I can still play my solos.
Where were these skides shown at? Where is this room? What group?
Enjoyed. Thank you.
My mom was a teenager in 1937.
Great film, love old time home movies. Music a great touch!
I wrote an email to VW, back then, asking what song was used for the commercial. They sent me the CD. 👍🏼 Kudos VW!
Hey brother. My grandfather was born in Hellertown, in 1932. Werkheiser. How can I contact you. All of this brings back the most memories for him and we have a lot too

This is the description I placed with this clip: "This isn't meant to be anything other than to demonstrate how this device is performing for me. I have no counterpoise other than the feedline) and this is located about 20' up in the air (on a pulley)." Hope that explains my "silence"!
@@bonzodemox Another person agrees with me.
Great Video and I love the music!
What is your wire length?
60’
TRULY Wonderful. Thanks!
Wow this is so cool.
Mr. Clark was my wife's grandfather, he was the highest ranking officer when he returned to Hellertown after WW1 ( I think he was a Captain in the U.S. Army) and he was elected to be the first commander of the VFW in Hellertown. He died in 1943.
Wow! George Gershwin would be so proud! Thank you for sharing!
Well done maestro!!!!
I did not know that it was 1998 that this car ad aired on Television originally. I saw it for the first time while watching the FOX TV gameshow Greed, which aired in 1999 and was pre maturely cancelled.
Thank you for posting this, whoever you are. I'm doing some research on the subject as my 2nd great-grandfather who was an immigrant from Italy, was killed by a trolley car in the Lehigh Valley. He had fallen in the snow and was run over. I find it very interesting. I'm in my late 30's and whenever I tell people my age that story, they are more shocked that we had trolleys 😂
Very cool, nostalgic. Grew up in lower Saucon township and graduated in 1976 from Saucon Valley. The high school in the film was my junior h.s. 7th to 9th grade. Would be interesting to see the present day footage for comparison. John Ringhoffer
Hi Dan and Anthony, Dan the black people you are thinking about is the Stokes family. They lived out in the country I believe in Williams Township. there were three children that all went to Saucon Valley in the early seventies. Sharon was the oldest and was always smiling and cracking jokes, unfortunately she died at an early age of Sickel Cell I think in her thirties. In the middle was David two years younger. He like me were a little wild in our days and were very good friends until we drifted apart in the mid-seventies. I heard he moved to Houston where he became a Pastor. Again unfortunately he died of leukemia in his forties. The third was Brenda, she was the youngest by a few more years and I really don't know what happened to her. The father didn't really say much but the mother was one of the nicest women I ever had the pleasure to know. The sixties and seventies were a great time to grow up in.
Wasn’t he arrested
Yes, for preforming a private act in what appears he thought was a secluded area. Yes, he is a sinful human being, just like the rest of us but I won’t let that one event tarnish my memories of his talents, accomplishments and extremely dedicated service to our congregation during his tenure at our church.
WHERE ARE THE BLACK PEOPLE ⚫ AT IN THIS!!!! I SEE JUST WHITE PEOPLE DO THEY EXIST???
Anthony, our high school class (1969) of about 205 had only 1 black girl in it. I can only imagine - even back then - that Hellertown never had many black residents. Her family lived out in the country where I grew up, but she took a different bus to school; I never knew much about her but I have attempted many times to locate her for our class reunions…without success. I’m sure she had some friends in school, but, unfortunately, I wasn’t one of them.
The song is Master Cylinder Jung at Heart
Chris, did you overlook my title on this UA-cam clip?
hey Dan, me again. Correction I meant Penn Street and Northampton. not Durham Street I always get those two mixed up.
Hey Dan, I think I finally got it with the help of your clue. Is it the intersection of Northampton and Durham streets looking toward Water Street then Easton Road in the distance? It also looks like the silver creek is kind of high. I remember walking that creek many times about sixty years ago. That must be the entrance to Carsons hardware Store on the left. If I'm wrong I give up, where is it? Also, I enjoy your work very much......thanks for the memories.
Jimmy, you got it right. "Entrance to Carsons hardware"...hee hee, at that time it was probably Miller's Hardware. That one tall building on the right of the portion of this clip we're examining was a key "visual landmark" for me at I think that building is still there, no? Since I grew up in Lower Saucon, I'm not one to depend on when quoting street names, LOL! And finally, during the public showings I made (at 2 historical societies and the H'town library) when this was originally released, I had an elder Hellertown citizen inform me that I had the names of the folks at that corner grocery store (Main and High Sts.) incorrect/mixed up. I took some sloppy notes meaning to make this correction, but I lost the piece of scrap paper I wrote it on...DRAT! Also, I've had 2 positive identifications of previously unknown people who appeared for whom I had QUESTION MARKS under their appearance. Thanks for your comments! Wonder if we know each other. I graduated HLSHS in 1969.
i lived in hellertown my whole life but i can't figure out where 13:48 is at.does anyone know where that intersection is at?
I'll give you a hint; the road at the end of this street is Easton Rd. As you come south on Easton Rd (but BEFORE you reach Main St.) what road INTERSECTS with Easton Rd. AT AN ANGLE? Please comment back that this hint DID or DID NOT help you! By rights, this particular footage of MAIN STREET MEMORIES should NOT have been included here because it has nothing to do with Main St.
Also, please tell me how you go about making a "time mark link" (like you did for "13:48") so that you can just click on it and it will take you right to that spot in this movie! Nice! Thanks, Danny
Oh, nevermind!!!!! I see that JUST BY TYPING the time (like I just did and like YOU did), UA-cam automatically constructs this "accurate link"! AMAZING!!! You learn something NEW every day!
I had a CD with the different versions of the song on it. I loved it. I think it was a CD that came in the glove box along with the owner's manual
For real? Must be a collectors item at this point.
@@justwatchingffs371 gotta love old EBay. I still have it.
As a foot note, Clarence Clark who was shown early in the film clip was the fist Commander of the VFW . He was my wifes' (Paula Weaver Martinko) grandfather. He died in 1943 of a heart attack.
I had a VW iPad 10gb back in the day that came preloaded with all the commercial songs from the time. Such a great song
Quick, name the two actors in this commercial.
Sarah Clarke (“24,” “Bosch,”) but I don’t know who the dude is… one quick shot of his face made me think it was Jason Segel, but now I’m not sure.
This was absolutely wonderful! I portions of my life growing up in Hellertown, my 2 children did grow up in Hellertown. This brought back very fond and warm memories for myself. It would be wonderful to see the older versions of the buildings and surroundings along with their modern counterparts. I know some roads have changed, I've been away form the area for over 10 years now, but I'll always come home to there.
Its horrible luckily I lived on the hellertown Bethlehem border but you walk on Easton Rd. Bunch of racist Catholics with Trump flags smh wishing it was still this way smh things are changing though because these memories suck lol ..they have banners on Easton Rd. With whatever war heros never heard of all Caucasians not one black or Latino picture it's disturbing honestly
Thanks for doing this.
Is this Rory Trumbore...my HLSHS classmate?
My name is Jason pichel I can't believe I found this I was actually looking up we're trying to look up creepy stories from Hellertown. This is my grandfather's tractors he was my biggest fan I love him more than anything in the world. Ramon Pichel is most definitely who I strive to be like on a daily basis.
I remember the old Hamster. I know you still have it from your video but are you still using for communication across the world collecting?
18 views impressive.
Footage? There is actual film in the camera?
I thought silent films ended in the 20s. Are you this quiet with Ann?
So it isn't my UA-cam app on my phone! It sometimes gets confused and mutes videos. It also sometimes gets so confused that it shows the pause button while paused and play while playing until clicked a couple of times.

