Hi, I'm Craig.
In Jan 2018, I decided to quit alcohol as my life was falling apart, and somewhere along my sober journey, I found running as a great tool to process emotions and also regain my confidence again.
I invite you to join me on this channel as I share my experiences in becoming an ultramarathoner while remaining sober from alcohol.
If you are a runner and/or sober I hope this channel will inspire you to push yourself to the next mile/day.
Please feel free to reach out to me through my website, minduncaged.com.

My Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim Run - Sober and Alive
This is my RIM2RIM2RIM story.
On April 23rd 2022, I ran down the South Kaibab Trail of the Grand Canyon and ran all the way up to the North Rim. I then returned down the North Rim and went up the Bright Angel Trail.
I trained for an entire year before attempting this.
I dedicated this run to those struggling with substance abuse and I also ran it as a fundraiser. Sobriety and running have significantly changed my life and I wanted to empower others that they too can overcome and thrive.

2022 Rocky Raccoon 50 Mile Ultra Marathon - Huntsville, TX
Переглядів 8 тис.2 роки тому
In May 2021, I decided I wanted to run the Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim at the Grand Canyon. In order to do that I would need a ton of training. I had never run more than a half marathon before. So I decided to use Tejas Trails running events as a way to keep up with my training and push my limits at a number of different trails in Texas. I trained throughout the entire year up until February 12th 2022. Thi...

From Alcohol Abuse to Marathon Trail Runner
Переглядів 4123 роки тому
4 years ago, I was checking into a detox facility for alcohol abuse. Today, Sept 10, 2021, I ran my first Trail Marathon! I wanted to share my experience on what it took me to train for the run. I share this in hopes of inspiring at least 1 person to get help for their addiction. Addiction is hard but it is not the END!. Let this be proof that it is possible to overcome addiction, thrive, and d...
I enjoyed it. I’m doing 50k
Hey Craig keep up the good work:)
Was there water on the North rim?
There was not as the north rim was closed when we did this run. I believe there is water when the north rim is open but check before you go
Congrats man! You made it look to easy!!💪🏃♂️
Outstanding job. You should be very proud of yourself. I am curious to know which knee compression sleeves you wore during this race.
Excellent work. I’m jealous. That’s definitely a bucket list run.
definitely worth it! Do it!
Great job. It will be 6 years for me by the time I run the Bandera 100 KM this upcoming Jan (2023). I am going to do the Bandera 100 km in Jan (2023) I have a few marathons under my belt but I have not been trail running lately. What shoes would did you use? Do you have any favorite shoes you would use again? I saw the course. I am on the fence about trekking poles. What are your thoughts on those for this course?
Awesome! I used the Hoka Speedgoats 4 for this race. Recently I switched to the Brooks Cascadia 16s though. They are both great trail running sneakers. As for poles, I did not use any but it may be worth while. I used poles when I did the grand canyon rim2rim2rim and it was definitely a help. Best ofluck on the run though, It was a lot of fun
@@minduncaged8101 I am going to try Hoka Speedgoat 5's and see how they work.....still 26 weeks away to figure it out!
Appreciate you sharing your experience openly and honestly. Enjoyed watching. Well done on completing the distance 💪

Just came across your channel and subscribed! Congrats on 4 years sober and finishing the 50k! What an amazing journey and race. I'll be watching your "2022 Rocky Raccoon 50 Mile" race video soon too. See ya over there ;-)
Thanks a lot!
Awesome work. I too am sober for the past 3 years. Have fallen in love with running Ultra marathons. Great work love the videos
At first I thought you were riding an ATV to the finish! 😆 Trails are so much more fun to me than roads... no matter what the terrain.
Walkers at the finish always place higher than DNF'ers. 🙂Good job!
I appreciate that!! I thought so too
Tienes un buen canal. Por aquí un nuevo suscriptor y campanita activa. Saludos!
Buen vídeo compañero, enhorabuena. Un saludo!
Thank you!!!
Congratulations, on the 50k and the 4 years dry! You managed to keep your humor all the way to the end. (With a few lapses along the way off camera, I'm guessing!? 😆)
Lapses off camera??? NEVER!!! 😜
Congrats on such a strong race!! The smile on your face at Z said it all. The alphabet signs were a brilliant idea. So what's next?
Thanks a lot!! Next up is the Grand Canyon Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim at the end of April. :)
Great Job!
Thanks a lot!
Congratulations well done, keep up the spirit and embrace it…
Well done!!! COngrats on the 50 mile finish!

Great job! I am hoping to do an 84K (52 miler) in June with a 14 hr cut off.
Thanks a lot! And good luck on your 52 miler! That sounds exciting!
Where is it at?
@@minduncaged8101 The Mourne Way Ultra in Ireland.
Random question. What camera do you use? The image stabilization is great.
I used a GoPro hero 8 on the trail. I’m really enjoying it.
@@minduncaged8101 I have a hero 7 that I use. It’s no where near that good. Must have some improvements! Our running channel is “Motivated By Medals” if you’re interested.
@@MRNBricks I’ll check it out - thanks
