Let's Talk About Decks! Newest Additions

Hey everyone! This is a video about a lot of the new decks that have come in for me. At the time of filming this, I knew there would be at least 1 more coming (which has come now) but I also preordered a deck I thought would be forever OOP since filming this, so you will also eventually see that one on my channel. How to handle tarot cards when they're the literal worst
Переглядів 304День тому
This is a topic I feel is necessary given recent events for me. Sometimes tarot isn't trying to be your friend. It's warning you of the literal worst. But if it IS a warning, then you can do what you need to in order to feel better.

The Winding Path Tarot Spread: an expansion of a well-loved classic

Hi 👋🏼 enjoyed your video very much🤩 and I love this beautiful deck! Thank you ☺️
The stone looks like sodalite. DEEEEEffffinitely interested in getting this deck! *keeps tab open*
@@-NiamhWitch- I definitely recommend the zine that's on her website. I bought it after this video, and it's only $5. It's got some nice additional info, especially for the minors.
I have the first edition was tempted to buy the 2nd 💛
@@chelle1256 Is it much different than the 1st? Or pretty close?
@CrescentDreamsTarot 2 cards have changed. I can't remember maybe the emperor and empress, but don't quote me.
I’m so happy to have this deck and I enjoyed your walk through! I’m not a fan of pip decks so I was worried about Botan. But, I bought the zine a long time ago (since I didn’t think I’d ever have this deck at least I could enjoy the illustrations), and the explanations makes this deck completely meaningful, even the pips. She’s written stories (based on traditional myth) for each suit that weave together to create a lovely narrative for the entire deck. The pips each represent a portion of the story. So when I see a pip it’s not just a few items to me, I see the story behind it. I’m so grateful she reprinted this deck! It is one that I will always treasure.
Yay, glad you got a hold of it! After this video I did in fact purchase the zine, and 100% agree that it helps deepen the knowledge of this deck.
I was wondering if you bought this 😂 Mine came Friday.
@@simonejackson6196 I diiiid lol, it's been one of my unicorns for so long. I am seriously in need of doing a video where I chat about all the decks I thought I'd never get my hands on.
@@CrescentDreamsTarot I haven’t finished watching your video, but the lack of information on what’s depicted in the cards was a bit of a bummer. I found if you go back to her website and purchase the $5 digital zine, it has a little more information about the cards and her choices. I just downloaded it.
@@simonejackson6196 After filming this I bought the zine and it was for sure enlightening and made more sense.
I think Addi said she’s updated 7 cards in this edition but I’m not sure which ones they are. I haven’t read through everything yet.
Ahhh this was super cool to watch!! Those album cases look so satisfying. I'm imagining them click-clacking together 😋
Peculiar Pathways looks BEAUTIFUL! And that guidebook looks so thorough 😮 I reread the PJO series and the sequel series this year! I even noted down plot summaries in my commonplace book, 'cause I wanted to remember which deities & creatures they met and what adventures they all had. I never attended summer camps, but they would've been so fun for me to read about & imagine as a kid. I half want to read the Trials of Apollo series, but I'm enjoying other fantasy books for now. I've been reading other fantasy series from Rick Riordan's imprint this year! I read the Aru Shah series (centers around retellings of Hindu mythology, featuring middle school Indian girls), and Sal & Gabi duology (Cuban characters). Middle school fantasy is FUN to read I love it
I honestly love it too! Overall PJO was fun, just those timeline plot holes that had me pause lol. But I do love middle grade fiction a lot.
The cards kept showing me the tower and the death card and the three of swords. But mostly tower and death. I’d definitely say it was the largest tower moment of my life. I kept seeing it coming and I kept acting like I was seeing the negative. I thought I was doing a self fulfilling prophecy but it was more fate than anything now that I look back at it. That’s what for me into tarot. Those big readings that kept telling me the same thing almost every reading month after month it was like a slow countdown and in the back of my mind I knew it. Thanks for this video, it’s amazing,❤
Man, sometimes the cards are brutal, but I'm glad you got through the rough period. I've definitely been there before.
Full disclosure: the How to Deal tarot has been passed over by me because the title and how it *seems* to appear. It would normally not be my style or something I'd be interested in. However, after seeing it showcased here, the artwork is definitely up my alley. Thank you for sharing! I would have continued to miss out.
how to deal tarot is still in print
@@anonymousanonymous850 Thank you for the correction, I thought only the book was.
Thanks loads for sharing!!! I really enjoy watching your videos!
