At the end, Richard the Lion hearted tries to recruit him. For those that need an introduction, it is Richard that is King during the equally nobel Robin Hood stories.
19年前的经典电影🎥!我重复看了12次。 现在,才被人发现。😊
The winner writes history
So do the losers. So do those just sitting on the sidelines.
DEAR LDS?Mormon brethren, this is more important than you STUPID GARMENT OATH!!!!! i would rather make this OATH than the Dumb ASS LDS Garment/UNDERWEAR OATh! God doesn't care about underwear!! he cares about action doing being a KNIGHT!!!
This and The 13th warrior is the best
Sweet pea: "raise a knight"
This theme music reminds me of the 13th Warrior.
I’m not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep. I’m afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion!
The Catholic Church ALONE has Claime. Deus Valt!!
There were instances of mass knighting ceremonies when the heavily outnumbered crusader units needed reinforcements and when the church needed to replenish their holy orders of crusader knights during perilous campaigns which the Vatican sanctified as a necessity to crusade in defense of Christendom.
Isn't this the 13th Warrior Theme?
He slapped only one prior to becoming a knight? He should've slapped everybody to make it fair.😅😊😂
a man speaking the truth, rare combo nowadays
Rise a Knight...good stuff...
Convert to Islam, repent later. Save your your bacon, baby!
A Knight is born cannot be nomjnated
That's lie. Who taught you this? Some liberal arts flunky professor? A man became a knight after faithful service to the crown and a show of loyalty and capability in service to his kingdom. Nobody was 'born into knighthood."
how was the first knight made then
Why have I not heard of this film?
This scene is quite offensive to Europeans who value their culture but so well done that you have to appreciate it
“Not what I was, neither are you”
How apropos to Palestine today: none have claim; all… have claim. But who will NOT SHARE? Who thinks they’re SO SPECIAL? Who? Creates 75-years of turmoil & hell?
And that! is how you get a knights loyalty. If Balian are willing to rule a kingdom, those men will always follow him til death cause they remembered who knighted them and gave them pride.
"Thats Sir Gravedigger to You.Priest".
One of the greatest moments in ALL OF FILM!!!
I've figured it out. I know how to stop the war. A 2 state solution doesn't work, because the Jews and the Muslims hate each other. So we need a 3 state solution. Give the northern half of Israel to a Christian state. Give the Jerusalem and Bethlehem. On the condition that both Muslims and Jews are welcome in Jerusalem. If the Jews attack the Muslims then the Christians will defend them. If the Muslims attack the Jews then the Christians will defend them. It's fucking obvious. That's how king Baldwin IV kept peace for so long.
Jerusalem was supposed to be a joint capital, or a free city under international council. But we all know what happened.
@@modest_spice6083 actually Jerusalem has never been jointly religiously controlled UNTIL Israel gave east Jerusalem to the west bank and even allowed the Muslims to ban them from the temple mount. Which is the Jews most holy site as it was where king David built his temple, until the Romans tore it down. History clearly shows this.
@@danielcharnock8975 Until Israel annexed the entire city in 1949, in clear violation of the United Nations mandate which sees the city as divided for both Israel and Palestine. History clearly shows this.
@@modest_spice6083 clearly you know nothing about international war or the history of the region. It's true they annexed some territory in the first Arab-Israeli war and then more in the 6 day war, but it wasn't against international law as Israel was fighting a defensive war that they didn't start. Making the annexation of said territory perfectly legal under international law. Look it up. Also you forget that Israel has not only returned territory taken from Egypt and Jordan, they also completely pulled out of Gaza (without asking for anything in return) they have also offered to return 99% of the land taken from "Palestine" if only they would sign a peace treaty. Which Palestine has refused to do every single time and instead choose to regroup and attack Israel again a few years later. They have literally started every single war they have ever had with Israel. You need to do some research both into history and into international law.
@@modest_spice6083 also east Jerusalem IS under control of the west bank and has been since 1982 when Israel returned it to the west bank despite legally annexing it after the 6 day war as I have previously stated.