@@bonzodemox I would kill you to say a few words instead of making people dig out a description? A 3-minute video has a lot more going on in it that your so-called description provides.
I like how much time you spent narrating and showing it modulates.
Hi Burt2481, well, considering that it’s hard to find a TESTED radio on eBay (that demonstrates it’s abilities) this whole clip was a convenient afterthought meant to supplement the sale. When I took these recordings, I wasn’t considering it’s sale - I was just documenting what I did - like I do with most all of my undertakings. Better than showing nothing, huh? Stay safe Burt!

This is how I remember Wilchderdon Farm looking like in 70s before the barn was torn down.
Never knew this existed... PRICELESS. Having wanted to be an architectural historian I am awestruck at these images. The detail, simplicity and wide open spaces of the property (unobstructed by woods today) of what would have been, then, an approx. 80 yr old farm. 😍❤
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful vintage footage! Made all the memories and stories of my grandparents and parents come alive! What a treasure!
Absolutely positively grand. Wow! Certainly took me back in time. Thank you thank you thank you.
The funny thing is that i drive by each place 10 times a day ;-; and i live far away from main st lol i live in the woods areas
Hello! I think you are my dancing teachers son. We grew up with you guys. My Dad Dave, is in Hellertown and always loved you!
Hi, Miss Mem (whoever you are). Hmmm, Dave...can't place this unless I have more context, but thanks for commenting. I'm on Facebook, if that helps!

Miss Mem Ahh, OK! Yes, I’ve seen your Dad out at the Lutz-Franklin schoolhouse when he’d come out to visit - but that was more than 6 years ago probably. Are you on FB?
Impossible to know all of them. And you have to add analog processors and effects. Delays, reverbs, etc... I think there is a rhythm machine and real drums together. The bass has compressors etc...the keyboards and synths are more than appears on those videos. In this piece we see Rhides below but I can not recognized which is over it... Someone that reads this please help... Thanks.
