Nice run! Date? Flow?
June 14, 2024. We think around 16k.
HUGE wave!
That looked intense!
Pretty brave to run with your bimini up.
Very low center of gravity with a 10' diamond plate floor. I put it down for 7s and above.
Got lucky on that one. If you're making the right-left move, it is best to have a steep downstream ferry, and bust the left lateral that comes off the right horn. Then KEEP PULLING to river left until out of the fray. Getting into those waves where you did at that level will often flip a boat, then send it directly into the rocks on the right shore. Better yet, at that level - and any level down to about 7,000 CFS, simply split the horns. Always. Much safer.
Yep. Split them last year and it worked great. My cat has a low center of gravity and is heavy. I took all the wet and wild lines last year and never came close to flipping.
Man do I miss Phoenix! I’ll be back in 1 year .. snowbird city for me.. I’m in Buffalo ny
Nice, I just built my own quad ( all aluminum). I fly a fresh breeze 210. My total weight is 42 lbs. and my wing is a Atlas 29 meter. Based on those specs what do you think? Your opinion is appreciated. Paul
Should be good unless you are really heavy. I weigh 180 and fly a Momentum 28 and Nucleon 24 with mine. My quad with the Fresh breeze simonini 202 does climb a lot better than the Blackhawk 125 though.
Have you noticed a significant chunk of the rapids near the end of the video have since disappeared due to that enormous rain storm we had in sept of 2014? Went down the river yesterday and noticed the entire left side is now essentially a delta due to flooding from bulldog canyon.
Great build - you have inspired me to build my own - you and the 1000$ most want for their trikes Cheers
I live in Las Cruces New Mexico on Highway 70 I'm interested in learning how to purchase and how to operate one
I hear a guy named Hadley in West El Paso is a good guy and instructor. southwestairsports.com Stay away from Dell Shanze or Curt Fister. Facebook has two groups you might like, Paramotor and Paramotor things for sale.
Great flying and great video! Formation flight is so awesome! In the beginning of March, we've done a close formation flight here in Greece with two RVs. An RV-6A and an RV-7A. I have uploaded the video on my channel if you're interested to see.
Arizona Flying Circus this weekend @ MoTown
You Da Man!!! FYI AK-CHIN Airport, where AIRPARAMO is located here in Maricopa has same price <$4.00
I love this idea. I'm going to build one the same way. my only question is. Where does the quad attatch to the paramotor? just the paramotor fram or to the harness too? I would think that the quad frame would put alot of torque on the motor frame durring flight if that's the only place it connects.
On the weight shift harness there is line from the front of the seat going through that eye bolt to help keep it at the right angle in flight. With rigid j bars that is not needed but either way you need a seat support. Landing loads are more of a problem than flight loads.
That's great. I'm gonna start it in the morning. Thank you for the info. I may write back if I have any more questions
You are welcome. Hang check it when you are done. 0-10 degrees tip back with you in it. I prefer 0-5. Make sure you build it so your rear wheels always touch down first and front always lift off first. It will tend to straighten out that way if you are drifting and not swap ends.
Sweet! So this is what your bringing to AZ FLYING CIRCUS? OMG, that is AWESOME!
Don, I wanted to tell you that Mo and some helpers cleared the road to Motown. I just got home and wanted to tell you and maybe you can tell your buddies it is not that bad at all. Totally doable. Hope you guys can make it to the circus. Looking forward to seeing the Glamis videos.
+Michael Beck (OQTIVE) Ryan Shaw ended up taking the group to Pleasant Valley airport instead thinking the wind would be better. It was still windy and I only got two flights in. I didn't get any worthy video this time.
What a great time! Love it, I am flying the same Flat Top Ninja with GIN Sprint Glider and sometimes the Skycruiser Trike. Please contact me if I can join the next event. Thanks, fly safe
+Michael Beck (OQTIVE) It's in usually in October. Their Facebook page is the best way to stay up to date facebook.com/groups/flymonumentvalley/
+Don Prosise Thanks Don, Glamis in Feb I think. Also, Flying Circus at Motown and Salton Sea. Probably flying today if weather stays good. Two days ago I flew. Crazy gusty and variable winds.... Pucker level, High. lol
+Michael Beck (OQTIVE) Been there a few times on the pucker factor. Last time I talked to Mo he wasn't sure about the road for motorhomes. I may be out there. Headed to Glamis on Sunday for a week with Ryan Shaw's group.
