Appleton hare scramble Border Battle XC. 5-5-24 Vet B, 4th place. YZ250FX. This was a fast paced race. It was a ton of fun and I felt great on the bike for the first race of the year. A terrible start and a crash on lap 1 forced me to fight my way through the pack early.

Spring Creek MX hare scramble. Very tough race for me. I started great and was riding strong until I was stuck on a hill climb. Took so much energy to make it up that I couldn't ride very well the rest of the race. The battles in the beginning were great though! YZ250FX

I'm d23 as well and would like to get into hare scrambles and place well what would you recommend for that? any tips?
Start out in C class. Having fun should be your first priority, then worry about winning. Try to ride as much as possible to practice and work out to stay in shape, these races can be tough. If you like riding you will love racing.

luckyfoot2 also recommend 250 or 450?
250 four stroke or 125 two stroke. The 450s have so much power that you don't need in the woods. Get something that's light and handles well. 250 two stroke isn't a bad option either but they have a lot of power too.
I am an A class rider with some comments - In probably 60% of this video, you are riding like an A class rider, which surprised me a few minutes into watching it, I was like WHOA, he is starting to kick this track's ass after a rough start - but whenever you are into the bumpy stuff, it looks like one of those rodeo guys trying to stay on the bull for 8 seconds! - get a pro that is your weight and size to set your rebound, damping, compression etc.correctly - that front end doesn't need to be a buckin bronco! - fix that and avoid falling and running into trees (which you actually did surprisingly well) and you will win any C or B class race with ease, and you will be competitive in A class! - Also, the 250SX is a great bike, but not the ideal KTM model for this, it's really more of a straight MX or supercross bike, plenty of acceleration, which is nice. - Your riding seems best when there is a forest! - not so much when there are no trees, which is the opposite of most riders! - But overall, you definitely kicked ass like a pro in much of this video. Impressive.
carlosedwardos Well I got the SX only because it was over 1000 dollars cheaper than the XC and I got a pretty good deal on it, otherwise I would have gone with the offroad version. And yes my suspension was not set up correctly, I have been working with it though and it is much better.
