Jim Edwards Bits
United States
Приєднався 14 сер 2018
What Jim discovered was that tongue pressure, pain in the horse’s mouth along with inconsistencies in rider’s hands, will trigger an array of instinctive protection responses. When these instincts kick in, the horse stops thinking and starts reacting. Reacting to pain instead of relating to cues can make for a bad day’s ride, and over time creates bad habits that inhibit the horse’s natural athletic ability.
Jim has spent much of his life gaining an understanding of how a horse thinks. His dedication to improving communication and horsemanship has shaped his bits into what they are today. Many world champion reiners, cutters, and pleasure horse riders have trained and shown in Jim Edwards bits.
"I designed my bits strictly from the horse's point of view, with respect for their innate and instinctive response to pain and pressure. By considering only the horse's point of view, I developed a complete line for all stages of training in every discipline." - Jim

Who is Jim Edwards?
Переглядів 4,6 тис.5 років тому
In today's fast paced, high tech society there are fewer and fewer individuals that have grown up and experienced life the way Jim has. Here we learn about how growing up on a large cattle ranch in New Mexico, moving to Fort Worth, and trading has impacted his knowledge of a horse and training a horse. This in turn, was the foundation for his design of the custom bridle bits that JE Bits produc...
Differences Between a Timed vs. Judged Event
Переглядів 2,9 тис.5 років тому
Judges events are based off of correctness/precision, willingness, and fluidity. Hence, it requires a different bridle bit than the timed event. The timed event is based off the clock. Therefore, a bridle that accounts for inconsistencies in the riders hands during the heat of the battle aids in more efficient communication between the horse and rider. This more efficient the communication is b...
A Bit's Mouthpiece Design and its Effect
Переглядів 17 тис.5 років тому
Jim explains how he made his bridle to protect the horses mouth and how he came up with this design. We have to educate ourselves and ask the horse if the specific bridle bit fits them. Then, we have to learn the physical signs that they give us so that we can develop a positive relationship with our horse. Furthermore, Jim suggests trying the bridle on your shin to understand how severe the br...

He expands upon how this varies depending on discipline and what is going on with your horse. The J shank has the most lateral and the 6 1/2 inch slider has the most leverage. Is there a website where we could buy that same one on the video

Jim, what is the best way to order one of these bits?
does anyone know where you can find this rope gag? i cant find them anywhere
Although Mr. Edwards is an excellent bit maker and his theories are sound, this history of the western bit is not his forte. He has completely missed the Spanish connection to western riding, how it came to the U.S. and its purpose (working cattle). I understand he makes a great bit and I find no fault with his explanations of how the bits function.
Looking for a bit that heavy handed amateurs can use,and still hav control??
I will definitely purchase this bit How do I find it ? Every site I find your bits but this one is out of stock everywhere
I just found your channel and Ive watched three or four of your videos. You Sir, are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to horses and bits. I thoroughly enjoy absorbing your wisdom. Id love to sit down and just listen to you over a cup of coffee...

How do you adjust the mouthpiece?
Hello! Just from personal experience, I am not involved in the company, but the little black button that you see just below the ring slides up and down. It take a bit of pressure to move it and it’s pretty tight, however if you really grab it with your forefinger and thumb it will move. It adjusts well and holds in place also
@@abbylapano390 Why does someone appear they're, or not, having a good experience
I’ve got a couple of these bits I’m very happy with them. They have a great response every time.
All bits are cruel! Why are you showing an instrument of pain and damage to the horse and his mouth, as if it’s show-and-tell? It’s tiring to see old men like you in the horse world- cruel and careless!
That is true and false at the same time. Yes, bits can be cruel if put in the hands of a dumbass. No, if the person knows what they are doing. The fact that you call horsemanship show and tell shows that you forgot that horses formed this country. They were the backbone of all kinds of work. Also, this old man knows a hell of a lot more than you I am sure. The only thing careless around here is you speaking BS in an area of knowledge that you seem to lack. So please realize that bits are tools now weapons. Much like a rake, you can rake the leaves or beat someone with it. It is all up to the person who uses it. So please do me a favor and learn before you speak.
Hello Jim, I hope you're doing well. We're manufacturers and exporters of supreme quality Horse Bits. I have seen your website and most the products are purely our production. Please do visit our website. ww.jamkamtraders.com Regards,
A lot different than what I learned. The top part is the purchase. The bottom part is the shank. The side as a whole is the cheek. I don't recall a name for that middle ring. Everything else is the same.