Thanks for sharing! The art in the Cosmic Wisdom Tarot is stunning! 💖 The use of color is wonderful, and I really like the various symbols I glimpsed from the cards you showed. I might have to pick it up one day. I considered preordering the Slow Tarot when it was made available last November, but there are a few cards in it that I don't think I can really get along with, so I didn't in the end. It was a bit difficult to say no to because the art is beautiful, and the Knight of Cups in the deck is one of my most favorite Knight of Cups ever. (The Knight of Cups & Queen of Wands are kind of my "significators" with the water/fire elemental combo, lol! Or at least those are the elements I use for the courts.) But I just printed out a polaroid of the Knight of Cups to keep tucked in my journal cover, and that lessened the temptation considerably. I may end up getting it one day, though, who knows! Regardless, it's always nice to see decks come back in print so that others can enjoy them. 💞 Lastly, I just want to say: After one bad experience, I'm now really particular about cardstock, too, so you're not alone! I also went out of my way to buy an indie copy of a mass market deck because I knew I wouldn't like the cardstock of the mass market version. (I bought it from the same Etsy store, too, haha!) If the deck isn't a good shuffling experience, I just can't be bothered-this goes for both indie and mass market decks. Thicker cardstock isn't always better, and I have medium-large hands! I'm not sure why 400gsm cardstock is needed when I have decks that are 350gsm (or less) and have held up wonderfully. (I don't have many decks-IMO, this is certainly subjective-so they all see a fair amount of use, and I'm a riffle & bridge shuffler, too!)
@@seasigh Thank you for watching, and glad I'm not the only one who is particular about cardstock!
Love the deck selection. I've watched Sonia's videos so many times and I don't think I knew she had an oracle deck. Looks like it might be a good pair to Mystic Mondays.
@@themoreintuitiveme Oooh I could see that! They're both brightly colored.
I had no idea The Slow Tarot was available, I'm off to get a copy now, thank you so much
@@JonSkyeTarot Yay, glad you have a chance to snatch it up!
Thanks loads for sharing this video with us; these and some other uncomfortable cards need to be explore better. I do agree that the more literal meanings of these cards are more prevalent in negative/disadvantageous positions in a spread, it's our responsibility as Tarot readers not only to explore said meanings, but also to speak out loud as they are, not sugarcoat your speech or your thinking, let our intuition tell us these negative events, not try to block these feelings and immediately go to toxic positivity, not everything is positive nor does it should be. When I read for my clients and these situations happen, I'm committed to be honest with them, but I do like to pull an extra card at the end of the Reading (usually from an Oracle deck) as an advantageous message for them to move forward. Are you comfortable with others creating a VR to this video? I'd love to participate in this message you're wanting to illuminate to others.
@@EddieinReadingland I am definitely fine with VRs but thank you for the insight! I do believe in seeing a light side out, so it's good that you pull oracle cards.
@@CrescentDreamsTarot Thanks loads! I feel that this needs to be out there.
That five of swords is DEFINITELY the coolest fn thing I didn’t know it was available again!
So many goodies! Thanks for sharing 💕
Writing to confirm here that the How to Deal Tarot by Marisa de la Pena came BACK mass market a few months ago! And also that the cardstock is honestly EXCELLENT. It riffle shuffles like a dream, feels buttery and smooth, not plasticky, not sticky, bendy and snappy and delicious!
Hello friend! Could you possibly share where we can find this re-release? ☺️
hi! what's the name of the etsy where you are finding these great decks, if you don't mind sharing?
@@ccoleman8017 Oh shoot, thank you for the reminder! I'm almost home, so I can add the link to this video's description in about 30 minutes.
Link is added!
@@CrescentDreamsTarot thank you so much! that is very helpful.
Loved this video, and sorry about your friend. Encountered this as well, and unless you journal or snap a pic of readings, it may go unnoticed, i.e. Chariot + Tower = car accident. I know Chariot doesn't literally mean a car, but if someone was trying to convey something important to you via the tarot about a vehicle, of course it would be the Chariot card. Also not to say that combo always means that, but it is very interesting. The other one that slaps me in the face is the Temperance card, akin to how you were describing the Devil card, in which case it's probably good to have two cards in the deck telling me to literally get my sh*t together.
Luckily I do have photo evidence of my readings, but yeah, some combinations are brutal.
When my father was in hospital last year, and (literally) in the process of dying, I kept pulling the Death card (with the Emperor or one of the Kings on its side). Ironically, when I used the Shadowscapes, a deck that depicts Death as a rebirth (a phoenix in very bright colors), that card didn't show up, it was the Judgment instead. I say "ironically" because when decks do this, when they twist the meanings in order not to scare people, in fact they use the Judgment's meaning (rebirth) instead of Death (ending of something). But Death doesn't disappear, you can't avoid it, the meanings are just flipped.
Very good video! Thank you!
I kept getting tower and 5 trees literally damaged my house adter a lightning and storm … so … ya
I LOVED this video! This is the kind of tarot tube content I want to see. 🙂
@@-NiamhWitch- Oh! Thank you for watching! I was a little afraid to post this one because I wasn't sure how people would respond, but so far it's positive so I'm pleasantly surprised.
I'm so so sorry for your loss. 😢
@@BohemianRoseTarot Hey, thanks! Again, I think I said in the video that I wasn't incredibly close with the individual, but had been at one point in time, so it sucked in that way.
