles, they cannot claim that they did _not_ understand what you have told them ;-) I admit that the technical equipment is somewhat more sophisticated, but it clearly shows that there are real-life use cases for this technology…

WARNING PLEASE READ! These things can damage hearing and cause tinnitus. I sadly figured this out the hard way. I made one of these (6 transmitters, 12V) for an art project. While getting information on how to make one I read that ultrasonic frequencies can cause hearing damage. I got mine to work but it felt like it worsened my tinnitus (I already had it lightly). I thought this was some sort of placebo. Because focusing on the tinnitus you already have can worsen it, so I speculated the thought these things could do hearing damage made my tinnitus worse not the actual thing (stupid me). The next day I powered it up again and I noticed that the ring that damped overnight directly came back. I did tons of research about ultrasonic frequencies and hearing damage and found some info on it causing tinnitus but not a lot. The research on ultrasonic sound doing hearing damage is limited and the worst thing is; that these speakers are in production by some companies. I mailed one of the companies and asked: "I read that these use ultrasonic frequencies and that these can cause hearing damage, is this true?". The response was: "In over 20 years on the market, there has not been a single report of adverse reaction to the ultrasound used by Audio Spotlight technology, nor is there any documentation in the literature about harmful effects from exposure to this type of ultrasound. To be absolutely safe and certain, ********** commissioned a full study overseen by the Center for Risk Analysis at the Harvard University School of Public Health before ever releasing our product to the marketplace. The summary confirmed that the risks of use are no greater than any other loudspeaker" In short, they told me they were safe. I tested it and they are not. It could be because I already had tinnitus but even if that is the case. Stay away from these things they still do damage. It is sad how they say it's safe to use. It could be because they are making money off of it or because it is hard to prove. But please let me be the evidence. Tinnitus is no joke. -Ultrasonic waves are not researched enough to play with (sadly)- My explanation (I am not a professional): The volume we hear these speakers at is way softer than the actual decibels. The frequencies outside our hearing range are extremely loud while the audible sound is not. The loudness of these high frequencies is hard to measure. That is why the internet could not give me a concrete answer about this subject. It simply hasn't been tested well enough. Just like a laser, you can shine it in your eyes and without it hurting it can damage them. Same with this. Someone else described it as: Your eardrums can vibrate perfectly fine at normal frequencies but at ultrasonic levels, you are vibrating them too fast. Just as your arms can go up and down perfectly fine. But when you put them in a machine that shakes them up and down real fast, they will withstand for a while but eventually damage because arms simply aren't made to move that fast. (The machine is the ultrasonic waves shaking your eardrums too fast) Please don't make one of these.
