I'm having problems with my horse who falls in the circle and keeps cutting corners when doing full circuits of the school. I can't seem to keep her on track through bends & turns, especially when doing transitions. I know she can ride straight, and I know it is my riding that is causing this, however, we don't seem to have these problems when riding a 20m circle in the middle of the school, she will bend nicely and do a good 20m :/ Help.

I have a question. You said that the first leg in the canter is the inside front leg. I have learned that the canter starts on the outside hind leg and from observation that is what I have seen. Can you please explain more thoroughly?

Rein without leg? I don't know that I agree with that. ALL half halts begin with the riders leg. There are several reasons. 1. if the horse is correctly trained they will reach under engage the hind leg. With the hind leg under they can transfer weight to their haunches and become light in front. 2.Rein without leg may indeed slow the horse down but without engagement of the hind end the will end up on their forehand. I'm not saying your wrong but it doesn't fit with how we were taught.

a horse is on the bit when it seeks the contact. A horse rounding its neck naturally may not be on the bit - it may be behind the bit (not taking a contact). A horse can be on the bit but not 'round' but it should never be 'round' unless it is on the bit.

The core part being from 1:35 - 1:40. So, you make sure the horse is bent in the old direction and then put the new inside leg on and move the new outside leg back, simultaneously bending the horse in the opposite (new) direction?

It would be a lot more helpful if you would refer to "new inside", "old inside", "new outside", and "old outsite" instead of left and right. I had to listen to the core part of this over and over to get what you were saying.

Nice, but this begs the question, "How do you ask a horse for more impulsion?"
