This video helped us so much thank you for the content!
Great voice over! Well done!
What belt did you buy can't fine one
I work almost exclusively on Splendide's. The belt actually melts on the motor spindle because something stops the drum from turning It could be overloading, but most fequently is caused by dryer balls people use to prevent wrinkles. A ball gets stuck between the front paddle and the glass door. Just FYI, if the drum does get jammed up, the belt will self destruct in less than 8 seconds!
Get in touch with Paving New Paths. They have had the same issues. PS nice meeting you both last month on top of Wolf Creek Pass.
Hernandez Patricia Jones Anthony Harris Kimberly
Me: Alright, belt replacement. No problem, I've replaced all kinds of belts. Also me, an hour later: [Insert swearing in multiple languages] Not at all pro tip: The motor casing is strong AF. It is steel. If you are VERY CAREFUL, with a hardy screwdriver with the belt on it, you can use the holes in the front of the motor as leverage. You want to do this slowly and with control (two hands: one on the handle, one on the shaft), you don't want to slip; this can damage the motor inside, you, and/or the drum. You might need to turn the belt numerous times using these holes to stretch it further, but eventually you'll be able to get the belt to the motor shaft and slide it down the screwdriver and into place. I am a 100lb woman. If I can do it, you can too (probably). Overall, it took me two hours. That includes taking apart the dryer for access, foot-stretching the belt, several short breaks, trying a different method, which turned out to be completely ineffective, and returning here and to the wider interwebs for any tips. Were I to do it again, I'd say it'd take under an hour.
We are so impressed and proud of you!! Let us know when you are ready for a real challenge.... See our other video for replacing the washer seal gasket thing.... That thing was brutal AF. ;) LMFAO
@@RouteDownFam I think I've seen that video. And I think that's when I decided it can just stay stained. XD
I've got a slightly different dryer but seems to be the same concept. Thanks for creating this content.
What a bummer 😕 be safe traveling back to Indiana

@@MrRod632 I think you’re thinking of Brinkley. Right?
That definitely is looking like you’re still moving. So sorry guys. We are afraid to move ours but probably should so we can really see how it’s going to hold. 😢
100% do the test!! ❤
So sorry to hear!
Aye, yai, yai. 😮💨
Grand designs is complete junk!!
I think Lippert is the main issue here it's not the first time I've heard of a Lippert frame failing. It wasn't long ago that I heard of the tongues breaking on the bumper tow units.
Welcome to the Runined Vacation (RV) life. They will talk your ear off with no results
I am considering a momentum 351ms. Please tell me what year your rig is? Thanks
Please whatever you do, don't do it. These steel frames have been compromised and too many people from our site alone have had to return for multiple repairs. Today, they are still avoiding their own customer's problems. As the site owner of Grand Design RV Major Issues, I am talking with our members throughout the day nd this honestly is getting worse and worse. See the new article/video from "Hunterbrook Media" (Google search) on this.
Find a full season park down south lease the lot and sell it as a “Non Mover” after it is repaired.
Mandy, you did an awesome job!
We used you video today to replace ours, thank you!
@@stephaniep456 Awesome!! Glad you were able to get some value from it!
masons are retards. It's called freemasonry because they found the old world building there already, and the masons just repurposed them into capital buildings, libraries, insane asylums, churches and cathedrals
Grand Design is WAY overrated
It was so nice being back in our home too. We picked up our June 5th I think. Moving our stuff back in, I fell backwards off our steps and broke both bones in my wrist. It has been rough. But still nice to have our home back.
Holy 😮 !! That’s awful!! Hope you heal up ok. Sorry that happened to you
@@RouteDownFam Thank you!
Your experience sounds positive and we are very happy for you both! We are waiting for the day that we can pick ours up. This is the 6th repair related to the frame flex and we hope this ends the year long saga and frustration for us and that we feel safe towing our Momentum. We look forward to following your progress after the repair!
Thank you & fingers crossed that this will finally be it for y’all!! 🤞🏽
We bought our 2016 Momentum new . Have traveled about 40,000 miles with no frame flex or any other major defects. Not sure but I think maybe since Winnebago took over GD the quality took a dive . I feel so bad for all the terrible, sad stories where families lives have been devastated because of company greed . I will never buy another newer RV . Shame on the RV industry . Whatever happened to proudly made in America . China would do a better job
I would be interested in how they fixed the i-beam and the rest of the frame issues.
In short… 1) Torch to orange. 2) Some hydraulic machine bending back into position until it cools. 3) weld reinforcements 4) pray 🙏
To answer your question …. They have done nothing…..my 2020 momentum 397 has issues they have been trying to fix since May 2021… frame fix side walls not attached …. Horrible engineering and build quality …… Run from them …. Plus they are de valued on the used market
Thanks for the update. About to jump into this process. Regarding 12v lighting flickering, have you taken a volt meter to any one of them to see if the current is flickering? Or plugin any 12 v LED light (let it hang) and see of that light flickers. Good luck.
