    GM ☕️ from Toronto. I heard your DAC’s ..along with products from DCS…and I loved them ..but unfortunately..they exist in the aspirational realm 💵💵💵 I did get a new Denafrips Ares 12-1 DAC ..and am finally seeing /HEARING what all the hubbub is about. Great and informative video. Thank you.

    Let's see.................... You're links don't work. Your website has no suggested retail price. Your website has no "Buy Me" button. Your Dealer list gave me Audio Intervisual Design of Los Angeles, CA with EVERY manufacturer in the world except Weiss. So to heck with that. I'm not impressed. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊 Oh and PS, How un-saavy is it to produce a commercial then don't include a phone number?

    Is there’s DDC built into 204 which converts usb into I2S internally? Also is there any fuses or op amp upgrades available to further enhance the level of performance?

    • @weiss.engineering
      @weiss.engineering 2 місяці тому

      Yes, the USB interface section converts DSD64 or DSD128 to PCM. There aren't any upgrades available.

    Your DACs are highly regarded by audio enthusiasts, and these models will fit nicely into the more affordable market segment. Can't wait for a review of these and comparison to similarly priced DAC's. Personnally I like the fact that they are no-frills converters without DSP and other functions - like a small slice out of your studio quality converters.

    Streaming has a problem, most obvious when using software programs like Roon. This was recently brought home to me, a relatively new user of Roon. Listening to music around 10 at night there was a sudden interruption of electrical service. It lasted for a few hours. Once I'd contacted the electrical company and learned of the area outage I shut down my equipment and fired it up again the next morning. Only to discover that my Roon server would not connect to my Roon endpoints. It showed the file playing on the left side bar but the bottom progress bar has no movement. I've struggled with it for over a week now and I still haven't got it up and running. I finally resorted to uninstalling the Roon software and then reinstalling it. No joy. In looking into it online I discovered hundreds of complaints about Roon and it's interaction with various computer setups. Streaming platforms like BlueOS seemingly get around this but as soon as one uses the Roon functionality we are right back to uncertain ground. All of this is leading me to reconsider physical media... I can go through the laborious process of contacting a tech rep with Roon and eventually work through the issue. What has me hesitating to go through that is there's no guarantee that an update or another electrical outage or something else won't create the same or some similar issue all over again. Physical media simply does not present us with this type of frustration and life IMO is too short to spend it in needless frustration. So I'm faced with a fundamental question; is the convenience that streaming offers worth the near certainty of periodic frustration?

    Unfortunately, most of my former MAN301 clients have sold the device long ago. Streaming music has not been possible for years with the MAN301. In my view it took too long to create an improved version. A Roon Core solution is a great idea but not unique of course. The DACs from Weiss are still landmarks, so why not upgrade?

      Well, the customer who purchased your unit, Christian, already has it side-graded to the MAN301R unit. So, yes, a side-grade makes sense.

    That is a great news but perhaps a little bit late. Looking forward to compare to japanese alternative. I like roon concerning to information, but couldn't hear the same quality of sound as with native controls. Looking forward to compare with WEiss MAN301R.

    What a great idea to "sidegrade" a more than 10 years old digital device to make it up to date and an all-in-one solution for Roon users. The Roon core is integrated in the device! And the Weiss DAC inside is still today one of the most transparent, realistic and nice sounding ones on the market.

    thanks a lot Daniel! your devices are wonderful and of high quality, recognized all over the world, unfortunately, native software cannot fully convey the operation of a real device for objective and other reasons - but there is definitely a difference. It is a pity that few people have devices of this level in their home studio. I hope that the software version in one of the next versions will be able to approach the quality of a real device. thank you Daniel you have something to be proud of, you make people happy with your products!

    Thank you for posting this :) ...oooooh I want a real Weiss console :D I am literally building a poor man's Weiss console from Softube's "Console 1/Weiss Gambit series" using an old Digidesign Control24 (via V Control) for faders :D I just hope that one day I can afford to track solely through the Weiss A1 preamps as well and my console will be complete... for now though I can only dream about how this would sound!
