Duke was way too much of a jump blues traditionalist for Bob. Great player, but not the right contemporary guitar sound for Bob, which is more about texture and minimalism.

Eddie was clearly what made Van Halen great! The guy knew how to write a song. Dave messed up BIG TIME not realizing early on that the only irreplaceable member was Ed. Eat em and smile, Skyscraper, a little ain’t enough could have been VH records. I wonder if a good DJ could sample some of Dave’s eat em & smile and Skyscraper with some 5150 and OU812 and get a few more VH songs?
