Welcome to my channel, where I am sharing all my railway videos.
I have a lifelong interest in anything railway related, especially locos from the Vulcan Foundry, such as class 20, 37, 40, 50, 55 and 86, plus of course the steam locos. I travel regularly around the North West of England, North Wales and sometimes other parts of the United Kingdom filming trains.
"Half an Hour at" is a series of videos where I spend 30 minutes at locations recording today's modern British railways. There are now over 400 videos in this playlist.
"Exploring....." is a new series looking at abandoned former station sites.
"From The Archives....." featuring some of my oldest footage put into compilation videos.

Exploring Wilmington Station Site, Wilmington Swing Bridge and Sculcoates Station Site in Hull
I got to travel through there in the early1960s. Travelled up from Barmouth Jnc. to change at Bala Jnc. and ride the shuttle service into Bala.
My grandad, Alfred Evans, was signalman/porter here during for much of his working life - incl WW2. He now lies in the churchyard next door.
Really nice to see one preserved in this manner 🙂
Great video.
Thanks
This is only 5-10 min walk away from me as I am in Pentre Broughton and this stretch of line the lower line use to link the Brymbo steel works line past where you were filming at the station platform it goes across the embankment by the lake in the valley accross to the Gwersyllt side passing through Highfield and Pendine along Griffiths Road and there use to be a bridge over the Mold Road just on the edge of Gwersyllt and joined the main line in Gwersyllt at Brymbo Junction witch is the Wrexham to Bidstone/Liverpool line. The other end of this line at New Broughton where the line joined the Brymbo steel works line was a big loop that joined the line from Croes Newydd ( by Morrisons ) to Brymbo and the steel works and after the steel works the line carried on as a single line around the back of Brymbo passing Pen Rhos and Pentre Saeson towards Geggin and on to Minera lime works and lead works. Great video Thanks
Thanks very much for the info. I want to have a look at some of these other lines around Wrexham in the future
Yes it was a great day ...and next year is the centenary..
Definitely. Hope to go again next year
Great video!
Thanks Madeline
I know Cefn-y-bedd station, Gwersyllt is my home station
I do remember the old station building at the exchange
Demolished in the 1990s I think
The only time I have used that platform was 28th April.2008. That was the day that the Wrexham and Shropshire Railway launched. At the time I worked in Wolverhampton, my normal commute home to Rhyl was via Crewe, but on this special occasion I caught the W&SRly to Wrexham, then the Borderlands line to Shotton and changed there for the coast line. Because of the excessive time this journey took, regretfully I never repeated it.
Thanks Graham. Such a shame that W&S didn't survive. Hopefully the new planned service will come to fruition
I live in rhyl but keep missing these trains. Where do you get your info about when they are coming through ?. Cheers
I use Real Time Trains shows all the timetabled services and has live tracking
Great video.
Thanks
I'm intrigued by the LNER's presence. Apparently it was a consequence of The Great Central Railway being grouped into LNER in 1923.
A bit of an outpost I think for their normal area
Brilliant info. Keep it up. I remembered getting off the exchange or general in the 80s (unless I'm wrong ).
Thanks very much. Yes that's correct Exchange closed in 1981 and platform 4 was absorbed into General.
Very interesting mate, i was looking at that disused platform and didn't realise it was a separate station .
Thanks Rob. I only recently found this out about Exchange Station always assumed it was all part of Wrexham General
Great video
Thanks Madeline
Nice to see the Scottish HST Sets 👍
Thanks Arthur, lucky case of right time right place to catch so many
Great video
Thanks
😊 I had a surprise glimpse at Flint 😮
Looked really good going past
Great video.
Thanks
Well done to the Scots for reopening old rail lines ...It's a pity England can't do the same
Definitely be good to see more lines reopened
Wow, how do you know when that Penmaenmawr stone train will be passing to get all these shots? I'd love to watch it roll by.
Real Time Trains website. There are a number trains showing each day so you do need to check on a daily basis to see which are activated
@@RWHTrains Oh that's an awesome resource, I should have known about that! you can tell i'm new at this eh:D Thanks dude.
@yyams no problem. It's a really good and useful site
I never saw Manchester central it would be so Nice if they could turn that back into a railway station
Agree would take some of the pressure off Piccadilly and Victoria
Great video!
Thanks Madeline
That’s the reason I have never been back train spotting there, I’m upset with that person who redesigned it
Good one Rob
Thanks very much
nice vid pal . i live not far away .. a small village called treflach
Thanks very much, nice part of the World
In the 1940s that station was rebuilt . Why on earth fid they knock it down in 1980, There was no point rebuilding it in the 1940s. If it was me I would have kept that station snd the original roof, I would never have knocked it down or Manchester Victoria, I have never been back to Manchester Victoria, since 1996 . after what they did to my old favourite station it really hurts me that they ruined a old lovely Victoria station .
Victoria definitely is not the same now since they redesigned it
fascinating --very well done- thank you
Thanks 👍
Great video.
Thanks Madeline
😊 👍
Thanks David
you was in the town i live in! :O
Great video and even a few disused sections of platform that once formed Wrexham Exchange before it was boxed together to make General.
Thanks Tom. Yes makes a strange layout at Wrexham General. I got a little bit more footage of the abandoned bits, hoping to edit a video together of Wrexham Exchange
Great video and even a few disused sections of platform that once formed Wrexham Exchange before it was boxed together to make General.
Golborne station was not on the A49. Ashton-in-Makerfield station was on the A49.
That's correct. Mad moment while editing the video I think.
Great video!
Thanks Madeline
Wynnstay group have been in the village for over 100 years, so the mill was there when the railway ran through the village. It’s of course expended a fair bit since the 60’s though. The station restaurant & bar closed a year or so ago sadly. A shame it’s being turned into offices.
Many thanks for the info
😊 Top video. Wynnstay Farmers Headquarters and Feed Mill.
Thanks very much and for confirming the info regarding Wynnstay
Great video.
Thanks Madeline
