I hope to be able to capture some of the daily task and chores and pretty much the day to day things that happen on a homestead and farming, while creating videos I hope you the veiwers will be able to connect to our homestead and possibly learn something or gain some insight on how things operate and learn new things or come up with great ideas for your homestead. The MAIN thing that I would like the channel to provide to you, and the viewers is to give you the confidence to go start your own homestead or farm. So feel free to hit the SUBSCRIPTION BUTTON, leave comments and lets take this journey together.

Where is the oil plug or plugs ?
@KTrouty21 which plug are you looking for?
Do you have parts list?
I can get you one
$3.29 for ethanol free. A little expensive there president $&@! head! It’s almost $6/gallon today here in southern AZ. Crazy how bad just gets to worse. Thanks for the video. It’s exactly what I’m gathering info on to do myself.
It’s right at $4/gallon here in arkansas.
You are the best looking farmer ❤Looks great. I can’t wait to see it!!
Who is paying you to say that?
What kind of oil did you use I need to do this soon thanks
Since my tractor is still under warranty I went with all New Holland oils and gear oils
Yay 🎉
Pigs are awesome
These are Disc ploughs mainly used in Australia. John Shearer brand in Australia had massive 30 plus discs. Mine I have a 5 disc Australian Napier. They really have not taken off in N.Z here as mould boards are preferred. ua-cam.com/video/RU-bMGt5f-Q/v-deo.htmlsi=CqJsqaAKyJZE78G0
I would have to say that mold boards are probably most farmers choice here in the United States also
@@jathomestead Nothing beats the beautiful flow of soil. I think in South America disc plowing is for deep soils.
@@conmanumber1 I’m going to put it to use in a couple of weeks. I’m going try to video it. First time plowing for me, so we shall see how I do.
Thanks for the help changing oil on my buddies tractor couldn't find the dipstick. such a small think but so important. thanks again.
@ri486jp, glad I could help out
That's very accurate. My mother's house pigs are good driven. If they hear a wrapper they are up in our business.
Same here. But they are a lot fun to have on the farm. Such curious animals
Pigs and hogs
Oh yeah!
Totally though he was gonna get hassled by police. Much more wholesome
@slyfrailzz, I would rather be hassled by pigs than cops
No oil change?
@carlin7322, oil change at the first 50 hrs
How often you change the oil every 50h?
@davidmuniz61 every 300hrs
Happy trees !!!
@dondouglas1321, I think we lost every tree we planted, we went through a bad drought
Thank you for this video. I am a first time Workmaster 35 owner and I needed to see this !! Thank you for this info. God bless ya.
@dondouglas1321, I really enjoy my work master.
Good deal. You had the patience to look for it. Patience has it rewards, even if ir seems like it takes forever to accomplish. God bless ya.
@dondouglas, I’m not going to lie, it was getting frustrating looking for it.
A good looking fence. I like it.
@dondouglas1321, thank you sir
Great video 👍 u covered all the information I needs 😊, thanks again guys
Needed 🤦🏼♂️ dang spellchecker
Glad you found the video useful
Hey what about the front axle oil, did you change that too?
@SNeal5966, no I just added to yet
You used 1.5qts of 10w-40, 2.5qts of ATF, how much gear oil did you use for front and rear differential?
When it starts running out the full hole, it’s full. So I can’t really tell you how much I used
thank you- helpful:) I'm a female on my own having to learn to do this all myself. I appreciate the help!
Glad I could be some assistance
That was a cool video. 👍
Thanks
I just bought an old mule, hopefully most of the drain spots are in the same location. Thanks.
@imaslowlerner, what year did you purchase, and let me know what you find out
@@jathomestead : have no idea 💡 of the year. Bought most of the tune up parts, now after watching your video I'm going to get the trans and diff oil. Thanks.
Is anyone having an issue with the mule turning over and over on a cold start? It will start , but after about 10 seconds and it’s rough at first until the fuel starts to flow. I’m a little confused by this cause it’s fuel injected , I do wait till the pump shots off before I turn the key. I put some injector cleaner in yesterday, I’m thinking I might have some bad fuel in the tank. I have 200 hours on it now, it’s. 2022.
