Thanks so much for posting this. I saw the Cajun and between watching both of you, I changed my vents out. It stopped the water in the intrusion. I bought the GM OEM because on these odd items, I've had bad times with after market parts. Mine is a 2009 Silverado, XCab, 5.3.

I went to the dealership to get a quote on how much they would charge to put them on my 2006 GMC serria crew cab and they told me it would be $450, because it takes to hours to put them in, because you have to move the bed back a little. I did it myself in about 20 min.

Check the rubber seal along the top of the door. I also had some of the rubber pull away. Look at it while it's closed. It will be obvious. Then open the door and look.

anyone getting ready to do this job, needs to read this first. ignore taking everything apart inside the truck. all you have to do is get a long 24" big screwdriver and push up on the old vent then gently pry the bottom snaps out and pull the old vent off. if you worry about the paint just wrap the screwdriver with tape. slide the new vent up into place using screwdriver to be sure the top end snap is in first, then snap in the bottom by pushing it in. it is not hard to do at all and i was able to do both of my vents in 5 minutes from start to finish.

@@Durf8 There is a angled push-in lip at the top. Need to push the top down and pull towards the bed (away from the cab). This is seen starting at 1:15

I honestly Cannot remember the exact issue resolution. I think there was just residual air in the lines that worked itself out. I will say that if you start hearing that "air sucking" noise under the hood (engine filter) there is a significant air leak that needs to be addressed. Similar process to changing the fuel filters. If the sound persists and it is still loud and "Crackling" you have an air leak somewhere.
