    Okay, this is all kinds of wrong…why would you file your rakers before you did the teeth? You file the rakers after the teeth, with a depth gauge, which is measured off of tooth lenth… Use a vice, or keep the bar on and wedge it against a wall or corner…

    • @dlfuller2
      @dlfuller2 День тому

      I usually do the rakers before the cutters, so good point. As for your other advice, I don’t use any equipment (gauges, etc.) to sharpen except for files and an electric dremel (a lot nowadays). I’ve got my own style that works for me. It came through time and processing hundreds of cords of firewood, which I still do. Take a look at other videos on my channel. 👍👍 Thanks for commenting.

      Do you see my breathe? Do you see my jacket and beanie? Do you hear my voice, and my nose sniffing? It’s probably about -15 out when I’m shooting this video. That impacts one’s breathing. So there’s that 💪🤓

    right below the tip on the bottom where you touch your saw to logs, most wears out ,,, but I guess you just buy those logs off someone ??? but if you cut the trees as I did for years don't notch them and cut from the back half way and some of the larger ones will split 10 - 12 feet saves splitting ARE those ash???? it burns too hot for Tenn but it sure does store a long time I am a fat boy also but I am trying to lose weight too many beans???? Thank you. I worked on saws 37 years I did not look close at yours but I have an 026 wood saw that is the best stihl ever made it screams !!!

Sounds like you’ve got some years of experience under your belt and I could learn a thing or two from ya. Tennessee is beautiful 👌 I’ve been there once, to Franklin. I also know someone who lives in Cookeville. You must be southern TN for ash wood to be too hot for ya?? I thought it got pretty cold there, especially in the Appalachias??

      @@dlfuller2 I lived in the woods 2.5 years in the early 80s in Marion County Sequatchie a little town right above Jasper all I had to cut wood was a double-bitted axe.. it was colder back then ... Global warming is real we get hail almost every storm now ... Less UV rays filtered out creates faster and more complete evaporation of sea wathe causing higher thermal updrafts freezing more hailstones causing more rain and floods with stronger tradewinds locking high-pressure systems in place causing droughts ... It's complicated??? sort of ...But As being in the Bible belt with MANY reverse-engineered (backward People ) I also started studying the Bible right after I left the woods Rev 11:18 the B-Part tells us "and the time came for God to destroy those destroying the Earth" See I share what I believe everyone should know .. thank you ... @@dlfuller2 I've handled them before, but the general consensus in the self reliance and servival/bushcraft circles (witch I'm part of) there are a few starting with Grans, Whetterling, and the old which is hard to find is the Norlands Hudson Bay axes. If one works with either 3 of those you'll have any need for anything else. But in the end anything works if on a budget or that's all you have available providing it has a good tempered steal to it.