About to begin the process now! Good luck on your side as well!
Glad to hear things are looking up for you. There are some really excellent folks in the FSC that, unfortunately, get overshadowed by those that are not so much and the headache and wasted time with the runaround that just sets a negative vibe... Here's a couple of things you can do to protect yourself from the finger pointing. Cameras. We have security cameras inside that run 24/7 with a month of storage before recycling. We havr external cameras too that I hang when stationary. Also have a rear-facing dash cam in the back window that that wakes and records with motion and has plenty of storage. Additionally, our 5er is registered in a State requiring yearly inspection by an State-certified inspection agency. The one I use is a heavy truck and trailer facility that also builds trailers. Their complete focus is on the chassis, running gear, and hitch, and it's an irrefutable document. They even check the axle alignment as well as axle alignment-to-hitch. Even if you don't have domicile in a State mandating trailer inspection, you can get this done yourselves regularly and have the documentation.
I have had a good experience with Grand Design on our wall replacement, they went out of their way to fix things not associated with the wall, replaced the TPO on the roof, replaced the hardware on the slide out, now with that being said, it took me a year to get the right person in the mix, I have to give Valerie in service a plug, she was great to work with, the first two I felt with, not so much, I am now having a problem with the main a/c and awing and light, now taking it to a dealer for repair.
Thanks for sharing.. Nice to see GD trying to up their game. They have to!!

Stop and take a deep breath. Things will be alright in the long run with life. Go see a lawyer, which there is probably someone by now doing quite a few of these lawsuits now, and see what they say you should be doing.
You don’t even show how you put the belt on. The rest is easy. 15 min video of talk. Garbage
Literally everyone else enjoyed it. I’m watching it again now for fun. Thanks for the feedback & engagement with the video. 🎉
Who hurt you
Grand Design’s prognosis: maybe it will scab over and heal up.
I have a picture of my 2021 momentum toy hauler when it was sitting on the dealers lot. The front hydraulic jacks are not straight. Both are outward. So, that story of you must have dropped it is not true. At least on my trailer.
You need to change your format. Watching two people talk for 20 mins doesn’t cut it on UA-cam now-a-days.
I would definitely work to find a competent lawyer I believe in the end you will need it. Further, I am sure you are aware that many RV dealers are not willing to take these units in as a trade in for another RV. This alone raises the need for a lawyer and the lemon law action.
Sold my GD 5th Wheel early this March. Once I saw videos of lag bolts missing and much more I knew the value of it was dropping . Had an issue second trip out with it last year with a reigerator moving forward on travel day. Had to rachet strap it to hold it in place on way home. Customer service really did care, except take it to your dealer. Yet they had no solution why is was design with that flaw and no way to secure it properly in soft wood on each side. When I let others know on the Grand Design forum, I was banned. Sold the camper by then anyways.
My 2022 Keystone Alpine 3790FK frame failed in only 5 months. Both 12" I-beams bent at the axles over 6". It was so bad I could no longer tow it. I had to abandon it in Illinois. Keystone refused to honor the warranty claiming that it had to be my fault. They claimed that I had to have been hit. There was no outside body damage, so they then claimed that I had to have been hit at axle level. I lost over $15k. Now I have an Alliance Paradigm 340RL.
