    It was nice seeing a video from you. Y’all are so sweet together. 😊 I have an old pie safe with the hand punched tin on the top doors. You’ve made me want to paint it that pretty color (the wood part). Looks like you had a really nice birthday. I think y’all did a video showing Jonesborough downtown. Very old and quaint. How are your horses doing?

    We Live A Couple Of Miles Away From From Ridgewood. Back In The 70's My Mom And I Would Go For Lunch, Get A Front Table At The Window And Enjoy The Food And The Beautiful Pines. Now They Have Cut The Pines Down And The Food Is Not The Same. We Order Take-Out Sometimes And It's Always A Toss Up On The Food. Sometimes It's Good, Sometimes It's Not. I Used To Love Their BBQ Beans, Last Time I Ordered Them They Were Mostly Sauce And Not Many Beans. I Think Since Grace Passed Away The Quality Of Food Has Gone Down Hill. It's A Shame Because It's Not Cheap To Eat There.

    I've lived in this area for years, and always heard how great Ridgewood is. Finally made it there, and was so disappointed. The food was just kind of bland. Had pork sandwiches and fries. The bbq at Smokey Bones is so much better. They have a loaded baked potato and salad combo that is so good. The potato has the usual loaded potato stuff, topped off with pulled pork. So yummy!

    My goodness… the last month has been so heartbreaking here in WNC. Now to see your very difficult task of making the decision necessary with your horses. 😓 I’m so sorry. They have a beautiful place there and so glad it’s just down the road. Life seems to be so challenging these last 4 years, and I think we are all so tired from it all. Things we couldn’t do anything about in our country and events, economy etc. Then we all have our own personal stuff going on… it’s all so much. Reminded me to some tough decisions my husband and I had to make, so very difficult. Your videos always calm me and give me peace. Your soup looked very good. God bless you.

      My prayers have been for everyone in WNC and East TN. So heartbreaking! Are you OK in your area? It warms my heart to see people from all over to come help. I have friends serving with Samaritan's Purse. I wish I could serve with them but it's not the right season in my life. I do what I can, pray and donate. My trials seem so trivial compared to what these people are going through. I agree, the last 4 years have been challenging, things happening I never thought I'd see. But one day, and I believe it will be soon, all tears will be wiped from our eyes for those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I hope you've made that decision and I'll get to meet you in Heaven!

    Dear Lady Joanna and Mr Joe. Thank you for a video . I could feel your emotions for your dear horses to leave. 30 years of your life being able to just walk out of the house and see horses..is a change for you. Life is ever changing. Nothing stays the same. We get older and new challenges come with it. It is good you can just go to see them when you feel separation. I wish the strength for you to overcome this change fast. That bean soup looks fantastic, I can immagine lemon would really bring flavours in, I love white beans and yill try to make it. Yes, it has better be something good into new days, too much of struggle happening. Take care ! Regards Jana.

    Wonderful video! Thank you! How did you prepare your eggshell before you put it into your water kefir?

    • @MyAppyLife
      @MyAppyLife 6 місяців тому

      Thank you. I just washed the egg shell in dish soap, rinsed well and let it dry. The egg shell will turn dark in the water kefir. Through trying different mineral sources, my favorite now is using organic raisins and a dash of Himalayan salt. If my kefir stops getting fizzy, I'll switch the minerals to something different, like unsulfured molasses. I think it gets tired of the same thing all the time and just wants something different. Hope this helps.

      Linda, thank you for your sweet comment. When using fresh fruit, melon, mint leaves, or other ingredients for the 2nd ferment, it's best to crush them to release the juices. Just use a small handful for each quart jar and let the 2nd ferment set in a warm place with a tight lid on it for at least 24 hours. Hope this helps! I wish you much success with your water kefir!

    My water kefir is fizzy after my first ferment. I add about a 1/3 cup of 100% grape juice for the second ferment. It is never fizzy after the second ferment. Any suggestions?

    • @MyAppyLife
      @MyAppyLife 7 місяців тому

      Hi, Amy. I've been making water kefir for over a year. Mine started not getting fizzy and after doing a google search, I learned there are several reasons this happens: Make sure you're using air tight jars for the 2nd ferment; make sure the kefir is in a warm place; using brown cane sugar might help (has more mineral content); fruit juices seem to fizz more than fresh fruit; use a stronger starter. In my case, I moved my kefir to a warmer place and covered it with a heavy kitchen towel to keep it warm. I also keep my extra grains in the fridge in sugar water and occassionally swap out my grains with the ones stored in fridge. I also feed the first ferment with minerals like pink hymalaian salt and organic raisins. My kefir is fizzy again but not as fizzy as when I first started making it. It's still yummy, though. I'm completely off sodas now thanks to this drink! Wishing you success in your kefir making!

    Thank you for sharing the nighttime eggnog recipe. I have had trouble sleeping, and staying asleep, so I’m going to try it. Sounds wonderful! Your home is so beautiful! Inside and out… all thst pretty snow. The fire and kitty looked so cozy. You are so good to your horses. In the summer, so they go out to a pasture and do you or your grandchildren ride them? We had horses growing up and I loved it so much. Alllll of your meals looked so good! When it’s cold, it’s so comforting to eat good warm meals. I remmber when you stored your potatoes. So neat to store them thst way. I know you’re glad you have them.
