What an amazingly difficult way of life. When I was a toddler my Dad's uncle had a caravan site at Bridlington and we stayed there for a week in a Gypsy round top caravan. I thought it was magic but Mum was glad to be back home! I wonder why these people always want to be on the move - a sense of freedom? When horse fairs were granted by royal charter hundreds of years ago things were very different and the Gypsy way of life was closer to peasant life all over. Alas, over the years urban life spread exponentially and Gypsies seen as bad news. The simple fact that they have survived is a testament to something they have that we have lost... or perhaps never had.
Police need reporting to rspca how close that policeman got close to hitting that horse. Its a time to meet family have a deal laughter & memories that go on forever long may it continues for many many generations.
That was good old days and, now old days was gone now, never come back them day now, them days was good, all my grannies and grandad all gone now, I miss them, they had them days now , and gone ,we don't see them 😡
Some very of fine examples of the type there that day and I wish I had been there and lucky enough to come away with a purchase. I visted and work on a friends 2 properties on the green and he never mentioned a horse fair,I just able to make out his property in this video
I remember the time well. Never to return again. Local councils have taken the wintering and stopping land and had it sold to build houses. cushty boc, we sure need it.
Excellent way of life is horse drawn, a shame they all moved into houses or permanent site's and don't live their original ways no more, I'm a gorgy but I know many old travellers and have lived and travelled on the road with my Piebald Welsh Cob pulling my Dray, I lived in a Bender.
you can stop and stay , where ever you want , but do not leave any damage , because if they question you , and you answer them , that is considered a breach of the peace , the poice dont excist untill you speak to them , you can graze your live stock on ANY land in this country , under the charter of the forrest, how ever if you leave any thing behind ,even including horse shit , that is a tresspass
you can spoke untill you are blue in the face they let it go in one ear and out of the other one gavers and councils are all the same they try to stop every think we do
They are showing there authoritie,,, an agenda, against us, again part.of the ruleing class, were scum, even the police were called plebs,, by an ,m,p,.sorry, f,,,,, ,,,,,, g.plebs, bullie tactics,,, thats all, police are only working class, being used by the ,,, ruleing,,, classes, of our society,,, but people fail to recognise,, that gypsys are multi million heirs,,, yes,,
A great event on the gypsy calender, captured perfectly in this great video. Nothing is left out.. The full monty, I've commented on this before, but felt that i had to add to it. Spot on. God bless. Gary.
Hello, I have to say that this video/photoslideshow must easily be one of the very best that has, & will ever be uploaded to you tube. It captures the very essence of gypsy life from days that many people from this generation have never seen - but only heard about. The professionalism & attention to detail of this show is unquestable, it really is that good. My grandparents were romany, & i have some old pics of them, similar to some of your photos. Tuly excellent! God bless you & your Family.
Grand old footage of this premier event on the travellers calender. Excellent throughout, & very entertaining. Well done! Thanks. Gary. (from travelling ancestry myself)

Sad to just get a message on Pinterest when I searched using the word Gypsy! Apparently it is considered hate speech?
It drives me mad , so many of my comments get deleted from UA-cam when I'm talking about gypsy related subjects . It's oppression from the left .
