Winter Magic on Mt. Tecumseh, Waterville Valley NH. A winter 4K
At an elevation of 3,997 feet, Mt Tecumseh is the lowest of all the NH 4000 footers. It was previously listed at 4,003 feet but in 2019 a new survey was conducted using LiDAR technology which is considered to be the most accurate method of determining elevation. It was then that the true elevation of 3,997 feet was established. Despite the controversy the mountain currently remains on the list of the NH 48.
On December 23, 2020 my friend Marianne and I climbed it in beautiful snowy conditions. It was a wonderful day of bluebird skies, little wind, beautiful snow covered trees and comfortable (relatively) temperatures all coming together to make for an enjoyable hike.
If you’re looking for a good mountain to start hiking winter 4K’s I highly recommend this peak. It has good parking and access at the Waterville Valley Ski Area, the grade is relatively easy, only a couple of very minor water crossings, it’s protected in the trees for the entire hike and has a pleasant view of the mountains to the north at the summit and a nice view of the Tripyramids from the edge of the ski slope that is adjacent to the trail.

Climbing Mt. Whiteface via Downes Brook Trail, Kate Sleeper Trail and Rollins Trail
Переглядів 2953 роки тому
On Septgember 16, 2020 I climbed Mount Whiteface (4020 ft) in the Sandwich Range of the White Mountains of NH via the Downes Brook trail, Kate Sleeper Trail & Rollins Trail for #46 of my 48 4K’s in NH. I chose the Downes Brook trail as an easier but longer approach in order to avoid the Blueberry Ledges as I was hiking alone and was unwilling to tackle them solo. Downes Brook is a beautiful tra...
Mt Roberts, A Hike In The Snow

This is my second video on Mt. Roberts, this one in the snow with friends Marianne and Gordon. As usual it did not dissapoint! Mt. Roberts is one of my favorite short hikes in NH. It’s closer to home than any of the 4k’s, it’s a relatively easy hike with pleasant footing for the most part and has magnificent views of Lake Winnipesauke from its many open ledges while ascending and descending. It...

You make excellent videos. I like them all. I'm a retired videographer for the government. I appreciate the detail you put in your videos. I'm almost 70 and been hiking for 3 years. Love it. I will do this hike this year. Keep up the good work. I'd make videos of my hikes, but I'm slow enough on the trail and stopping to set up recordings would slow me down even more.

@@joesweeney7216 joe, my husband and I are coming back to the Whites end of October. We're 59, former runners, but our knee meniscus surgeries stopped that activity years ago. We did Willard this past June. Would you recommend Pierce or Mooseilake(sp)? We're in good shape, but not superstars like these 25 yr olds running up and down the mountain. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you. Jane K.

I am planning to hike up unknown pond trail, 2.2 miles to the tent site, set up camp, then hit horn, bulge and Cabot. Spend the night at the tent site and hit Rogers Ledge in the morning for a sunrise. Is this what you guys did, minus the ledge? Do you happen to know if the ledge is good for a sunrise?
