Jane was no angel. She wanted to marry a man she didn't love just to get his money and business. She also did all she could to screw that guy over. Then got pissy when it didn't work out.
No one is a angel but Jane was much less bad than any of the other female main character in this show and was more kind and empathic untill the writers decide to fuck her character up in season 5 and worsened in 2009 reboot.
i hated that they made them enemies! butt... jo was wrong to go after richard just cuz jake cheated on her! you dont do that to your friends regardless if she knew jane didn't love richard. she should have just stayed in her lane period! didnt care for her afterwards! shame on you joe!
I agree, they were much better as friends . Season 4 made alot of storyline mistakes. For example, Richard was initially a good guy and more believable as that... but then they made him crazy. And having Jake cheat on Jo with Shelly was dumb especially after everything Jake and Jo went thru to be together

And don't get me wrong MELROSE PLACE is supposed to be campy extremes, great trash...but this scene was one of many bastardizings of characters. I think it had to do with the fact Darren Starr wasn't as part of the creative team anymore. The tone of the show was never quite right after the explosion, it was all downhill after that, and I honestly believe proof is in the departure of characters Jo, Jane, Jake, Alison, Kimberly, Sydney, Matt and Billy before the series ended.

I agree. Jo vs. Jane was terrible, and it's no wonder Daphne spear-headed the line of key players that left soon after all this mess.
I don't believe this was in character for either woman. Now, I understand Jane had been sweet up until a point her business got taken away from her and the explosion, and I understand Jo was fragile after Jess beat her severely and of course the explosion. But Jo rebounding from Jake and Shelly with Richard at Jane's expense was contrived, and a total dumbing down of a classic character created by Daphne Zuniga and a total assasination of a classic character created by Josie Bissett.
It seemed season 4 was when I started to feel the show didn't seem to care as much about the characters. I know Josie B was fighting for a stronger character but this was not the way to do it!
Plus Jo had never backstabbed Jane before. I really don't like that they put How with Richard. Notice how bad the show got after season 4. Daphne Zuniga said that she left because the writers seemed to care more about the new characters.
I agree with these comments because I noticed a difference in some of the main characters in Season 4, they had dark moments. That was pretty dark of Jo to do that to Jane. It was pretty dark of Jane to do what she did to her friends out of spitefulness and how she treated Sydney of course but to top the cake, I thought they made Billy's character darker in this season, especially what he did to Alison in the latter part of the season that caused her to leave D&D. I know Brooke was a pain in the ass but he said and did some pretty dark things to her. Jake, Matt, Michael, Amanda, Peter, Sydney, Kimberly and Alison were the only characters that hadn't change.
Michael c Sydney‘s clothing style became awful...and the short hair by almost end of season 4. I prefered the Sydney from season 2 and 3. She was a little more natural. Alison started to become more serious since the end of season 4/beginning of season 5. I missed her naivity a little. And she was getting a little too cold to Billy. i understand, because of what he did to her, but they were better together than Jake and Alinore 😉
@@ThorstenHeil to be honest, I never like the Allison and Billy love storyline. They always felt like more brother and sister than lovers/friends. I don't know what it was about them two, but that is the vibe I always got from them two, since the beginning of the show. Then they force the relationship between them two into lovers. I don't know if it was the actors that made it feel more like a brother/sister vibe but i'm glad they didn't get together in the end.

Jane simply overreacted right here. She never liked Richard she was just mad at the fact that Jo now had something that she didn't have anymore. Plain and simple jealousy, nothing more. At this point in the show, Jane had changed for the worst while acting out towards her friends in a passive aggressive manner. Even Sydney became more of a rational human being than crazy Jane. I sometimes can't believe that Jane even has fans. I mean I felt bad for her at first but she went from everything is roses and sunshine to a lunatic. I honestly like Jo, Sydney, Alison & Amanda the most for the girls. Jane would be an ok character to me. I hated Taylor, Lexi, and Jennifer. And I felt bad for Eve because she got screwed. Same with Jo same with Alison same with Sydney. Sammantha and Megan were also ok but slightly annoying. Oh yeah, and Kimberly is annoying but I feel bad for her sometimes.

well it was coming and yet kinda understandable with everything she's been through with Michael, Sydney, Kimberly, her business and Richard. The last person she would want to have a problem with was Jo. Jo's behavior definitely played a part of Jane's anger. Jane confided in Jo about her relationship troubles with Richard and Jo convinces Jane to break up with Richard, only to end up dating him shortly after that. Richard shouldn't of even entertained that but I always thought he went with Jo to get back at Jane. Jo and Richard had no connection, at all. Jo also was talking shit about Jane's business and how she was gonna loose her friends.
Jo was used to getting knocked around at that point.

@brinpol The original concept by writer/creator Darren Starr was a drama about young singles trying to make it in Los Angeles. Friendship being the key anchor(he also wrote Bev Hill 90210), but like all "popular" tv shows he ultimately "sold out". Let the network bean counters spice up the show. Oh well, at least the early season's had a lot of substance/heart. Enjoy them on DVD.

I liked Jane, Jo and Alison's friendship - it was too bad that the show did not stick with it like they had in seasons 1 -3 ....in season 4 Jo and Jane's friendship was ruined by Richard and then in season 5 Jane goes crazy and her friendship with Alison was ruined.