Thanks for talking about this topic 🙌 I've wondered when it means these things more literally.
@@Nicole-zr1me It can be scary, but there's ways around it certainly.
May I make a VR to this video? This is such a great topic.
@@BohemianRoseTarot Oooh yes, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts!

Short & sweet! Love that "they could just be the best of bros" card. yes to more non-romantic lovers!
Thanks loads for showing us these Mini decks! You know, for someone who has small hands (me), I don't tend to go for these, hmmmm.
I love these! Of these, I think I like "End" the best. Yes, I do think that's a J.
@@-NiamhWitch- I'm in agreement that I think Ends will be the most successful. One day I'll definitely need to do a video where I rank them all.
"I didn't do much reading... I read three books." Me (who struggles to read just one book a month): 👁👄👁 😅😅😅 Kinda like that Journey tarot! I used the Morgan Greer in August too. It's a very good August deck, I totally agree!
Ooooh! Prisma Visions in a tin is what I'm using this week! September deck for me!
@@-NiamhWitch- LOL I do realize 3 books is more for some, just less for me 😂
Lammas is a great addition in the series I also just pull one of those cards, it’s enough
@@chaneldays I was really vibing with it. I also just got Imbolc, but probably won't be using until December or January.
Eeeks! That Sea Witch Tarot was... not great... Also, grief is such a subtle punch feeling, it's painful and it takes time to heal, my condolences.
@@EddieinReadingland Thank you for the kind words, and for watching!
That Peculiar Pathaways tarot is so beautiful. Too many bugs for me unfortunately (you already know I can’t do it😂) but still so very beautiful and wonderfully put together. I agree that Lennox hit that one out of the park.
@@RobynsReflections Those pesky bugs!! 😂 but yeah, it's a fun one.
I just love that you did CDs! Literally went and checked the very few ones that I do have to go and play them, and... We don't have a CD player, sigh. Thank the Gods for Spotify! Hahahahaha. I did mine on books, though.
@@EddieinReadingland Oh nice! Books are a great choice for a collection. Were they special editions of books?
@@CrescentDreamsTarot Some of them were, yes! I’m uncertain when the video will come up, it’s scheduled though, hahaha.
Nice! I still have all my CDs but none of the cases. I got rid of them all when I moved overseas and put all the CDs in two books which I haven’t opened in more than a decade! You are making me want to get it them out! This was fun. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the shoutout 🥰
@@RobynsReflections I miss CDs so much 😭 lol but thank you for watching! Your crystals were so cool by the way. I collect some, but not nearly enough.
Oh my gosh, I recognized almost all of those albums! You have such good taste. Also the deck choices were spot on!
@@Frakkyfire Thank you! My youth years had such good music lol, I miss it at times.
thanks for showing this deck and cards with great clarity! I finally ordered this and really looking forward to receiving it; can already see it as being a wonderfully intuitive, almost a scrying sort of deck, something I love to do to dive into when reading -- feels like this will be one of those decks I enjoy much more in-hand, once working with it, than seeing it in videos. Blessings!
With you on the This Might Hurt Tarot... indie rules, liminal 11 drools. 🤤
@@tamipie I've only used it a couple of times as of now, but how's your experience with the deck been? I find I'm still trying to get a sense of it.
@CrescentDreamsTarot I did a reading the other day for a real-life situation. You know, should they do a thing, it'll have a big impact, but not sure because of the money involved. It was truly one of the most on point readings. The people pictured on the cards seem to mirror the way the querant felt and even looked! She was surprised how connected she felt to cards like the 10/Swords and the Queen/Swords. I pull this deck for work readings and romantic readings. What's interesting is that if I have it on my table, people don't usually pick it over other decks (I think because it looks cartoony), but it really does read very well.
Your picks were SO. SPOT. ON. Especially Tildwick+VIVALAVIDA and Peculiar Pathways+PRETTY ODD. Have you ever listened to Nate Ruess's GRAND ROMANTIC? It's very baroque pop, which I think you might enjoy. If GRAND ROMANTIC doesn't scratch the itch, try DOG PROBLEMS by The Format. I've been trying to find American Idiot on vinyl because that album is ICONIC and I don't even LIKE Green Day like that.
@@RoaenHere I hadn't heard of those, but now I need to look them up 👀 glad to see the fellow music lovers turn out! I definitely recommend American Idiot. It was a modern rock opera that had such great storytelling.
What a beautiful spread. Thank you for sharing with us! I’m obsessed with the fact this was based on your poetry format and would def love to know more about that, if you ever wanted to share that. I am a poetry writer(I have weirdness around calling myself a poet) and also really enjoy using tarot as a writing tool, so this def piques my interest. The spread itself is really thoughtful, lovely and useful. I love this
@@SalemElectro7 Oooh thank you, and thank you for watching. I totally get you on poetry. It's something I don't consistently do and I don't have the greatest confidence in it, but creating a poetic form in college for a class was such a freeing experience.
