Sleazy's Garage

Amateur automotive UA-cam videos, restoration, maintenance, DIY, how-to's, and casual garage idiocy. Hit me up if I screwed something up!
I'm currently rebuilding, restoring and hopefully Coyote swapping a 1989 Mustang GT fox body. It was my high school heart-car and I let it sit in my parent's garage for 18 years before finally towing it to my house and starting the restoration process.
I also regularly work on a 2003 Mustang, a 2006 Mustang GT, a 2019 Ford F-150, and a 2016 Ford Edge.

Spooky Scary Jack-o-Lantern Toolbox Build! Happy Garage-o-ween!

This year we're taking a toolbox and turning it into a spooky scary jack-o-lantern! Hopefully it will clean up my workbench a bit, but let's be realistic, it's too far gone.

Will my coyote swap's fuel pump deliver? Lets test this fuel pump and make sure we have enough pressure to fire up the coyote. We went with a 340lph aeromotive fuel pump and adjustable regulator setup with 6AN feed and return lines. It's time to fill up the tank for the first time in over 20 years and send some juice to the relay to see if we can make some pressure. This series is documentation...

Excellent job on the toolbox Brother! I love it! 👊🏾
Thanks bro! Should be slightly helpful. 🎃✌️
Hahaha head gasket milkshakes, worst thing you ever want to see coming out of the oil pan!!!
Indeed! Lol
Nice job, Sleazy! Are you by chance being "Skip" for Halloween? "
Thanks bud! LOL is that a The Burbs reference? 🤣 I should've had my diresta ice pick in the frame, argh!
@@SleazysGarage absolutely. One too many lemon phosphates? That's my favorite movie of all time. It's constantly in my "quote que". LOL
@89G love it, we just re-watched it about three weeks ago 😂
Is this your first time working with a 4valve ford mustang...? I made a lot of these mistakes too when I first bought mine 20yrs ago lol! I'm about swap the engine again, this time to a gen 2 coyote. I prefer to use a pitbull motorcycle lift and raise it up from underneath with the k member, transmission, headers, etc. all installed already as one unit.
It is! Yeah, I went into this knowing that lifting it up into the car is the best bet but decided just to drop it in from the top. I still have the clutch and bellhousing to put on and there's not a lot of room, as I'm sure you know. So there's always a chance I'll have to drop it out to get it all installed. I hope not tho. Thanks, I'll check out that lift!
@@SleazysGarage in the state you have it, the k-member is just a few bolts. You can roll the motorcycle/atv lift right up under it, lower everything down, put the trans on, and just raise it right back up…
Right off it appears like a press that someone else had purchased then turned then sold again.without courteous reboxing by the seller.
For sure, it was a miracle that all the hardware made it. Definitely one of the worst packaged tools I've ever purchased. Amazon-life tho 😅
Thank you so much for the shoutout Brother! Appreciate you!!🙏🏾👊🏾 I swear I’ve never paid much attention to the differences in brake fluid! Thank you for that valuable info! 💯 Awesome video!!
Thank you bro! I love the shirt and always appreciate your feedback and comments! 🙌🤘
If it makes you feel any better...I haven't run any brake lines on my car yet....and I wasn't planning on pulling the engine again to do that. Maybe I'll have to reconsider my thinking.
😅 It's definitely tight in that corner but I think it could be done with the engine in place. Especially if the hoses go in in the correct order (whatever that may be). If you have a friend with small hands maybe bribe them with a pizza or something lol
Not sure if it makes a difference but I did a hydroboost conversion on my fox and when I was reading the directions it said not to fill your power steering reservoir until you bleed your brakes first. Also if you got all new stainless steel brake lines they are a pain in the butt to get fully seated without every joint leaking. I’ve had the same issue on mine. I feel your pain 🤦♂️
Ah, thank you, yes this does make a difference! Yep they're all new stainless lines. Ironically the flares that I made in that union on the back didn't leak, I was so sure they would. I'm pretty sure I even cracked one slightly. Thanks bud!
Like Your content and You are correct You get what You're budget will al low there are alternative brands available including Professional units . The important thing is to make sure that it will meet all requirements for a budget friendly price ! 🇺🇸🇵🇷🦊👍
Thank you my friend! This is the truth. Always appreciate your feedback!
I wish you were closer.... I'd let you borrow my Motive power bleeder. It works so good!
I'll check that one out. The biggest problem i have with this unit is that due to the size of the vacuum nozzle thingy, i couldn't put the wrench on first and then the nozzle and close the bleeder while still under vacuum. So I'm sure air is able to backup into it before I could get the bleeders closed. I tried it a few times but edited all of that out. I'll revisit it when the hydroboost lines go in.
Thanks for the brake fluid info! I'm always worried about the whole brake fluid on paint issues too! Looking forward to seeing you put the t56 in the car. I've been toying with putting one in my 86 since I really don't drag race it like I did years ago...
Hey Todd! Nice to see you check in!
