El “Night El 10 de abril de 1984, el cobarde asesinato de una niña de solo 9 años, fue registrado en un hotel del distrito de Tenderloin, San Francisco. El cadáver de la menor, fue hallado colgando de las cañerías del sótano. Había sido golpeada, violada y apuñalada hasta la muerte. Este monstruoso asesinato no fue adjudicado a Richard Ramírez sino hasta el año 2009 cuando, por medio de pruebas de ADN, se comprobó su autoría. Hasta entonces, nunca figuró como uno de los crímenes del “Night Stalker”. El 28 de junio de ese mismo año, otro brutal asesinato conmovió a la ciudadanía. Jennie Vincow, una anciana de 79 años de edad, fue apuñalada en su propia casa mientras dormía. La ferocidad del ataque llamó la atención de los forenses, pues el homicida había intentado decapitarla con un enorme cuchillo de cocina. Se descubrió que el intruso había robado un par de objetos de poco valor, por lo que el móvil del crimen quedó en entredicho. Pasaría casi un año antes de que el asesino volviera a las andadas. La noche del domingo 17 marzo de 1985, el oficial Gil Carrillo recibió una llamada mientras conducía su automóvil y se encontraba de servicio. A Carrillo se le informó que se trataba de un caso de asesinato y se presentó rápidamente en el lugar de los hechos. Dayle Okasaki, una mujer de 34 años, había sido asesinada en su propio hogar de un certero disparo en la cabeza. María Hernández, de 22 años, la amiga con la cual vivía, había sobrevivido al ataque y fue la que pudo narrar la historia a la policía, tras ser trasladada al hospital. Según la historia de Hernández, había sido sorprendida por un sujeto que se había colado en su casa mientras ella estacionaba su vehículo en la cochera, luego de volver de su trabajo. Por lo visto, el sospechoso la había seguido y antes de que se cerrara el portón automático, se coló ágilmente por debajo. Hernández solo notó su presencia cuando escuchó un pequeño ruido y se giró para ver de qué se trataba. El hombre, descrito como un sujeto joven, delgado, alto y completamente vestido de negro, la apuntó con un revólver y le disparó sin dudar; pero la bala dio en las llaves que la mujer llevaba en la mano, la cual había subido a la altura de la cara para protegerse. Hernández se tiró al suelo y simuló estar muerta. Okasaki había escuchado el disparo y se escondió, rápidamente, detrás del aparador de la cocina. Pero el intruso fue paciente y se quedó inmóvil entre las sombras. Posiblemente intuyó dónde estaba oculta la muchacha o escuchó su respiración, pues cuando ésta asomó la cabeza para verificar si el extraño se había ido, el asesino la estaba apuntado con el revólver y le disparó justo en medio de la frente, matándola en el acto. Posteriormente, el maleante se dio a la fuga. Los cartuchos de bala encontrados en la escena, pertenecían a un revólver calibre 22 y fueron recogidos para ser examinados. La policía no encontró ningún indicio que indicara que el móvil era el robo, por lo que descartó esta teoría de inmediato. Aquel ataque, había sido cometido de forma fría y sin un motivo aparenteStalker” (también conocido como “El Merodeador Nocturno” o “El Asesino Nocturno”), resultó ser un asesino psicópata único en su especie y digno de estudio.