@17forever64, I haven’t heard of any fuel injection issues. Mine is not fuel injected, and my mule starts normal during cold temps. It very well good be some bad fuel.
@@jathomestead I agree, I’m gonna go get some non ethanol fuel today and fill it up! We run it a good bit, that’s why I didn’t even think twice about using fuel with ethanol, but we have boat fuel here, so I’ll use that!
@17forever64, ethanol free is all I run in my small engines
@@jathomestead I will from now on!
@@jathomestead fuel injector cleaner seems to have solved the issue , starting up smooth again
Very helpful, thanks a lot
Glad it was helpful!
Love it
The kids loved it, me, not so much.
Real helpful advice, watch the mexican guy's put one these things up. Wink
How long was this line?
@Buck Ratchford, it was some where around a 300ft pull
Thank you The I ripped my pants part was hilarious lol.
It’s a good measurement on how hard your working when you rip the crotch out of your pant
Hey my man. New subscriber!!. To be honest I clicked on your video because I just purchased a 2023 Mule. But I subscribed because of little Thomas. I have a little man named Mason and he and Thomas must be doppelgangers. I watched this video and said 'How in the world did Mason get in this video". Ha ha ha! Anyways, I hope yall have a great one and tell Thomas we said hey!! Great video by the way.
@Land Of Medz, hey thinks for subscribing! I’m sure Mason is just as wild as Thomas
When you get a sec. Scroll to some of my earlier vids and you will see what I mean.
Just watched your woodchuck video, very funny by the way. Yep our boys could pass as each other. Crazy how much they look like each other
Thanks a lot, that helps me decide what to do. Good video. (from Australia) T
@Trevor, thanks. Hope you enjoyed the video and gave you some insight
Nice progress!
Thanks, it sure is a process, especially when you are trying to do most of the work yourself
looks good .
Thank you.
great job..
Thank you
Wish you had shown in detail How to start the roof . & Proceeding on with the panels
@ D LMalley. You have to start the first roof panel dead center on the ridge. Every panel after that slides underneath each other.
COOL DEAL CHEERS
Thanks
The latch in the center of the bed holds the bed up. Pull down and latch on the round frame bar.
@KawaDSrider, thanks a ton for that info. Just hoped out of my recliner to go check it, sure enough, there’s a latch under there and works just like you said. That will come in handy. Thanks again
@@jathomestead, glad It was a helpful good video.
What is that device you used to stretch the fence? Where can I get one?
@Fitz Jones, it’s just a 2x4 with a with a piece of metal, they bolt together to clamp the wire so you can stretch it. You find at almost any farm store. You can make one out of two 2x4’s and bolts.
Here’s a link to one. www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/american-farmworks-woven-wire-fence-stretcher?store=1330&cid=Shopping-Google-Local_Feed&Google&Shopping&Local_Feed&gbraid=0AAAAAD3fmFPiMIMjVg4VKCOSpfrBYlOHU&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8PrhupXj-QIVlhXUAR0YiwlQEAQYAiABEgISBPD_BwE
Thanks for the video! Did you end up using new holland hydraulic oil or did you use what you had on hand?
@Matt Hild, I used all New holland fluids for the reason the tractor is still under warranty. Now when the warranty runs out I’m pretty sure I will go to a generic brand of fluids
@@jathomestead thanks for getting back to me! I am about to do the same service to my tractor and forgot to get more hydraulic fluid from the dealer. I was curious if standard hydraulic fluid would work as I have some on hand.
Video...one big waste of time,IF you know how to plow...it'll work just fine
I have never plowed before, so I will be learning on the go. Thanks for watching
@@jathomestead disc plows are a little different than bottom plows, you have to set them up a little differently, but you'll get it
@Jimmy Dykes, just take it easy on me when you see me plowing.
@@jathomestead find you some good loose garden dirt to practice on before you jump on sod...good luck
Ed
Ed?
Tire is backwards. Bar type traction tires go that way when they're drive or pulling tires, the other way when they're driven or pulled. It'll keep mud from collecting on it. Sweet plow. You can make scrapers for it if need be. Ground gets a little moist in the fall, go to town. Best regards from Indiana.