+Don Prosise sweet! I'll see what my buddies have planned. They rail, I'm the only flyer. I will send you a message if same weekend. Love to say hi
+Michael Beck (OQTIVE) Don, my buddies are going Valentines Day weekend. But, I just registered for AZ FLYING CIRCUS for same weekend Feb 11-14 2016 $40 + t-shirt. FYI. My home is very close to the event and if I can help out, just let me know. That goes for all Pilots.
Will do!
Firebird Raceway! Nice!!!
Excellent! I will be flying this and south Saguaro Lake area with friends and family this January. You're invited, bring some friends as well.
+Michael Beck (OQTIVE) Sounds good. Let me know when and where.
Looks like my side of town. Where is this? Cool vid!
+Michael Beck (OQTIVE) It's Apache Junction.
See you in 2016! Happy New Year!!! Safe travels...
Hey Don, love your vids. Let's fly, I'm in Maricopa but love to fly everywhere.
Join us early Jan 2016 south side Saguaro lake. Check my channel for update. Cool vid!
+Michael Beck (OQTIVE) Thanks. One of my favorite flights.
It was my first time down and I loved it. I hope to do more private trips. Been shopping gear since I got back. I slept better down there than I do at home listening to the water.
We were there just three days before you (nice runs, by the way). We camped just above Lava on the left . . . it whispered to us all night :) We were on the water by 6:50 and through by 7 (there is a GoPro segment of our run here on youtube) . . . and at Whitmore Wash camp by 10.
you using the 125 engen
Peter Higbie Hi Peter. I flew a Black 125 and Momentum 28m wing on that quad for two years. It worked but didn't climb well. That is a Fresh Breeze 122 with the 202cc Simonini on there now and it climbs very well even with my 24m Hadron.
That was fun.
Wow! You did a bunch of great trails! That sounds like one epic vacation. Good work and great pics thanks!
I'm a ppg pilot in gilbert, where do you take off from? Nice video!!
Thank you for the video Don, that was great to see. I really appreciate it.
Best Flight Yet!
Great video. You should get a job doing this, oh that's right, you don't do jobs.
Thanks Larry. Not as fun as the ones you starred in but still fun. When I retired I meant it!
Hi Bryan. That was South of Riggs off of Adora Blvd. Last time we were out there was about a year ago and there were a lot more houses than when the video was made. Finding good spots is getting harder each time we lose a spot but we have found a few. Some take more experience than others. Where are you flying? Are you new or been flying a while? Off on weekends or during the week?
Don Prosise I'm off on the weekends. My first flight was April this year in Maricopa. I still drive down there but want to get hooked up with pilots closer to home (queen creek-- san tan heights)
Bryan Beikman Hey Bryan. Sent you a PM on FB so as not to put my email and phone number out for all the spammers. It's in your other folder.
I live close by to that area. Where exactly do you take off at? Do you still fly out there? Let me know so I can fly with you. Bryan
Nice footage, I would like to fly there sone day!
1980airhead The part over the river is closed Dec. 1 thru June 30 for Bald Eagle breeding. It is pretty hot here until the end of Sept. so now is the best time!
Don Prosise too bad, I usually visit the Phoenix area in late winter.
You have any photos of the quad set up you made? I have the same set up and wing.
ua-cam.com/video/FYtyvnAj9d0/v-deo.html Here is a video. I have since put Harbor Freight 13" wheels on back. You want your thrust pointed up some on the ground so it does not disturb your laid out wing. I shorted the front axle, removed the brakes and put seat support also.
Send your email and I can send some pics and more tips.
Nice video Don. Looks like a blast!
Thanks. It was a beautiful morning.
Kevin Lee August will be 3 years. I fly a Nucleon WRC. Really fast.
Damn dude, throttle is on the right.....!!!!
Nice
Gotta Love Moab!!
First pilot needed to hit the power right at the end.
You're welcome Chris. It was a good fly-in. Many thanks to Joe O.
Nice! You captured quite a few of my launch/landings that day on this vid! Thanks for sharing!
Too cool. I plan on going when I get the truck finished up.
Thanks Jake. We were up there for 8 or 9 nights. Spent a few days doing trails in an area and then moved to another. I found great free camping sites for most of it.
Awesome driving and great video. Did you got to all those places in the same day? How much fuel?
Thanks. It is hard to tell even in HD. The horns came up and circled back around the side of their heads.
Yeah, that makes a whole heck of a lot more sense for the terrain, but I could have sworn I saw two pair of deer ears pointed right at you! :) Cool video.
Desert Bighorn sheep.