I didn’t read all comments, but it is no surprise that a major corporation will angle to assign blame elsewhere. That is typical corporate loss management techniques. Unfortunately, on an individual basis, cannot be proven either way, and an arbitrator or even a court just needs a hint of doubt... That said, you just have to stand your ground and be firm but not obnoxious IMO. Traveled this road well before you. Do NOT get me wrong, no defense for GD or Lippert here. Im very critical because I have been through this before this spotlighting. There are some really good folks at GD, but also some that are not and they are not handling any of this with the consumer first. Dropping a 5er... Well, happens all the time, and I have seen it more since the pandemic boom and huge influx into the RV subculture after it was mainstreamed. Many miss the step of locking the jaws and not doing a tug test! I have been at dealers and at the FSC where a unit being towed by the fork truck hops the ball and lands hard on the front gear. Heck, I saw a unit drop and skid a little more than 20 feet on its front gear just 3 weeks ago while picking up parts from a dealer - brand new unit too. Bet not in any of those cases was it revealed that it happened. I have also watched those inexperienced with the articulation of tow vehicle-to-camper bury a front jack, drag the rear jacks or hitch, and even rip open the rear wall. Hate to say it, but I know a very experienced RVing couple that forgot to raise the manual extension on their curbside front gear two years ago and it caught a speed bump at just 10mph and totaled the coach because it did truly bend the frame rail. It's all possible, but as I commented on your last video, my opinion is that your frame rail tweak came about from the whole of your coach's problem. Again, I think you're getting some runaround, and it sounds to me like you had this misfortune of meeting Mel Williams. If that is who you got the different attitude from, it would explain it right there. He's supposed to be retiring, and you should just go directly around him in any and EVERY event! Being an actual licensed and practicing engineer, I have a different perspective. It's really no big deal to bring the frame rail back to vertical and brace it. I had a very similar problem repaired. Regardless, Lippert will actually measure. They visually read measuring tapes and compare by eye string and laser lines, but they don't just eyeball it and say "close enough". Again, speaking from experience. Here is my reality, I have had as severe and more problems with my GD. Mine is a pre-pandemic build too. I personally rebuilt and reinforced the suspension after is failed early on and recovered my costs as much as possible. The FSC, SRT, and Lippert mobile did most of the major repairs after that and haven't had reoccurence from those. Lippert covered frame repairs at the specialty shop of my choosing and all to my satisfaction. No issue in the past two years and >20k miles. That said, just did a major self repairs of the kitchen slide because of the weight causing the rollers to wear through the slide bottom. Just repaired another cold weld on the Lippert frame (I am a certifed welder, welding engineer, and instructor), and am repairing more cabinetry that's come apart. Point being, a modern RV has as much maintenance and repair as both a sticks n bricks and vehicle combined! I have had more than a dozen RVs before this one, and none had issues like today's have.
I dunno. I believe folks are giving you the runaround. I speak from GD ownership experience and having been out to the FSC 3x. Your Mo has a drop frame. The frame design does not have a sufficient cross member at the front jacks, what we structural engineers refer to as a diaphragm. At the back end of the drop frame, the assembly is very stiff. At the front jacks, it is not. An owner can actually twist the frame rail when there's a malfunction on one of the jacks causing uneven lift or a jack slips. It does happen. The rails are very lightweight and do not have a lot of strength in the horizontal-axis so they can twist pretty easily. Where you want to be concerned is if there is a bend in the vertical axis, which is critical to support. The twist in the horizontal axis can readily be corrected and reinforced with a proper diaphragm. Because of the issues with your deck, there should be no surprise to GD or Lippert you have had frame rail movement given the nose weight, capability of the jacks, and a frame and house no longer functioning as a unitized structure, which the Lippert frames absolute require.
25 years of camping with my fifth wheel and have never dropped it. And yes I’m talking about a 1999 rig that’s still going strong. Carri Lite 528RK
Unfortunately your rig will never be back to when you first got it. Once a frame is bent it's always going to be diminished from all the people I've spoken with. It almost has to have a full frame replacement. You may want to look into selling private party to someone looking to part out the unit or keep it parked in one spot.
Lawyer up!
Watch HBRV Podcast for a review of their 5 year warranty. It’s not good, as you’d expect. Wingman Nation provides contact, background information, and interviews to an excellent Lemon Law Attorney. Buy back precedent has been set by other UA-cam RV influencers in your situation, and I’ll try and find this one guy’s UA-cam site for you where they bought back his unit. But in general, as the Owner of a forensic and structural engineering firm, your problems are caused by improper structural engineering design of the house and frame, improper design of fabrication of the connection between house and frame. And, perhaps, but probably less, some material quality problems with some of the the structural steel components. With all due respect, discussions of how your travels, travel intentions, and family atmospheres have been adversely impacted, are just noise in the discussions with Grand Designs and just get in the way, my opinion. You just want to be made whole. And you’ll never know why the unit failed as it’s all too complicated and intertwined. GD will eventually know, but not you or us until lawsuits are underway and the info is made public. Suggestions?? Let them fix it (sounds like they’re going above and beyond) and cautiously drive it knowing selling is bad, or selling as a non traveling, permanent set unit. Or enter into buy back discussions, which probably should have happened before they invested repair time and dollars. Or engage an attorney, like Wingman Nation’s recommended guy, and start that route. I’ve been following this for a long time. As I long time RV’er I empathize with your journey here. Good luck and I certainly hope you are made whole in your plight for resolution.
I really hope that after all this, you can have a safe towable rig that you can enjoy going forward. Fingers crossed for you.
They modified the wall plates that weakens the plate... Voids warrenties and no engineering company is going to allow that... Visually comfirming elengnment is not industry standard... They make levels and measuring tools for this because human eyes can be faulty... This should all have been fixed under warranty...
Also, you might reach out to Liz Amazing. She seems to be knocking down a few doors. There should be a class action lawsuit filed against Lippert for sure.
There is one but still in the investigation phase and getting plenty of evidence.
