My husband is waiting to hear whether his SECOND LIVE DONOR is eligible. The first was not eligible to donate. We know both of the perspective donors. Donor #2 needed one more test. That was July 7. We still have not heard from the hospital. Isn't time of the essence? My husband's NKR Donor Search Expert Coach disappeared. I had to have Office Depot print up more "business" cards as we have already gone through over 500. We've been on TV, radio, in the newspaper, all over social media looking for live donors. Supposedly we have/had 7 people register but I don't know if that includes the first two. My husband's microsite, which is a great idea, has had thousands of hits. So, there seems to be a disconnect somewhere.

She needed to add that there are two other factors that go with donating a kidney. One is that you forever go to the top of the list if you ever need a kidney because you have donated one. You also get five vouchers to give to friends or family, which puts them to the top of the list if they ever need a kidney. Those two considerations are important to know about, one of the main incentives for donating.

Hello, I’m looking for a donor to help. Give me a kidney in order to save my life.

I believe the donation should be paid. In Iran there is no waiting list of recepients, but waiting list of donors, because government pays for donation and takes care of all expenses for donors.

Any updates on this video since it was published? Any more data on immunosuppression/rejection experiences and the differences in the amount of meds, timeframes, etc. This might be a good option to consider for younger/healthier recipients that can afford to wait?

I dont want to donate to anyone that's rich or has done work in the stock market etc. I'd only want to donate to someone poor and in need that hasn't contributed to poor circumstances for people like me. Is that possible. I read the rich are higher up on the list and i would prefer that if i donate it goes to someone not wealthy.

I just donated on 02-14-24. I went through the NKR and the voucher program for a friend. I only have great things to say about donor shield, NKR, and NYU Langone. 🙏

I heard about a friend of a friend needing a kidney, so I decided to register with NKR. It took about 2 1/2 months for me to complete the donor evaluation process. I was pleased to learn I was eligible to donate and a match for the person I wanted to donate to. My donation is in one week.

Dr. Marsh, You mentioned donors with ASD. I’m curious about this because I’m hoping to give undesignated donation and I think I’m on the tail end of the spectrum. I noticed that one of the family members who understands my desire to do this is also on the spectrum. Have you seen any correlation at all?

My sister donated a kidney to our dad almost 18 years ago, my dad is doing good. I just received a kidney 7 weeks ago and am doing good, mine was a deceased donor, I will be forever greatful to my donor and their family. The part about donors saying if they could do it again they would my sister always told me that when I found out I would need a kidney.

Don't bother trying to be a donor if you are bipolar. I tried and was rejected, even though my doctor wrote a letter supporting me. This is just more stigmatizing of mental illness. Too bad a worthy recipient missed out on a much needed kidney.

In my experience, if you are bi-polar, don't even bother trying to be a donor. Even a letter in support from your psychiatrist will not convince them. Makes me mad.
