I also provide a general overview of the Schwartz value theory in psychology as well as parasite stress theory from biology, which can help us to make sense of value changes in response to the pandemic. Thank you so much for this video. I have developed a questionnaire from 2 different studies for a totally different product category/segment. A lot of modifications had to be made, keeping in mind the product category and market segment. In this case, can I go for EFA, keeping in mind that I am attempting to develop a model for a particular (new) product category in terms of a particular market segment.

Hello, professor. Thank you for your video.😃 My question: How can I perform a strict invariance analysis to make the variances equal? I have tried typing "group.equal=c("loadings","intercepts","variances"))", but the console shows "Error in lav_options_set(opt): lavaan ERROR: unknown value for `group.equal' argument: ‘variances’". Thank you in advance~😆

There is one particularly useful result of these studies. It demonstrates two things. First, it supports the observation that there is a close association between right-wing authoritarianism and social conservatism. With high rates of parasite load or pathogen exposure, there is a corresponding increase of those two ideological personalities. Second, to reinforce this strong positive correlation, it helps explain why it happens. That is where parasite stress and the behavioral immune system come in. It's not merely a way of dismissing the political right. It explains the evolutionary reason for right-wing politics.

The "biological species" concept states that species are reproductively isolated entities. Critics who disagree that H. Neanderthalensis and H. Sapiens are two separate species can now cite supporting evidence form recent genetic research. This indicates that the two interbred about 55.000 years ago. We now know that from the same kind of genomic research that many other species of mammal interbreed, like the puma-leopard hybrid. The problem is not that species interbreed, but with the concept of "biological species". The reality is that in most cases mammals and birds species diverge from each other gradually. It may take millions of years for full reproductive isolation to develop, something that clearly had not yet occurred for H. Neanderthalensis and H. Sapiens. Both separated long enough to evolve distinctive skulls shapes, pelvises and ear bones. They can be regarded as different species, interbreeding or not. It is such an argument. How can we not see the connection. If you don't them, I assume the account Genisis story is correct, that man is a special creation and all is the result of culture. It's easy to see why the Social Sciences got in a twit. Too bad they didn't have the honesty of Wilson and analyze his position.

It would be interesting to further explore how different personalities change in their values. I'm high in openness, high in consciousness and low in agreeableness and not particularly concerned about dying from Covid and I've reacted to the pandemic in the way of wanting to gain more independent power, be more social, creating more art, exploring alternative incomes and focusing more on keeping rights and freedoms. Whereas someone I know who is high in consciousness, high in agreeableness, low in openness and worried about Covid is very pro restriction and following anything that is suggested if it's in relation to lowering virus spread. I wonder if it's the difference in threat perception that predicts what values are central or perhaps if personality is a stronger predictor of central values. What influences different personalities to have a high or low threat perception to self? and do different personalities lean towards different values despite having high or low threat perception to self?

    • @MarmaladeINFP

I'm high in openness, low in conscientiousness, and moderate in agreeableness. Combined with being healthy, I didn't have much personal concern about COVID19. But I got the first two vaccinations for the sake of my elderly parents. And I tended toward a more moderate response to the extremes on both sides, both of which seemed irrational and politicized.

From the beginning you are using modern Homo Sapiens as a reference. Totally wrong. What makes you think our more ape like ancestors were not sitting on the ground? Or that females didn’t make stone tools? What did they do when there were not enough males? My parents only had daughters. My mother’s parents only had one son. My dad’s parents had two boys but the eldest died before he was 7. I started working in my dad’s machine shop when I was 11. Did manual assembly, ran punch presses, ran the tool crib, used torque wrenches, made parts on a lathe, and all sorts of things “boys” do. During the world wars women had to do the jobs supposedly only men could do. This has always been how it is. Why do you think so many women are on production lines? In general, we have better fine motor skills than you. Fact. Men are now much stronger but do you think there was as much of a difference way back? Heck, the males of today probably don’t have the strength and stamina of females before civilization. My petite older sister used to beat the boys at arm wrestling in our grandparents small rural town. Must have been embarrassing since the only heavy lifting she did was doing her hair and putting on makeup. I was the tomboy and a bit bigger than her and she whooped my ass. That taught me that inherent muscle strength differs from person to person. Surviving was much more important. Cross training more likely than dividing by gender. Yes, males could through farther and hit harder. But if a female made better tools they likely gave her that job.

@0:20 - The tiny bird who began roosting in my roof-mounted heater box (long out of service) announced itself to me with a loud tweet. I answered the bird, with "Hi, little birdy." To make a very long story brief, when the bird first heard music on a TV commercial, it tweeted enthusiastically. I play music for it from You Tube, and it loved it all. We listened to music together for 7 months . It would listen intensely to the music, reacting to solos, crescendos, and quite often tweeting when the "payoff" part of a song arrived. When a song or piece of music began to fade away at the end, the bird would tweet, without fail, telling me the song was ending and to find another song. If I didn't play a song, it would prompt me to start playing, and it tried 2 different methods to do that. It would read my emotions. This little bird, with a brain the size of a pea, had the same emotions humans have, was interested in my emotions, and had curiosity and tried to make sense of what I was doing, as it listened all day to me in my house. It would tweet excitedly upon the 1st few bars of Beatles tunes. There was so much more to this bird, as far as listening to music, learning when I was fixing to leave the house, waiting for me to get settled in bed at night before it left the box to get food. It was waiting for me to get up in the morning and had a special tweet to get me up. It figured out my billiards practice after having listened to me practice pool for 4 months. I have recommendations to bird owners on how to listen to music with a bird. There are right ways and wrong ways. Such a complex and intelligent bird, with such a small brain.

@17:45 - Digestion requires more energy than we realize. Digestion has the highest priority for energy use in our bodies. My doctor told me, when my digestion stopped, ( and she had me on an I.V. in the hospital ) is that to stop digesting is to start dying. She would come to my bed and ask me if I farted because farting is a result of digestion. After a big meal, like a Thanksgiving feast, we usually stop physical activity ( becoming couch potatoes ), and go about the business of digesting a full belly of food. The energy required to digest a full stomach is not trivial. I know this because I fasted for 3 days and I felt weak, and resolved to walk to the store to buy food before I got weaker. Before I could get my shoes on, suddenly, I felt normal, full of my usual energy. What took place? After the 3rd morning on my fast, the body had no more food to digest and so it freed up energy for muscle activity. If you doubt this, fast for 3 days until your body no longer has to devote energy to digestion and experience, for yourself, the amount of energy the body uses for digestion. This is why a starving human has the energy to hunt for food after starving for a few days.
