back 2 backpacking
Приєднався 6 кві 2023
We are Brigit and Ori and we love backpacking! We met while traveling in Africa back in the 1990s. Now, 30 years later, we hit the road again. Our plan is to cover 6 continents in the following year. We want to travel overland as much as possible. We don't wish to "country-count", so when staying in a country, we are going to make the most of it. We go on a budget, that means no luxury hotels or all-inclusive resorts. Everything we need is in our backpacks. We care about the environment, minimize our footprint and always prefer local services. In our videos we share our experience and hope to inspire other independent travelers.
These are 4k videos, so we encourage you to watch on a large screen from the comfort of your arm-chair. All the music is original and is written by Tamir & Ori, all thumbnails and graphic design is done by Nofar. Please respect our efforts on these videos, and contact us if you plan to use it.

Yotvata and the Leopard Temple
Israel Negev desert today is a dry and desolated land. Surprisingly this area was populated in ancient times and if you look closely enough you can still find their artifacts. Here Ori and his two buddies are exploring the area between Shaharut and Yotvata. Who are the people who worshiped the leopards? Can we find the elusive leopard here? Join us to find out!

The hike from Shaharut to Yotvata is about 5 to 6 hours walk. You can return with a bus but you need to pre-book it. All other sites in this video are a short walking distance from the road.
Tips for hiking in the desert:
1) Be sure to bring enough water with you
2) Start the hike early in the morning so you can be sure to finish before dark.
3) Check the weather forecast, beware of hiking during floods or heat-waves (hamsin).