Jerusalén estaba ya perdida lastimosamente antes del asedió...
THIS is true Manliness. Not some fragile, insecure, incel shite
What those men would do for such a leader as this...
Orlando always had 20 out of 20 vision.
We are about to repeat history !
Guy gets slapped: “I don’t know whether to feel mad or honored that I was the only one to get slapped.”
A True Knight's Vow is a true burden and honor.
God's will fuck off mate it's my will🇬🇪
Great movie
Me when forcing low prowess courtiers into knighthood in CK3. Some of them do increase their prowess through knightly events.
This scene hits hard if you understand the context behind what a knight was. It wasn't simply a more heavily armored soldier, Being a knight carried with it respect, and pride. Both of which are heavily needed for men under siege. If you can convince men to fight they will fight. Morale was key and for these men-at-arms and servants who were fighting because they had no choice gave them a level of comfort as they were not fighting and potentially dying as faceless nobodies, they were dying as knights, men worthy of respect and praise, and to men at that time, that was everything.
Yes and because the strong belief in god, the courage that god brought with the crusaders was absolutely crucial for their moral and hope. Moral and hope makes for a better warrior.
@@edvardkvist3656 Crusaders, contrary to popular believe had not been true knights, nor have they been holy warriors. A true knight fights with honor, he is selfless in face of danger, protecting the ones in need and fend the enemy away. The Arthur Prayer in Dragonheart is more in the spirit of a true knight, than any crusader was. The crusade armies constited mostly of beggars, thieves, criminals, poor folk, farmers or children that the nobility and church promised salvation if they fight "in the name of god" - they mostly had been tricked for just fighting back the arabs and saracen people. Most of them where rapers, killed innocent townsfolk, murdered caravans, desacrated holy temples or robbed the cities and people they were ment to protect. Only the armies of King Richartd the Lionheart or Frederic Barbarossa were trained men-at-arms or noble swordsmen. Many of them however didnt make it through the journey to the holy land. Richard got terribly ill (but was well respected for his rightfullness by Saladin) and Frederic drowned in a river - demoralizing his full army.
And those who survived would continue their lives as an honorable knights

"We take the bombardment".... that's a brutal reality for a soldier
Shell shock is one hell of a drug....
The Catholic church needs to return to the bestowing of knighthoods. Instead of being the unapproachable monolith of men in ivory towers it has become over the last 500 years. Doing this will put young men on a course to honor and integrity. It will give them a chance to lay claim in their faith and be a part of the church's image rather than simply standing outside and looking in.
Anyone realize the music for the oath scenes is the exact same music from The 13th Warrior?
Owr modern Solders, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. Are all owr modern Knights! 🇺🇸✊🏽👍🏽♥️
He’s awfully knowledgeable for a poor uneducated bastard blacksmith.
Underrated movie. One of his best roles ever. Humble man who did his best.
His friend was fighting for the French after Richard the lionheart was killed in Robin Hood.
Master Gravedigger's look makes that scene even more.
I love Sir Gravediggers expression. He is saying, "be quiet holy man, there is no place for you here." Since time out of mind lesser men would lower themselves before war Chiefs and that respected leader would tell the man he has his leaders full respect and trust. Usually that man would rise as more than what he was! And he will now fight all harder to earn and keep his chiefs high opinion of him. He will die before being anything less than what his commander knows him to be!!
Soundtrack at 05:12 ?
This man is a legend. Lord of the rings, kingdom of heaven, pirates of Carribbean....🎉
Don't forget prince of Troy!
Orlando Bloom is not a legend. He's just a guy that gets paid to pretend he's other people. A Caesar, Alexander, Gen Patton - those are legends.
Paladin with that 20 charisma right there.
havent seen this version before. the part where he talks with the gravedigger. the one that cut his wifes head off. tells how far he have come. sometimes the things that gets cut makes no sense. makes movies so much better.
This is from the directors cut that is almost an hour longer. If you've only scene the short version you NEED to check it out. There are massive storylines missing from the theatrical cut.
Making a knights was a ritual before every great medieval battle.
in the background is the theme from 13th warior