Thanks bud! I hear the silicone stuff doesn't remove paint, and tbh my concerns about moisture getting into the lines and causing corrosion are likely overblown. My FIL swears by it and has never had any problems. Which transmission do you have in the 86 right now, T5?
Great content and You learn from Your Experience always double check Your work ! Suggest using a paint marker as You tighten any thing that's critical for Safety ! Thanks for the update . 🇺🇸🇵🇷🦊👍
Thank you my friend! Now that is a fantastic idea, I just bought a pack of paint markers too. I will definitely do this in the future. Thanks again!
Good stuff, Sleazy. Have you tried brake cleaner on that damned wrecking yard paint marker? I absolutely hate that crap.
Thank you sir! No I haven't, I was going to try a magic eraser next but I already have a case of brake cleaner I can try first. I'll give it a whirl, thanks!
I dislike bleeding brakes, maybe it’s because of my experience using a motul bleeder that didn’t have a good seal with my previous car’s reservoir. Neat idea with using a compressor though. Coming along!!
Yeah bud! 1 out of 3 pedals done, 2nd one just needs to be bolted and plugged in. The third's gonna need like $5k before it'll work though 😅
@@SleazysGarage should just go with automatic trans!! jk jk
Super Fly Update. 😜 I hate bleeding new brake systems. I did this after air installed the Brembo’s up front and cobra disk conversion in the back. I had to keep tightening the Brembo nipples to where I thought they would strip. It kept leaking until the 4th time I tightened them. Ruined my paint job on the calipers.
Thanks bud! Ugh that sounds annoying, but the brembos look fantastic! I'm sort of going through the same thing with my oil pan plug. Really not comfortable tightening it anymore but it keeps leaking. I need to replace it with an actual bolt with a shoulder I can put a gasket on.
Great video
Thank you my friend! When are we getting a McLaren update vid?
@@SleazysGarage to be honest I don’t think until next year
What's up BSG? How you fairing Buddy? Good to see you.
@@bonezshakergarage ah gotcha, hope you're doing well!
Nice shirt brother! That’s interesting, I never paid much attention to the differences in brake fluid, Ive also neglected to close the master cylinder cap in the past 😂 so Im sure I got some moisture in mine. You got a really cool bleeder!
Hell yeah, fits great! Yep moisture happens, we can always brake flush though! I think the bleeders from HF, my FIL gave me a tip to push vaseline around the bleeder screws to pull a tighter vacuum but I didn't do it in this vid.
Luis!! Nice to see you, sir!
no duh
Some folks thought it locked it on, just trying to help 🤷♂️
So excited for you, man!!!!! Getting me amped for my own build! I don't think I'm too far away from a first fire!
Thanks bro! Can't wait to see yours fire up!
Storage bins for all the hardware pieces. I seen the same thread size tool on Amazon too. It’s in my saved shopping list. You’re at the hard point trying to figure out where to put everything. I redone so much stuff on mine before I finally decided on what I have now. Heck, I may change more. You never know. 😂 👊😎✌️
Yeah man they're never really _done_ are they? 😅 Always something else to re-do. Thanks bud, definitely going to look into some storage bins!
I hope your diff and the whole braking system stays looking good even after you drive it 🫡! You’re focusing on the smaller details now, that’s awesome, I do feel that frustration sometimes too, about having to undo a bunch of stuff to fix something 😂. It’s coming along great bro!
Thanks bro! Same here. Yep, sometimes you have to do it twice to do it right. That's hot roddin for ya 😭😂
nice looking setup so far. must be fun to have a blank canvas to work off of.
Good work Bro! I like the fact that you show everything...Good and the bad... makes it more realistic! The fluffy dog did help with the motion sickness..😁
Thanks brother, always appreciate your comments! Yeah this was a bit of a ride on the struggle-bus. There's probably gonna be a few more like this at some point, but at least I can try filling the brake lines now. Hopefully with no leaks but who am I kidding? 🤞😅
Storage bins for the hardware, my friend. Harbor freight, Summit, Jegs, Amazon, Gladiator works, and a label maker will only make your organization that much cleaner and neater.
Great ideas. I definitely need a label maker. Thank you!
Just ordered the same positioner tool. It's currently 10% off, will let you know how it goes...
To make your life easy if you take the upper heater box mount off and the two screws on the bottom you can remove the entire blower motor assembly from the car. This will make it easy to get to the back side of the firewall and you don't need to remove the entire heater box
I was considering that but I had tried to also squeeze it through from the engine side just to see if it was possible and had a bit of trouble. Tbf though I was sandbagging it a bit to avoid ruining the paint. Do you know if that big connector can/is supposed to be able to fit through that ECU port?
@@SleazysGarage you can also try the hole on the drivers side that was for cruse control.
Good hell.... UPR Products, what a major fail. Wasn't it their battery box that gave you issues too?
Yep! Sliced my finger on it. I need to make better purchasing decisions. 😅
Any issues with heat cracking the bondo?
Not yet, but I just got the engine running last month and only for a few seconds at a clip. No cracking from natural expansion and contraction in the meantime though. I have the feeling I'm gonna hit one bump and all the paint and bondo will crack off lol 😂
