I think people who hear them actually think "angel" is a pet name.

I love it so much when Crowley calls him angel, it's just so sweet and if you pay attention to everytime he use it it's always in the moment he's more emotional or serious (at least from what I noticed) and it's just so sweet for some reasons that when he "drops" the act he just straight up call him angel instead of his name, it's so cute. The way the actor portray that specific nickname doesn't even make it feel like a classic"funny joke because he's technically a angel", it genuinely feel like a cute petname, it's meant to sound like that and I live for it.

REAL FUN FACT : Yes Crowley is not saying "Angel" but "My Angel" in the french version BUT ITS THE SUBTITLES !!! In the dub version he is calling him "Cherub" (aka the baby angel). And the only time Crowley is SAYING "My Angel", the ONLY TIME, it's at the "Get in" moment ! Like !!!! Poetic cinema !!!! 😭💛🖤