This mountain is dangerously beautiful. Please take care of your body while you're climbing. Indian boy.jai hind.
Absolutely right Das, e might have occasionally strayed from the path but for most of the time - one should always follow marked trails to avoid danger to self and the environment.
What a gigantic motor cycle. Too heavyweight but looks very beautiful. Pray for your safe journey. India. Jai hind. Bharat mata ki joy.
Thanks! It is a BMW GS750, little bigger then the Indian Royal Enfield Himalayan :-)
Problem with spelling?
Oh, the thumbnail... changing, thanks!
Thanks ori greate video respect
Great video. Having travelled extensively in the Egyptian Sinai, it was interesting to see over the border!
Thanks David, as you travel north of Sinai, the desert landscape changes, both sides are beautiful!
Really enjoyed your trek thru' this part of the desert. Great scenery and videography.
An interesting video. The last wild Arabian leopard in Israel was spotted in 2007 in the Negev Desert and died in 2009. Today, fewer than 10 Arabian leopards remain in Israel, and all are in captivity. Very sad. Can't imagine a leopard falling for the trap, though!
Yes David, last one wondered into someone's house in Sde Boker (old and exhausted) and as you mentioned, died a couple of years later. Imagine seeing such a leopard in the Negev!
Nice journey. thx 4 sharing.
Thanks Gill!
that takes me back ....to 2002...lovely quiet spot...❤️❤️...actually the whole island is fine...👍it's 4 degrees c where I am now.....but I still have memories....thanks for posting this...
Thanks! Your welcome to watch the full video on the channel!
Beautiful shots!
The bear interaction wasn’t the smartest
Yes, probably was a bit too close...
Your videos are amazing! Thank you for putting out such great content. The time and care you put into your work is truly commendable.
Es un buen vino si me lo preguntas Saludos desde México
Si, lo es, gracias por comentar
You seem like a nice couple, but you can't sing for nuts...............come back!
So glad you enjoyed your time here. You are a lovely couple
Thanks so much! 😊
Bravo! I'm happy you enjoyed Australia 🙌🏼😀
Good stops. You picked the popular iconic places of Sydney's CBD.
Such a lovely video, and you are two very lovely people. I was born in Sydney and lived here most of my life, and your video brought back fond memories of places here I know well, but have not been to for many years.......thank you, and please come back sometime💗.
Thanks you Steve for kind words, yes we also wish to come back one day, who knows?
Bon voyage! Glad you enjoyed your time in Australia.
Thanks Sue, we already miss it...
It's a great pey !😂
Looking very relaxed as time is going on
Thank you Baker, that's an accurate observation :-)
kangaroos can fuck you up when they need to, a cassowary will actually enjoy it and go out of its way to make your day miserable.
Very interesting!
Best country on the planet :)
@@deathofcommonsense one of the top 5 for sure
What a crazy creature - the Platypus
Only in Australia...
Beautiful music and movie. Every time I want to relax, I watch one of your movie 🎥❤
Dear Sigal, this is the biggest complement, thanks!
What an AMAZING channel❤
What a SUNSET!!!!
So beautiful!
Amazing adventures!
So beautiful
Some of the best REEF filming I have seen...WELL DONE
Thanks Warwick, it is indeed a beautiful reef there!
My wife works in the old McDonnel & East building
Happy Anniversary - Love the Bagara/Bundaberg area - one of my favourite parts of Queensland
More absorbing photography! I live near brisbane; but I guess I don't look around as carefully as you two.
Thanks again Ron! Remember, the slower you travel, the more you see...
Thanks for your video. Spotting koalas is very difficult. You might have walked directly underneath one and not seen it. If it's any consolation, I've lived in Australia for 70 years and used to do a lot of bushwalking, but I have probably seen fewer than 20 wild koalas in that time. I now live in an area with a small population of koalas and in 10 years I have seen abour 4. They are here, but are very difficult to spot. Have a great trip in Australia!
Thanks Mike, it's great to hear that you did have a few koala encounters! We stretched our necks long on many of our walks in Queensland, but couldn't find any. Finally we spotted one "almost wild" in Magnetic island, the video will be uploaded soon, so stay tuned!
Him calling an ibis bird a bin chicken is absolutely feral! They are a fantastic majestic high flying bird that deserves more respect. Maybe if humans didn’t leave their trash lying around
I just love the white Ibis... Apparently in Australia they call them Bin-birds or bin-chicken...
Everyone in Australia call them bin-chickens.
thats because they are, bin chickens. need a tissue?
Thanks for some excellent photography. Thanks for taking us along! Thanks for the singing, though I couldn't hear that clearly - perhaps that's best😊
Thanks Ron, and trust me, you didn't miss out much of my singing
Very nice video 👏
Thanks, glad you like it!
@@back2backpacking you deserve it 😎
The red and blue birds you saw at Bald Hill were crimson rosellas.
Wonderful crimson color - thanks!
That tea-brown colour of the water at Huskisson Beach is from the tannins leaching out of dead gum leaves.
Thanks, good to know it is natural...
Bluebottle tentacles will inject you with a neurotoxin that's very painful for a few hours, but not usually life threatening. Box jellyfish are usually found much farther north, off the coast of Queensland.
Thanks again for the information! In Australian water - sometime the little things are the most dangerous...
And those are definitely dolphins in Callala Bay 🐬. Whales also come into the Bay during migration season, mostly humpbacks.
Well, look like we need to visit again during the whale season 🙂
@@back2backpacking You can do dolphin and whale cruises in the bay from Huskisson
Be careful touching trees and leaves in Australia. In tropical North Queensland there is a tree called the Gympie-Gympie tree, the leaves have tiny nettles that get under the skin and can't be removed, some people suffer with the pain for years.
Yep, thanks for the warning. We later found out about this "burning plant", so, it is always good to be careful.
I am pleased you filmed the climb/walk at kings canyon as I couldn’t do it, so nice to see what I missed. However I did the valley walk which was lovely. I am pleased they stopped the uluru climb, it was disrespectful to the people who hold it sacred and it also needs to be protected.
Yes, kings-canyon is not an easy climb, but the view is so much worth it...
I like you and your videos. It is very thoughtful that you have subtitles as well. This one reminds me of my day at Australia Zoo.
Thanks for kind words Jenny. It's great our videos can revive some good memories...
I climbed Uluru when I was 5, that's 43 years ago and still remember it like it was yesterday. I'm glad they've stopped the climbs though, it seems everything we touch eventually gets ruined. Enjoy your visit to Arnhem land.😊❤
Yes Julian, sometime you just have to protect these special places otherwise they'll be totally trashed...
Lovely photography of some beautiful landscapes. P.s the karaoke was very entertaining! Cheers from Ballarat
Thank you Sue, we had a really good time in Alice and around it, i guess it shows!
Ooo
I love the Jervis Bay region especially Booderee National Park . Thanks for your lovely video !
Thanks Louisa, we fell in love with this area!
