I would let them know there are limited amounts of bathrooms breaks for the day. I have also used First and Then with clients if they provide me with and activity or location change prior to completing the target task.

And please don't call them tantrums . For ASD. they are meltdowns.. which usually lasts minutes to a few hours.. Autistic burnouts are long lasting and last days to weeks.. just needed to clarify it.. meltdowns don't have to have a reason as it comes from sensory overload and masking.. tantrums always have a reason as to why they're having a tantrum.. like taking a toy away from them or an adult who doesn't get his own way.

I don't have problems with eye contact and don't have light or sound sensitivities.. the eye thing.. my eyes flutter quickly for up to 10 straight seconds when I'm passionately explaining something.. like a story or something where I'm thinking of exactly what I want to say and to say it with such elaboration like I am doing right now lol..

ADHD masks ASD.. I was diagnosed ADHD at age 8 and I have like 5 social disabilities.. 50 repetitive & restrictive behaviors 😆 I grew up having a trauma to pharmaceuticals for 3 reasons: allergic reaction to aspirin at age 7.. and my Mom taking me off Ritalin just 2 months after being diagnosed with ADHD all because the doctor said back in 1984 that Ritalin may stunt your growth.. tall people are apparently important to my mom 🤔and the 3rd reason being the stories my father told me that his 1st wife overdosed on mixed pharmaceuticals so I never took a pill since.. and now I'm 46 years old and I just discovered I am full blown Autistic about 7 months ago.. still blown away.. I can't describe how mentally draining it is to have both ADHD and ASD.. I have developed major RSD SAD and one thing I've noticed.. my father died in May 2019.. 83 years old 🙏 after that treacherous day.. my meltdowns have tripled over the next few months.. then Covid Lockdown March 2020 they began to quintiple.. and up to now.. I have meltdowns once or twice a week.. 2022 was interesting is all I can say. Everything just went wrong in ALL departments of life.. relationships.. car broke down.. lost job.. boss still owes me and 3 other workers 6 weeks pay each.. labour board involved.. you name it.. but anyway back to my thing about one thing I noticed on top of the accumulation of meltdowns. Waking up after 3-5 hours sleep.. waking up during REM.. Increases a meltdown almost 100 fold . Usually when I wake up between 3 and 5 hours sleep.. it's because I have to get up and do something or else I just chill.. but when I'm put in a rush.. my meltdown happens and I just can't explain it..I see what's happening but as soon as something goes wrong its like a self sabotage everything and I want things to be worse and I can't quite consciously pull myself away.. I just babble and complain and insult me and everyone around me.. lasts 5 or 6 minutes and then I snap back to reality and my spouse is understanding usually.. but now that we know I'm autistic we worked on some tricks so yeh.. if you're Autistic and ADHD.. it's either you get NO SLEEP and pull an all nighter or sleep 6 or more hours.. and it's only when you're rushed after being woken up during REM. My rant is over.. tangent.. ramble.. babble.. whatever they call it lol.. hope you enjoyed my story.. I'll be making videos one day.. just got stage fright you know.. perfectionism and all that lol.. ciao for now.! --- Dave
