Nobody would say it today, but during the time of our most famous monarch, Prague was even the capital of wine. Charles IV, a great wine lover, had grapevine seedlings imported, mainly from France, the Rhineland and the Austrian lands, and ordered them to be planted within a radius of 3 Czech miles (i.e. about 23 km) from the city center. Vineyard in Grébovka - The romantic park known as Grébovka was founded by Prague industrialist Moritz Gröbe. He built the entire park in the style of the Italian Renaissance and, in addition to the large neo-Renaissance villa and the Grotta cave, he had two wooden pavilions built here - the Grébovka Pavilion and the Viniční altán. In addition, there is the Grébovka Cellar, where you can also taste wines from local production. The varieties grown here are Riesling, Müller Thurgau, Pinot noir and gris or Modrý Portugal, Hibernal, Dornfelder or Sauvignier Gris. St. Wenceslas Vineyard - This vineyard, which you will find when you walk up the Old Castle Stairs to the castle, is one of the oldest vineyards in Bohemia. Prince Wenceslas grew grapes here as early as the 10th century. Originally called Na Opyši, today it is adorned with the neoclassical Richter Villa. Pinot Noir and Riesling are grown here, which you can taste right here on the Pergola right in the middle of the vineyard. As a bonus, you will get a beautiful view of Prague. St. Klary Vineyard - a large vineyard that is part of the botanical garden. White varieties Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Sauvignon, Moravian Muscat, Traminer, Pinot Gris are grown here. Red varieties are Modrý Portugal and Pinot Noir. Salabka Vineyard - Near the St. Klary Vineyard, right next to the Fata Morgana greenhouse. The first mentions of it date back to the 13th century. It was named after the landowner Salab, who built a farmstead with an inn here in the 16th century. The restaurant is still there today and several rows of original Riesling bushes have been preserved. If you are not interested in tasting, you can also visit other Prague vineyards where wine is grown, but only a very small number of bottles are produced, which are not commonly available. These include Archibiskupská vinice in Modřany, Svatojánská in Malá Strana, Máchalka in Vysočany (my favorite, I once rented a row of vines there and it was great), Baba in Dejvice, vineyard Albertov or vineyard nin Staré burkrabství at Vyšehrad.
That’s for your nice comment and this information! It’s very interesting.
@@Duke-Jason Welcome! I just love Prague's vineyards. 😊
Wetherpoons is the definintion of a shit hole. Lokal is one of the best spots to drink the best beer in the world and every location serving a different menu of homemade Czech food. These two idiots are so hard to watch and will probably catch a beating sooner than later.
The Brit once again confirmed the reputation of the British as a cultured, educated, respectful, intelligent, noble, distinguished, interesting and beautiful nation that leaves behind only the most brilliant and valuable traces. Confirmed a million times over by their entire history. These are not drunkards from Eastern Europe who only have booze on their minds and are constantly criticized for it by those with deep and noble interests. Imagine if English were not an international language, what wisdom we would be missing. We wouldn't even know this existed and would visit foreign countries for the sights and nature and then selfishly keep it to ourselves.
Czech Wetherspoons? Don't ever come back to the Czech Republic.
I came here to write that. Thanks for saving me the time. However he has redeemed himself a little with some true words at the beginning of the video I guess.
I did write high quality in the description! It’s Wetherspoons in the way that it’s a chain bar and it doesn’t play music! It’s far superior in every other way…the beer is another level!