Thanks Bill, I have been wondering if the tire treads was going the right direction. Easy fix, I will take care of that when I start plowing.
You're quite welcome. In case you ever wondered why they were backwards on an old ground drive manure spreader or the rear wheels on a two wheel drive combine, etc. Not trying to be a know it all. Just passing on knowledge. I'll be expecting a good long video when you put it to work.
I will take all the advise I can get, as long as it’s good and reliable. I’m looking for a disc harrow now, something cheap I can work on if needed, I have my grandpas two row cultivator also, that will need a little cleaned up also. Thanks for subscribing.
I didn't criticize anything genius, I merely stated fact. Indeed that is how lug type traction tires work. I was just sharing what I know. Knowledge is power, you should get some.
I doubt you can find a better turning plow than what you have ! Good luck and enjoy the old iron !
I’m looking forward to using something that my grandpa and dad used to use.
Those plows don't like hard ground. They will just roll across the top. I have seen people cut notches in the disc like a harrow disc. You probably don't want to do that being it was your grandfathers. Then again it might do fine. One way to find out...
We are going to give it a try. Trying to get out cheap. If it don’t work out, I will try to find a cheap bottom plow somewhere. But my dad used it as a kid, plowed 20 acres for feed corn for their hog operation. So hopefully it will work out just fine.
We always avoided debt like the plague. We often found if we saved up to purchase a item. by the time we got them money saved. Decided we didnt want that item any longer. When you debt free you no longer pay interest. Also you dont have to pay for insurance that protects the lender.
You are very correct. We avoided like the plaque also. If people could learn to put off self gratification until they could afford it. They would be a lot better off and less stressful
Just Subscribed. We have one of those . There is supposed to be a couple of scrapers that keep the soil from building up on the disk.
This disc had them also. They are no where to be found. We will see how it does without the scrapers, if needed I will try to track some down.
We had one too, but got better results with an equivalent mouldboard (even more old school). We had pretty heavy going though, old overgrown and heavy soil.
I know a lot of people prefer moldboard over a disc plow. My disc was free, so going to give it a try and see how it does. Thanks for watching
Why not use the same for the front as back
@Chevy Driver, that’s what the spec’s in the manual called for.
@@jathomestead huh. No They’re both gl5
@Chevy Driver, you are correct, the tranny and front diff calls for gl5. The AMSOIL severe gear in my opinion is a better oil for diff’s which is fine for replacing gl5
@@jathomestead ok had me worried lol
@@jathomestead i put 75w90 in both rear and front
How often do you do all these changes? 50,100,200,hours etc…
@Jig Man, I may only do mine every two years. I guess it all depends on how much you are using your wheeler
What you guys are doing up is beautiful!
@cynthia Appledorn, thank you
I was only able to buy 4inch diameter treated posts and do you think I could still make an h brace fence? I could not find any 6 inch diameter posts in my area. I’m thinking it would be okay. I’m running it on a 172 x 127 feet field. Won’t be holding any livestock in it. Will primarily use it to keep them out.
No bueno, I believe it will be just fine with the 4 inch post.
Why not use tractor to pull the fence tight!
@JimmyStevens. You can see it in the video, but that come-along is hooked to a tractor. I use the tractor to stretch it tight than I get it a little tighter with the cone-along.
I mean can’t see it
More control with the come along less chance for stuff to break
Thanks for the video! I have a 2018 workmaster 35 with 101 hours now. At 93 hours the fuel tank cracked at the rear right seam, unsure how that happened but the dealer had it replaced within 72 hours. I purchased it in 2021 and it had been sitting on the lot for quite awhile, the tank may have been sun baked; really hoping nothing like that happens again. Otherwise I really love this tractor and have used the loader to move 15 dump truck loads of dirt across my property and it handled the abuse well aside from the above issue I guess.
I really enjoy mine. About to get some fluid in the rear tires to add some weight to the rear end for heavier loads
@@jathomestead I added fluid to the rear tires within the first 10 hours, it was really sketchy without that honestly. The loader easily lifted the rear wheels long before I expected it would. I ordered the full service manual off ebay just in case for any future repairs etc.
