Jerby Santo is one of the rarest species in the local music industry in Region 8. His gumption in music is pure. I’ve known him since forever throughout our band days and even during my brief stint of “solo” gigs, shortly after our band “Sangkay” has gone lethargic. I wrote “Paglaum” by Mandy Sevilla, which happens to be on You Tube too many moons ago. I may not know a lot of local artists in Tacloban these days, since I too, have long been inactive even waaaayyy earlier than Jerby. We have had gigs here and there, back in the day when “Campo Santo” and “Sangkay” were still giddy about performing (and when “Bolingling” Vice Mayor Reposar of Palo, was still much younger) digging in being on the sidelines watching us perform on stage, which years later, he came out on top with the latter’s “Real Talk” genres style of composing. Jerby’s songs are really great! These “MAGSAYSAY” and "MASAHE" are my favorites, though apparently as poet himself, he had written far more poignant stuffs that y’all may have never heard. RESPECT Jerbs!!!
