I was a resident of the Phoenix Residential Societys Aquired Brain Injury Program at Pearl Manor for 2 and a half years. I was semi-catatonic for almost 3 years after brain surgery from a Heirditary brain malformation in 2004. I graduated from the ABI program in March of 2010. The doctors told my family in 2006 to put me in a group home as I would never be able to take care of myself again. I worked full time at Phoenix after graduating from the ABI program, as Administration support and a Peer Support worker for 11 years. I have found another career path and purchased my first house. Without guidance, assistance and support from all the Phoenix Staff especially from my first Keyworker, Shelia and Kendra all the Management staff, my Administrative co-workers, and the members of the Phoenix Residential Societys board members. I would not be not be living independantly and definitely not be able to wtite this.
