Completely disagree with the example given in point 3. If my son constantly makes a noise at the dinner table, he gets a warning and if he keeps it up, he gets punished. There are lots of instances where praising kids is a great idea, but not being noisy at the dinner table is not one of them. Terrible example.
The example described recognising the achievement of good behaviour at the table, not praising poor behaviour
