Bowhunting Massachusetts Public -- Doe Down in 20 -- Episode 2
I head out for a quick after work Bow hunt in Southeastern Massachusetts on an overlooked piece of Public Land. Hoping for a cruising Buck, based on great historical sign here. However, given the lack of knowledge of what bucks are there and living far away, I didn't pass an opportunity to take a large doe.

After Moving from the southern part of Massachusetts to the border of New Hampshire, I take advantage of my first day hunting in the new area. @@marvinprado1700 best advice I can give you as a new hunter would be to spend as much time in the woods as possible scouting. The more boots on the ground the better for your first few years. Don’t be afraid of bumping deer, you’ll learn something every time. Learn and understand how/where’s deer bed and use the wind. And lastly, one thing I wish I did when I started 20 years ago was to keep a hunting/scouting journal. That will help tremendously

    • @roamhunting9421
      @roamhunting9421 Рік тому

      I landed just shy of 8" on the brace height. Anything less than that did not feel right and I attribute that to the 20 degree limb pad angles of this riser. South's Apex riser and most ILF risers are not that much of an angle on the limb pad.

    • @roamhunting9421
      @roamhunting9421 Рік тому

      It varies depending on what arrow and how your set up will tune. What I’ve found typically works best for me is when you have an arrow nocked, looking from behind down the arrow, it’s pointed slightly outside of center. Center meaning the arrow is dead in line with string. You have flexibility to adjust as needed to get the best arrow flight but I’ve found this to be the most consistent for me.

      @@roamhunting9421that makes perfect sense! I shoot 2016 aluminums out of my recurves with 175 up front shooting 48-50 pounds depending on which bow but I’ve noticed it seems like ilf shooters always go to a 400 to 340 range spine I only draw about 26 inches but like to be around 48-50 pounds and I usually cut an arrow down to around 29 inches or so with most my set ups.

Both of us shooting a fixed craw get it 50% of the time so not sure where it’s coming from either. At times it’s a perfect flight so it may be a heel issue. Did you ever get it worked out?

    • @roamhunting9421

    do you use the same arrow every shot for the paper tune? if so, how can you know if its the bow or arrow?

    • @roamhunting9421
      @roamhunting9421 Рік тому

      Yes I would use the same arrow for every shot during paper tuning. There are multiple ways you can correct a paper tear with either the bow or the arrow. What I prefer to do in many instances is to set up the bow to factory specs and leave the rest set at the recommended center shot. Then see what the tear will show and you have the option on the arrow side to increase or decrease point weight or shorten the arrow. Both options with affect your tear. Besides changing the arrow, you can also change your tear by moving the rest, shimming cams, increasing or decreasing draw weight. Hope this helps

    • @roamhunting9421
      @roamhunting9421 Рік тому

      @@dirtlegchaser2424 if you are as short as possible on arrow length then you can only change point weight to affect the tear. Besides that, you will have to make adjustments on the bow side. I would focus on getting it as close to perfect as you can. if there's a tiny barre shaft tear, I wouldn't worry too much. A lot of times when you add the fletching weight on, you will get the arrow to react stiffer. So you can keep that in mind. Also, give the bareshafts some shots outside without paper to see how they are flying. Its easy to chase the tear alll day in paper