Great work and progress! Thanks for sharing the build! Hope to see you next year at foxtoberfest!!
Thanks bro! Yeah I really hope so, that'd be amazing. You gonna have yours there too?
@@SleazysGarage I won’t have my coyote finished but I’ll be in my other Foxbody 2.3L 😄
WE DID IT. COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT US.
Great job brother! 🙌🍾✌️
Yeah buddy! 😎😎💯
🙌🍾✌️
Awesome! Congratulations on your 100th episode. I know you were probably anxious/nervous. As I was. Congratulations on firing it up 👊😎✌️
You know it, straight rattle hands 😂 Thanks bud! It's been a long road and I'm not even sure if I'm halfway done.
Looks like You're well on Your way to getting it back on the road . Just remember just make sure You are happy with the results of all Your hard work . Can't wait for the final results ! Best Wishes and Best of Luck. 🇺🇸🇵🇷🦊👍
Thank you my friend, definitely! There's going to be some backtracking on the wiring obviously, and I need to give the engine a good detailing, but at least we know it works now! I have all winter for resto stuff. ✌️
HELL YEAH 🎊 💪🏾💯🔥
🍾🙌✌️
You dont need to run Vacuum to the fuel pump regulator in my gen3 its capped off as long as motor sees the fuel pressure its not like the stock 5.0. Also the starter request should go to the coyote starter off control pack. Unless my Gen3 10r80 control pack is different. I have a lot of really good info on my page. Good job man
Ah that's good to know, thank you! I was going to wait until I had coolant and I could idle the motor to see if there was a difference in fuel pressure so I was just going by the docs. I'll make a note of that. The docs for the PCM say it's optional to go through it for the starter but if you do there is an alternative clutch neutral safety circuit. They also gave me a sensor for the clutch but it doesn't fit the harness. I'd imagine for an auto it's probably way more important to ensure it's in neutral/park before starting. Thanks for commenting, I'm going to check out your page!
Atta boy! Your dog and Mrs. Sleazy brought you some good luck!! Showed up just in time. It sounds wonderful, my friend!
Thanks bud, they sure did! Gopro definitely didn't do it justice but it still manages to sound pretty good. Can't wait to get a transmission behind it.
Congrats my Brother!!!🎉🍾🥳 That’s so awesome!! Wait what…Low cut halter top and steak and Scotch!! 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks bro! Yeah my dad's a riot, he gets even funnier after a scotch or two. The biggest shame in time lapsing our time in the garage was missing all of his hilarious commentary.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Big milestone in a longggg project, congrats! Now 10,000 little things to tidy it all up lol
lol ain't that the truth! starting with taking all this wiring back out 😅
Ooh yeah, we did it! She's awake and she's cranky (and I don't mean Mrs. Sleazy! [she gave me this joke lol 😂]) Oil pressure was fantastic, almost alarmingly so but I hear that's normal for these engines at first start. No bumps, no rattles, and smooth at idle. Really rich of course because we didn't put O2 sensors in. Thank you again everyone for your support, this is another gigantic milestone! 🙌😎✌
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Hey mate. I’ve been looking at those tables. Do you think with a bit of modification it would be heavy enough to hole a small argon bottle at one end? Haven’t got room for a table and a welding trolly so thinking of combining the 2, might work lol
How small of a tank? I have a small argon bottle that I'm sure could hang off the side without a problem. There's a lot of room underneath it too, if that's something you'd consider. I have a car door on mine right now or id test it. If you have dimensions I can measure it for underneath?
OMGGGGGGGGGGG CLIFFHANGER!!!!! START HER UPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Fr fr what's this guy waiting for!
Excited for ya! Did you piece together the fuel system or is that the kit from LMR?
Thanks bud, yep this is the LMR fuel kit from their coyote swap section. Seems good enough for na but not sure about boost with the single pump and 6AN feed. What fuel system did or are you going to do for yours?
I got the same one!
Awesome video! I really like how you are taking your time and documenting the process! Literally if someone was doing that swap they could just look back at your videos to see how it is done! You are really really close! 100th episode... That is great timing Brother!
Thanks bro! Next video should be pretty loud! 🙌
Great update. Can’t wait to hear it come alive. You got this! I like the vid editing with your outtakes and last minute cut for suspense😂.
Thanks bud! Yeah that's always my favorite part. 😂😂
Very close! Happy cheesy squirrel day! 👊😎✌️
Happy cheese squirrel day to you as well sir! 😂✌️
Dude.... you're so close!! Can't wait to hear it roar.
Yep! I wish I had a better way of capturing audio than the GoPro... 😭 Thanks for watching as always!
Getting closer! Love it! I feel like you and I are at similar points in our builds!
Yep, thank you! Please let me know if I screw anything up! Can't wait to see yours fire up too!
Looks good to me, man! There's usually more than one way that works. Do what works for you. I ended up going with a Holley system for my car.
Big mile stone reached today. Awesome
Thank you brother, next ep is another huge milestone!
